SPFL have no choice but to act on confidentiality breaches

418

Former SPL chief exec Roger Mitchell is fond of saying his old job had all the responsibility and none of the power, as ultimate control of the League lies with the clubs.  Neil Doncaster has lived through a period of his life he will never forget, but after issuing a comprehensive rebuttal to the ‘dossier’ yesterday, he may reflect that his powerbase has been significantly enhanced by the traumas.

The tone of the SPFL’s response, signed by nine of the 10 directors, is unlike anything I have read before from a comparable body; “baseless, damaging and self-serving attacks”, they did not miss the target and hit the wall.

With no charge outstanding, votes against the League will amount to little more than historical allegiances with the protagonists.  They will do well to get 25% support, instead of the 75% required for success.

I commented on Thursday that the phrase “serious breach of fiduciary duties” was likely to feature in news reports soon.  Instead, the League opted for “gross breaches of confidentiality” for distributing confidential parts of their Sky TV contract in the dossier appendix.

The board have no choice but to act in order to protect their broadcast contracts from breach.  The irony of trying to claim the League is jeopardising a contract by actively jeopardising that same contract is off the scale and indicates the levels at which we are operating at.

I see the deputy chairman of THEM is asking “can you trust the SPFL board ? “

Reminds me when the masses were asked “Whom seek ye ? “ And they answered “Barrabas ! “

Got it wrong then , don’t get it wrong now!

Imagine THEM having the audacity to ask anyone to trust THEM !

  9. St Stivs at 1.42. Your mention of “they gave us James McGrory ” brought back memories of coming out of the Celtic hotel in Estoril , where I and my friend with the permission of Big Jock were given the wonderful honour of visiting his room and getting our hands on the Big Cup. Should also mention that Charlie Gallagher was instrumental in enabling us to see the trophy.

On our way back to our hotel, we met Jimmy McGrory coming out of his, which was next door to the one the team were billeted in. We informed him that we had just seen the Cup and he responded by saying “I am on my way up to the team’s hotel to make sure that I was not dreaming.” Then, he went on to talk about the game and you could see that this great Celtic player and manager was totally in awe of what the Lions had achieved. Yes. he was Celtic to the core.

  11. In any other country, the press consensus on Sevco would be damning. But here prevarication and bet hedging are the order of the day. English and Speirs are contorting themselves to give some succour to the RIFC board and the Sevco support. No decency. Not a shred of integrity. And that applies to the ‘journalists’ too.

Only 1 up after 15 minutes when we dominated completely.

    The invisible James is unplayable.

Huns are completely out of their depths.

Just a wee bit concerned those missed chances will come back to haunt us. 😉

    LOL

  13. 30 minutes in and it’s still only 1-0

We’ve allowed them to come back into the game.

I’m sure we are just gathering our breathe after that high intensity start.

  16. HT 3-0. Stunning goals from Edouard and James in the 41st and 44th minute have shattered any thoughts of them stopping the Celtic steamroller.

Ntcham, if he can retain this form, could be a pretender to the Bobby Murdoch mantle.

Spiers and Tom differing meeja types

but consensus at back of it is beholding of gers12inters!! and their confused outlook.

We know it tho as a club we are quiet.i see this as ideal policy in dealing with attention seeking

So. What do the meeja investigate/report do differently that has not been done so far in our games history?

Decency and integrity are long gone imo.

    Connaire,

that is a great memory, thanks for sharing that.

I remember outside Celtic Park, early 70’s I was maybe 10, and an uncle pointed out an old man, still broad shoouldered, but wee, very dapper, pipe and hat and said , do you know who that is.

    No, who,

    Thats Jimmy McGrory.

Aye but who is that ?

I was down Knocknairhill today. Tidying up the father in laws plot with mrs h,

took a wee wander around on what was a beutiful afternoon, the view really is stunning.

looked in on my old buddies, Franke Gallagher & John McAlees, a wee smile for them both , oh how they would have loved to have seen another 9. my fathers grave we still havnt got a stone, and feeling kind of guilty with the situation.

what did kind of stun me, in my mid 50;s now i remember when the cemetary opened and what angst it caused among the portonians about being buried in greenock (or more appropriately being buried out the town), but i noticed many people i knew, old stalwarts from the port, many parents of people i grew up with, some very sad cases of young people lost to addictions, others leaving early from terrible illnesses,

i dont know why i am rambling on about it, it was just a feeling of time has went to quick, for all i love the celtic times, these people that passed, oh how to have another day.

My dad is buried up there – I’ll never forget his funeral, of course, but I lingered and looked at who his neighbours were – he was 66 and the oldest in a row of six – there is a serious issue in Inverclyde
