Absolutely delighted for St Johnstone, who recorded one of the finest aggregate results by a Scottish club in European football in the last 30 years. My brother was speaking to a Saints player this week, who told him the successful strategy and drive came from chairman, Steve Brown, a fact which Hibernian would do well to ponder today.
Malmo’s 0-7 victory at Easter Road yesterday was chastening ahead of our game against fellow Swedes, Elfsborg on Wednesday. Celtic are in a remarkably strong position now, having produced excellent on and off-field results for the first time in the modern era, but those seven goals last night (not to mention the multitudes we shipped preseason) are a cautionary tale. It’s also worth remembering that Rangers decline into liquidation was precipitated by Champions League elimination at the hands of Swedish opposition two years ago (“Larsson has scored”). Wednesday presents a huge challenge.
As soon as I heard the stadium announcement on Tuesday I knew there was trouble in store from Uefa. The second pyro punishment will lead to a heavier fine. Celtic’s statement yesterday advised of matters of concern to Glasgow City Council Safety Advisory Group, who issue stadium safety licence, regarding a whole range of issues (overcrowding, lateral movement, moshing, body surfing). What to say about 131 broken seats? Ouch.
The club and Green Brigade (whose members occupy only a part of section 111) have met and we carry on as normal for now. Question is, can either control everyone in the section? I hope so but it’s a big ask. All it takes is one off-message person keen to ‘stick it to the man’, and there’s a long season ahead. Place your bets, folks.
Our thoughts are with Paul Lennon and the Thai Tims after the news that one of the boys who sang on the Celtic videos died in a road accident while another is critically ill.

Or SMASHINGMILKBOTTLES…
“they have become the generic name for some of these dafties”
Spot on Roy.
The gb/111 are blamed for all that is good and all that is bad inside Celtic park and it is simply not the truth.
Re the GB…
JPT, who I know well has his work cut out as the new Liason Officer….love the GB, ditch the bangers and pyros and support the bhoys, after all that’s what we are there for.
One solution maybe to introduce the standing area….whatever happened to that…
Home fae the holidays this morning and looking forward to the game tomorrow…

A Celtic fan with a firework is a banger.
scotlands shame
I believe the kick off times with Russia exempt in winter follow UK time. Indiovidual country time difference doesn’t matter.
When the team you followed dies, you’ve nothing to do but make up lies.
Nearly off oot, – but wife says couple have still one more property to see.
Personal abuse … A lot of poor wee souls about here … There is no need … But it’s hardly been vitriolic

Paul67 –
The club have a difficult task on this one but I maintain that they should be looking to identify and sanction the individuals who set off the fireworks rather than liaising with fan groups. Speaking to the GB is muddying the water for a number of reasons. Unless the agenda is to get rid of the GB? I’m not convinced that is the case – I think the club want all of the colour and support the GB bring by organised singing, TIFOs etc. However, it is individuals who set off the fireworks and individuals who should be sanctioned. Not a section and not a fan group whose structure is, at best, nebulous.
Bognor Regis Free Festival?
I told ole Dick Byrne about it.
‘Bugger Bognor’, he replied, with regal disdain.
With payday fast approaching, any chance of rallying round and supporting this noble cause and the foolhardy efforts of this, erm, banger?

Right! It seem I am jumping out of a plane at 10,000 feet to raise money to support those suffering from leukaemia. I have a VERY short time to raise the money. £485 minimum.
I really need you guys to support this by donating to my ‘Skydive for Stiliyan’.
Please email me at Morrisseythe23rd@aol.com if you intend to sponsor and also tell me how much.
I suffer from vertigo so this wont be easy. Pay to make me suffer or for the good cause.
I should be sectioned for agreeing to this. Thanks!

Well aware that my views do not correspond with those of many others on this marvellous
forum. Including,without doubt,yourselves.
As a Glasgow “fenian” who in my early years spent lots of time with others of a different religious and footballing persuasion, that`s a situation I am well used to.
Your consideration is much appreciated.

Bhoys and Ghirls ,
Begging bowl time – not for money but an hour of your time .
We’re looking for volunteers to help with a Bucket Collection before the first league game of the season on Saturday 3rd august against Ross county .
As you know this is a 5:15 ko so it causes us (the fans) some issues but also gives us the chance to collect some well-needed funds to help us keep bringing kids along to Celtic Park.
So , if you’re interested AND can spare an hour or so pre-Match , can you drop me a line to contactus@thekanofoundation.com
Mearns thanks does that mean those times were right then? Cheers

Having been present during the bereavement period and a funeral in Thailand twice I can tell you it is a very tough period for all concerend. I felt drained beyond anything I experienced even for my own father passing away and I hardly knew those that has passed away in Thailand. It is extreme.
So sorry to hear about the two young lads who sang their hearts out for us.

My thoughts/heart goes out to all of them
Will be back on next week.
Have a good one guys and gals
What’s the story on Sevco needing mega bucks in order to get a safety certificate?
I mean, they have £27M just laying about the blue room.
Scotlands shame,
The away tie is indeed a1845 kickoff. Glad he noticed.
Qualifiers take place at all times of the day. Group stages onwards are much more standard.

The £27m was kept in the new onboard safe next to the onboard sauna in the ole megabus.
At least, that’s what they told the insurers………..
