SPFL have no choice but to act on confidentiality breaches

418

Former SPL chief exec Roger Mitchell is fond of saying his old job had all the responsibility and none of the power, as ultimate control of the League lies with the clubs.  Neil Doncaster has lived through a period of his life he will never forget, but after issuing a comprehensive rebuttal to the ‘dossier’ yesterday, he may reflect that his powerbase has been significantly enhanced by the traumas.

The tone of the SPFL’s response, signed by nine of the 10 directors, is unlike anything I have read before from a comparable body; “baseless, damaging and self-serving attacks”, they did not miss the target and hit the wall.

With no charge outstanding, votes against the League will amount to little more than historical allegiances with the protagonists.  They will do well to get 25% support, instead of the 75% required for success.

I commented on Thursday that the phrase “serious breach of fiduciary duties” was likely to feature in news reports soon.  Instead, the League opted for “gross breaches of confidentiality” for distributing confidential parts of their Sky TV contract in the dossier appendix.

The board have no choice but to act in order to protect their broadcast contracts from breach.  The irony of trying to claim the League is jeopardising a contract by actively jeopardising that same contract is off the scale and indicates the levels at which we are operating at.

My old boss retired to your part of the world , his daughter and her husband were radiographers in One of the big hospitals in Melbourne . He first of all stayed in a small place called Heathcote then as there health deteriorated moved to Bendigo. It’s a big regret of mine that I never made it over to see him.

So it’s D- Day mañana for Sevco regarding their vote for an inquiry, cannot wait for crayon o’clock on that one.

Also I don’t think the spineless SPFL will give us our deserved 9th league title in a row until nearer the UEFA deadline of 25th?

Then I will sit back with my jelly and ice cream and watch the chaos that ensues.

So Mark Srvotja(so) has like other union leaders taken money and sold his principles, I was always hopeful that he would be able to do good for workers when I was in PCS

Stay safe, I’m working from home trying to assist some of these new and ongoing applicants

People are terrified of claiming UC and trying to tell them there is no other option is annoying but we just need to keep doing what we can

Stay safe and honest to yourself , that’s all we can do

I see once again Radio Scotland have airbrushed another episode of Sportsound.

Every programme broadcast yesterday is available..except Sportsound….

Was it because Tom English was talking crap again?

Or Martin O’Neill calling out Jabba as Hun?

  10. Lockdown Scotland now has about 1900 Covid deaths.

Sweden with no lockdown but certain restrictions has just above 3000 covid19 deaths -from a population twice that of Scotland.

Belarus with NO lockdown or restrictions has 130 odd corona deaths – with a similar population to Sweden1.

  11. !!Bada Bing!! on

Oh and by the way….I didn’t mean go back to work today,it was actually Wednesday I meant…..

  12. Do conjoined twins count as 1 or 2 for meeting purposes under the lockdown rules.

  13. Sweden has a population density of 60 people per square mile and many live alone.

Belarus has a population density of 119 people per square mile.

Scotland has a population density of 175 people per square mile.

In Belarus the leader denies COVID-19 exists and they report many of the deaths as pneumonia. COVID-19 deaths are likely to be inaccurate.

Thanks for posting that memory of the Leeds game at Hampden. I was there also as a 14yo, but it is still the greatest game i have ever attended, even with 50 years distance.

Hope you are well Big Mhan, and stay safe.

  15. What I think will happen tomorrow is that there wont be enough votes and therefore no investigation called

However, the Spfl will promise an investigation anyway, once this has all blown over, that way, they can get down to more pressing matters (such as the ensuring survival of Scottish football)

This will have to satisfy the Huns (it won’t), as they will have got their ‘investigation’ but it won’t be on their terms.

That way, the Spfl will save face and the Huns will be made to look stupid if they ever do get round to having the investigation

    B-)

  16. I watched Johnson PM last night and I was more confused than ever with his “New Advice” to those living and working in England ?

As for folk to go back to work at this time..

What happens to someone who does go back to work and finds that their employer is FAILING to have the proper protection and social distancing in place, and that person then REFUSES to be at work, and the employer isnt happy and sacks that person ?

Like above, a person is told to return to work by the employer with assurances of safety, and that person has been claiming DWP Universal Credit etc when being told to stay at home for the last two months etc, do they then advise the DWP IMMEDIATELY of their plan to return to work…and risk being taken off of UC…and returns to work to discover that their employers “assurances” a nonsense and the person refuse to be at work, they would have to RE APPLY for UC all over again etc ?

The Virus is at its worst in London, and Boris Johnson has just given folk from London the freedom to go anywhere in England to work and/or spend leisure time with family and friends in an area that may NOT be seriously infected with the Virus ?

    ConfusedCSC.

  17. Don’t read newspapers . Get my info n here . Seems like English is still pumping his gums , and with deans advocating legal action against spfl and some teams . Do they have a case .asking for a friend BTW

  18. BLANTYRE TIM…

Len McCluskey is a feckin RATBAG !

I had dealings with his office in London and my Regional Office here in Glasgow from 2009 onwards.

I sent emails and letters to his office about the disgraceful behaviour of TWO Full Time UNITE Officials wh were SUPPOSED to be supporting me when I was accused of “Non Disclosure” of a medical condition by my previous employer, a local Labour controlled Council.

I also had two phone conversations with McCluskeys PA in London, which again were a complete waste of time as McCluskey REFUSED to acknowledge ANY wrongdoing by the Unite Officials and the Union…despite me successfully SUING the Solicitor that UNITE had employed in 2010, which further supported my arguments against UNITE.

McCluskys message to me was more or less…” Nothing to see here…move on” , despite me providing documented evidence to the way that Unite had “hung me out to dry” following my dismissal from work.

I kept my UNITE membership going despite all of this, as I felt it would be a bit easier to fight them from the “Inside” and still being an unemployed member I could still demand answers etc…but to no avail.

I have been a “Retired Member” for a few years now with Unite….as I have had reasons for keeping that membership ongoing…although I hate myself for giving them my £15 a year subscription !

Hope that you and the family are well and again hopefully we can share a great number of beers asap ?

    HH

  19. JIMTIM

Yes they have a case. A solicitor will take any argument put forward by their client and frame a legal challenge around it. It’s what they do.

However, it’s unlikely to be a successful challenge.

Sevco will issue a statement tomorrow evening claiming to review their legal position etc but they’ll do nothing. Hearts and Partick will do nothing either.

  20. No investigation, and any club that doesnt want to be bound by the rules, cheerio.
