SPFL will move with the herd, isolating angry losers

746

We received clarity from Uefa on some important issues yesterday and not on others.  Access to the Champions and Europa Leagues next season will be granted only on sporting merit.  This finally nailed hopes of the Null and Void Loyal.  If a league was declared void, its standings and results would not hold, so no sporting merit could be determined.

If Newco want access to the Europa League qualifiers, they need the SPFL to award a winner and second place, despite their protests.  Our old pal Cognitive Dissonance must keep them awake at night.

It is clear from the Uefa statement they have listened and tried to accommodate several scenarios.  Where titles are close, like Italy, where Lazio narrowed the gap on Juventus to a point, Uefa suggest a play-off system could allow chasing teams to make up the difference.  AZ Alkmaar trail Ajax on goal difference but the Dutch league is expected to call a halt to the campaign as early as today.  There are no truly satisfactory closures this season, least of all for Celtic, who will be denied a title winning game.

What we didn’t get was a hard deadline on when teams have to be nominated for European competitions.  After discussions with Uefa, the Italian league extended this season’s Serie A to 2 August, so we know for sure the European draws cannot take place until after that date.

I expect we will see European leagues synchronise their moves; there will be no incentive for any radical undertakings.  Those without rabid losers will be first to call time, the SPFL will move with the herd, as it should.  Then those who called for independent investigations into why the SPFL acted the same way as the rest of Europe will look like the angry losers they are.

  1. Sevco are tonight involved in a face saving tactical retreat.

They’ve had ample time to request an SPFL general meeting but have only done so tonight after an independent forensic investigation findings were published by the SPFL.

Sevco know their general meeting will not result in anything as the vast majority of clubs are happy with the resolution.

So they don’t have to produce their ‘dossier’ of evidence and remain the victims.

  2. Any word on Belgium ? I had thought today their clubs were to meet to ratify the final standings and call the season but can’t see anything about it.

Sevco are merely trying to save face . Unfortunately , their face is so ugly it’s not worth saving .

    …………..

Cheers mate re your Post about Hertz being fined. When I was typing my question I was considering that Hertz and Huns might face a ” DIsrepute charge” ?

Now I see the Huns are demanding a meeting of all 42 Clubs, which again is ironic as how many of those same clubs have been threatened by the Huns over the years whenever the huns threaten NOT to take away tickets etc, and cut the away allocation at Ipox ?

The Huns are like the 4 year old put in the corner of the room, with their nose against the wall as punishment…and stamping their feet in protest……

i should know, as I hated Nursery School and I would often be punished that way…….I used to kick and bite the Wummin that were looking after me every day. I hated it so much that my Auntie who took me to Nursery every day would have to lie to me to get on the Bus…by telling me “That we were going to the Pictures” just to calm me down !

Funny enough, I loved Primary and Secondary School.

As someone else posted last night…this latest statement by the Huns about yet another Independent Inquiry…is just to ensure that the Huns have NO Evidence whatsoever…their Bluff has been called…and they have lost..again.

    HH Mate.

    Stay safe.

Turf Lodge Easter Centenary( Facebook) an old friend Mackers ( don’t know him) writes about old mates.I found the piece quite moving. From the sixties, where life was exciting as the writer ( Mackers) had described,to the seventies, and a different life style was to follow.Every one who went through this period had their own personal story/ stories.A lot of people suffered big time,I had personal loss, family and close friends.Sometimes I reflect and say a prayer for all who died.Amen.
