Spineless, unacceptable attack on Celtic fans

619

Your reputation was dragged into the mud by Social Justice Minister, Humza Yousaf, MSP,on Twitter this morning.  He wrote:

“On upcoming Celtic Vs Rangers match, we need clear messaging from everyone that fans must stay at home. If Police intelligence tells us, despite clear messaging, that groups of fans are going to gather to square off with each other, we need to consider if game should be postponed.”

“If Police intelligence tells us groups of fans are going to square off with each other” is his technique of throwing the blanket of blame over Celtic fans to prevent him addressing the threat of further social unrest head on.  He feels safe saying adding “Celtic” instead of calling out the true problem.  It is as spineless as it is unacceptable.

Be clear: there are absolutely no plans to postpone this game and there is no police intelligence that fans will square off.  None.  What there is, is a significant threat that the problems of last weekend are repeated on 21 March.  As far as this SNP government is concerned, we dare not speak that problem’s name.

This has nothing to do with Celtic and nothing to do with Celtic fans but your government is happy to trash the reputation of both.  He is toying with the reputation of the innocent and the occasionally vulnerable young.  If a Celtic lad turned up wearing lipstick Yousaf’s head would explode.

A lead in the polls does not permit you a free kick at Celtic fans.  Social Justice Minister, give me strength, you are contemptible.

    That’s all well and good

What percentage of Middlesbrough FC annual income is made up of ST sales?

What percentage of Middlesbrough FC annual income comes from TV?

I’m not defending for one minute the quality or value for money of Celtic’s VST product.

All I’m saying is that Greenpinata asked a question about two things which personally I don’t think can reasonably be compared.

Middlesbrough FC are considerably less dependent on ST paying customers than Celtic FC.

I’m sure – even as someone sceptical of our senior management – that Celtic would want to offer some kind of token of goodwill to those who bought STs this season.

I just don’t think it’s reasonable to suggest they can allow 50k+ to renew for free given the structure of our funding.

  5. I add my voice to that of the son of Tommy Burns and wish Walter Smith well & a swift recovery. He was a worthy opponent but never an enemy.

Tommy was/is a virtual Celtic saint – the actions of Smith & McCoist at Tommy’s funeral were deeply human, and, in my opinion, not fully acknowledge by some in our support.

  6. Frank – never abuse, our opponents and enemies would love that – stick to the right questions and our objectives will be realised.

    Although Shortie exercises my patience.

I totally get that and I will renew next season regardless.

    Food for thought however.

S Gibson has ploughed tens of millions into that club over – off the top of my head – at least 25-30 years.

    Surprised he’s not skint yet.

  11. PARKHEADCUMSALFORD-not having my reading glasses on, I understood your first attempt 😉

  12. Marspapa

Agree, we need runners from midfield to get beyonde the striker receiving the ball , it creates uncertainty in those defending as well as they dont know who is making runs, we have stopped doing this always to feet always laid back the way,I hope Turbull and McGregor can provide this .

  13. lets all do the huddle on

mark hughes on bbc saying hes looking to get back into management

any clubs looking for a manager?

  14. DESSYBHOY

That’s one of the disappointments I have with Calmac this season, a super player wasted in the role hes playing recently.

Rogic, Turnball, Calmac and even Christie can all play in the front of the diamond, realistically it has to be Turnball now and going forward.

A lot of rebuilding ahead, I hope we get it right.

  15. Read back forgot Southampton game on.

I see FF in goal, really disappointed with what he did with us,before we even got started NL was impacted by both Tierney and Forster, causing a scramble we never recovered from.

No problem with Armstrong, but no votes for Tierney or Forster.

PS The wall just got cracked.Brighton 2 1 up

  16. Tuned into Sheffield v Norwich game today,to have a look at Shaw, but on the bench.Tell you what, the best player on the park is Barry Bannon.Would be a great option for us,doing the job Davis does for the HuContract expires this summer, only 31,and Celtic mad.Type of player we have been crying out for.A midfield general.

  17. Turkeybhoy 1.21

Your right seen him in Barcelona game we lost 2.1 I think, late goal.

  18. EXCATHEDRA44

If any our 3 goal keepers lost a headed goal from 15 yards out they would get slaughtered, I thought FF looked slow to react.

  19. fairhill bhoy on

MARSPAPA-if he comes to us on loan with a view to buy then you might be correct 😉😂

  20. !!Bada Bing!! on

FB- the only loan players I would take, must have an agreed fee to buy, this nonsense of getting guys in to fill a jersey for a couple of months, is a nonsense for me.

  21. Spot on Bada 👍 No playing out of favour players to the benefit of their parent club, at our expense.

FD- a few weeks ago Kenny, Duffy, Laxalt…..3/4 of the back 4 on loan, a total failure on so many levels.
