Spartak and the long road home

1014

Having disposed of Raith Rovers last night, Celtic have two huge away games, against top of the table Motherwell before a trip to Moscow for a Champions League match against Spartak in six days.

Tonight Spartak play just a few miles from the Ukraine border and have a journey of close to 1000 miles on Saturday.  It is little wonder they, like Celtic, are looking for ways to improve their injury record.

Celtic will travel to Moscow only a few hours after Spartak leave the city of Perm to journey home.  On Tuesday we will be the fresher team.  Could this be the game we break our duck away from home in the Champions League?  If we get it right on the park it will be.

I didn’t read the (incredible) statement by Charles Green until late last night, when I caught it via the excellent analysis by Paul McConville on his Random Thoughts blog.  Mr Green, Paul concludes, is “Either… stupid, which he is not, or he has decided to continue to appeal to his core support”.

There is a third alternative.  Last season we watched Craig Whyte, then Duff and Phelps, embark on a series of unfathomable actions.  Neither party was stupid, nor were their actions necessarily guided by anything as a coordinated appeal; they were simply being buffeted along by circumstances.  No one was in control, had the experience necessary or was party to a deliverable Grand Plan, resulting in a series of random utterances.

You have to be very careful with all this technology around.

For someone who has a profile, inappropriate action at the wrong time can be very embarrassing. You just never know if someone is filming you or recording you.

    ————

Charlie Green filmed attending his local AOH meeting?

  2. TET,

What is a SERIOUS bet ?

    Good question.

Well considering that we are being told that Motherwell would lie down, I think that any punter who really believed that scenario would have at least a month’s wages on such a Godsend.

The more timorous might settle for a week’s wages.

…The complete coward would have a miserly one day’s earnings.

To say that we KNEW Rangers were going to win & did not take advantage of the situation is straight-forward self deception.

We had no idea what was going to happen.

    Good Luck.

Exactly, as a fellow Betfairian, I waded into Motherwell early doors at 3.25, the price collapsed, as I thought it would.

It lost though, these things happen, over the piece it will make a profit.

Amazing how many “knew” that they would win tonight and bet accordingly, yet the Motherwell price still collapsed, funny old thing the internet.

“Charlie Green filmed attending his local AOH meeting?”

Surely Charles Green admitting his favourite Orange Crush is the one he has on Peter Robinson…

  5. Pat Nevin is a disgusting, soup-taking little weasel. Not a cheep out of him about the bigoted songs from the hun hordes and his remark about the tournament being ‘lit up’ by them was vomit-inducing.

Motherwell were quite simply a disgrace tonight. Yet another gutless performance at the death star to add to the lengthy list. We should take them apart on Saturday.

Good evening to those still awake. Off to my pit in a minute but having watched some Well v Sevco and started to realise that Sevco are back, I want to join with FourGreenFields and others make sure that I am not at any game that involves Sevco.

They cheated everyone and still think that people have tiny short memories. I appreciate that its difficult for CFC to deal with contractually but as a person I know where I stand.

When Ogilvie and Walter Smith make the home draw for Sevco I will fill my time with something clean and wholesome.

Thought we did well last night can’t wait to see more of Amobrose.

    kk,

if I remember rightly, you were one of the last to accept we are not paranoid, that sfa and refs were just poor performers.

So I suppose tonights verdict is no surprise.

  8. Why are so many of us concerned about tonight’s result? They appear to have deserved their victory just as qos did last week. The mothers wouldn’t be as up for the game as they will be for a table top challenge at the weekend. Witness st j game that this is not a unique situation. BTW if we do draw them at home why not offer all 60k tickets to them at $35/skull. 2 mill out of their pockets then around the same from Claude Greengrass to pay for the damage. #shareissueyourwhavingalaff

As someone else pointed out tonight if that had been an Italian game there would have been an immediate investigation!!

I never watch Scottish football except when we play so what I saw tonight was shocking in it’s content(no football played by either side) and shocking in the complete lack of of care or fight from the Motherwell team currently top of the premier league.

Now you might know I’m not one given to overly harsh judgements or conspiracy theories but what I saw tonight would have totally sickened me had I been a fan of of the Lanarkshire team…

Higdon barely competed against a defence that has been leaking goals to 3rd division opposition, match fixing maybe not but complete lack of application by the Well players and we all know that they will come out of the tunnel snarling and snapping round our heels on Saturday as if their lives depended on it..

    Hail Hail

I know where you are coming from but I don’t think even a 50% split with a full house would save this mob from another liquidation.

They are doomed, their economic model will collapse no matter how many times they could play us. In conclusion, watch them die live :)

  12. Hope we dont get Sevco in any competition…..they need us more than we need them…rather see them being knocked out of the cups by a nonentity like say Forres Mechanics who I’m sure will put up a better fight than Murderwell did tonight!

  13. Is minty about to ride over the horizon to join forces with green as an investor ?

Stating he has unfinished business and what’s to help in sorting the club out?

  14. prestonpans bhoys

    They will go bust again.

Everything is pointing that way, I’m just struggling to see what the advantages are.

A wee bit of insight today was Chuck saying that he has bought a property on Edminson Drive from minty.

He has no intention of saving the huns, never has.

My worst nightmare is the government saving the fabric of the nation, and buying them out, leasing the bigot dome back to them , all to save thefabric of the nation, watch this space……

  15. Just started reading back the blog, can anyone give me a brief

Sounds like it is something that will give us all a big laugh and leave the Zombies proper beelin’.

  18. i pray we dont get sevco this year in any cup home or away

they will boot the clean donald duck out of us and will be allowed to get away with it

and they need us for a big pay day to keep themselves ticking over for the foreseeable

if i was a Motherwell fan (who travelled in good numbers tonight by the way) i would be asking serious questions about my “manager” again tonight

  19. prestonpans bhoys/steinreignedsupreme,

cheers for the replies, the more misery we can pile on the huns the better

  20. I leave you with this thought before I head to bed …………………………

A year ago today the team now known as sevco (or any other derivation there of) were top of the SPL.

Today they are; broken, finished and the MSM cannot bring themselves to report it!

    H!H!

  21. Talksport has just let a zombie spew his lies about punishment attendances ect ,

And Cundy has backed him all the way !!

This used to be a good station but with C*nty,Keys, Grey and the rest it has become a poor H*n apologist station …Switched off and complaint emailed …..H.H

  22. What I saw tonight was NOT a superior huns side or an overwhelmed M/well.

What I saw was a M/well defence strolling about, an entire team (apart from one or two) making ,at best, a lacklustre effort. Nods and winks all over the show. Scripted and choreographed. Outcome never in doubt. I’ve watched football for decade upon decade, and I know what I saw tonight.

    But, what do I know?

After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So, the converse must be true, too.

Ugliness doesn’t come naturally. It is conferred upon the recipient.

Tonigh was one of the ugliest spectacles I’ve ever had the stupidity to witness.

And Nevin’s undisguised orgasmic admiration for the orc hordes and their troupe of strolling players was sickening.

The sooner all this is swept away, the better. Otherwise, the game, zombified already, will have a stake driven through it and will cease to be.

  23. i know we all slag the mullets record v past and present

but he cant do it by himself

he has to have 11 (14) players okaying this

    not possible

Randolf (Rep of Ireland international) – wouldnt be part of this for sure

Is minty about to ride over the horizon to join forces with green as an investor ?

Stating he has unfinished business and what’s to help in sorting the club out?

    —-

    My thoughts tonight exactly.

Why should chuck meet with minty now? He is on the eve of a share issue and needs finance to make his exit plan work.

    What would you do?

Methinks cg has approached minty with the news that he has the info to give to the judging panel which will incriminate minty and potentially lead to criminal charges. However, if minty invests ‘x’ millions, that evidence may be difficult to find :))

Think about it? Think about the timing of the meeting!

Ignore the current commercial debt of MIH, when it comes to personal threat, it’s a great motivator :))

    Watch this space.

  25. I only seen bits of their game tonight, what i will say is that brother

Callum did his best for them tonight,as usual elbows gets away with

the flying arm,i hope we never play them again while he is in their team

he would be allowed to do untold damage to our players

  26. surprise surprise.!!. .result tonite….you thinkthe game is being cleaned up then this goes and happens….nothing will change everything is geared up for their survival …mibs msn you name it……as the GB would say up up and away….. to somewhere different…..anywhere….wonder what the well fans will say about this man…surely they must be sickened…enjoying my football just now without them…who would relish playing that shower at our stadium again listening to their filth

  27. Should They be drawn against us in any competition, will pose a moral dilemma on our support.

To attend such a game will be to acknowledge their existence.

The facts are, that They should not be in top class football.

They did not meet the laid down criteria to compete at the top level.

To attend a game involving Them is to legitimise Their existence.

Therefore, the only logical recourse for any Celtic person is to ignore any fixture in which They are involved.

If that means a game against us……then so be it.

Do we need Them…… …… No

    Do we want Them…………. No

    Do we legitimise Them…… No

We do not need to defeat Them again on the football field.

    We have already vanquished Them.

They tried to emulate us by foul means and fouler and only succeeded in hastening Their own demise.

We have already achieved the supreme victory over Them.

Let Them die in Their self inflicted ignominy.

  28. You may not know the outcome of something….but, let’s say you have an honest heart, you don’t want to let cynicism get in the way of a battered belief in sporting integrity, a game of football played honestly, with the honours going to the team who did best on the day.

Anyone see that tonight? No. Me neither.

  29. right the more i think of this the more absurd this gets

its all the mullets fault that motherwell lost tonight

he can just say “here lads, im a hun, through and through and i want rangers to win tonight. go out tonight and do feck all. save ourselves for beating celtic on saturday”

    really?
