Our best wishes to Jos Hooiveld, 28, who has managed to resurrect his career at Southampton 23 months after completing an unsuccessful move to Celtic. Southampton, newly promoted to the English Championship this season, sit top of the division, with Jos a key part of their success.
The big defender clearly has more than he was able to demonstrate during his time here, despite Celtic clearly being in need of a strong central defender. Last night, after Georgios Samaras was send forward to lead the line, it occurred to my just how unsuitable he is as part of a front two. All that gutsy energy, running and yes – bravery – both in terms of diving into challenges and always being available for a team mate, no matter what feedback he is receiving from the stands, is hidden when he’s up front.
Give him space to gallop into on the wing or let him find his own Southampton.

ASonOfDan – I think Craig Whyte should sue his creditors, including HMRC, for their prejudicial muckraking and harassment.
The Rangers are the most dignified and quintessentially British football club you can buy for £1, and Craig Whyte is the most creative entrepreneur I’ve ever seen since that Eddie Murphy movie “The Distinguished Gentleman”.
Why should Rangers pay their bills? They should boycott the timmy taxman and SFA.
Or should I say taxmhan SFHA????????!!1?! FACT!
Radio silence brother bears. (thumbsup)

SFA find the case against Ragers not proven.
FUNEEEE! Proably a correct prediction tho :-(
Reports the SFA are so concerned at whats going on at ibrox they are launching their own investigation to find out whats going on and to make sure they get the next few crucial referees appointments spot on…
I would imagine it will be presentede as – Craig White disqualified in 2000 was 11 years ago – not therefore within the last 5 years
BobbyTressell,
Fair do’s. I respect that. Unlike so many on here, you understand that we are all entitled to our opinions.
Re. the named forwards, whatever effort and endeavour they put in, there is just not enough end-product; not enough speed of thought at times. There was an instance in the first half when Sammi cut in from the byeline. Great. But then, just blasts it across the goal. Pointless.
Then ‘lucky’ Stokes made some space inside the box and cut it back. 20 minutes later Sammi turns up – at least he did turn up – and ……you know the rest. High, wide and handsome. Heid over ba’ !!!! Do we have a coach ? Does anyone at Parkead teach shooting ? Apart from Ki – sometimes – we are dire at shooting, sic, Broonie.
I am NOT a hun. I am a frustrated TIM.

Having watched the replay of the goal numerous times now,,,i still dont know what Kayal was thinking when he ducked under the ball,,,i do know one thing though,,,this bhoy is no coward!!!
Hail hail
BADA BING 1800
Ah,FFS!
I meant that for BJMAC.
I’ve been trying so hard to avoid that mistake as well…..
You made a good choice avoiding the helium factory-apart from their tone of voice,I’ve heard there a bunch of balloons.
BMCUW-Good luck to bjmac hh
Hail Jeremy Clarkson !
He’d lick this ‘team’ into shape.
Miss the target twice in a row and get shot in front of the Jungle. Sammi might stop leanin’ back before shooting.
Broonie ? Naw. He’d have to take a bullet.
Good evening friends. Definitely a chill in the air tonight.
Radio Clyde in shock ‘let’s talk about Rangers’ finaces’ mode.
Jobo
iBleed…..,
Totally agree.
Kayal is brave as a lion. He DID duck but ……….not because he was frightened. Because he didn’t want to deflect it into the net ………..as Loovens or Mistakovic would ……………if they’d been anywhere about, of course.
Kayal’s got something between his ears but he’s in a minority in this team. You can see, as the game goes on, he becomes wearier and wearier at trying to run the midfield entirely on his own.
He’ll be off.
Amazingly on Shortbread tonight wee Chick is on
Story 1 is lookback to last night – dear God, did MacLean get a thrill out of the AM goal
Next is Steve Lomas banned
Biggest story going on today – SFA looking at Whytie boy not yet had a mention….
As I say amazing
BRING ME THE HEID OF THUNDER CRAP REID 1827
When I read the comments from Clarkson,I was reminded of PHILVISRETURNS.
I dunno why anyone asks Clarkson for an opinion as he always says something which, though usually amusing,is calculated to offend.
He then moans that he didn’t expect to be taken seriously.
So,as they said in ONLY FOOLS-Why ask?
yer man John, the Rangers fan, on Clyde
i’ve often enjoyed listening to this guy
he is one of the few who talks sense and talks straight
calls it like it is
if his team are gash, he says so
if Murray made a hash of it, he says so
if he’s wearin a sash, well nae luck, but that’s up tae him…
haha

I doubt very much if any Celtic supporter saw enough of Jos Hooiveld to make any kind of judgement re his ability. It wasn’t happening though so fair play to both him and Neil Lennon for finding a solution. And good luck to Jos himself, he could be playing in the EPL next season. Pity about Joe Ledley getting injured last night because both him and Samaras were quite effective on the left side in the first half. Sammy, like all of our players, needs to focus through to the end of the season. Concentrate on the silver!
Top Corner,
please tell me you aint talking about the famed John Wright from knightswood
Am Ah the Only Guy ,oan here that thought…
Kayal, goat “Caught, in Two Minds”
Ah hate when THAT happens ,tae Me..
And when it Happens..

How can an organisation which had George Peat as its President decide who is or isn’t a fit and proper person?
I stand to be corrected, but I thought Duffield didn’t fulfill the fit and proper person criteria for the post he held, could be wrong.
Doesn’t matter a jot anyways, the sfa are a law unto the hun, move along, nothing to see here Timmy.
gordybhoy64
am no sure
think he’s from Cowcaddens
mibbe wrong

Sunderland Echo football guy on BBC Newcastle just reported that MON will be appointed Sunderland manager later tonight or tomorrow morning.
Seemed pretty confident. Good luck to him if it happens.
did big Jos sign for Southampton ?
if so, for how much ?
“MattMcGlone9 – matt mcglone
Hearing that Celtic received £1.35m for Jos Hooiveld with a further £225,000 dependent on appearances between now & end of season 2015!
Seems very high but if we are still doing that ‘all money that comes in from player sales will be re-invested in the team’ thing that could come in handy…
All the best to Jos. Was the right thing to do by the Club & Player. Good luck to him.
Who’s next….
aldersyde avenue
I wonder if MoN will come back to raid the club, he will get a few bob to spend no doubt.
Estadio Nacional
1.35 ?
they are loaded – we should have tried to sell him for 4M or 5M – they love that guy
we could then have got 2.5 or 3, as opposed to a meesly 1.35
:(
Brown to Sunderland if MON gets job?
Timfaetx
no chance !
MON’s too clever
Top Corner,
2 different people,i regularly have the one from knightswood in tears giving him all the financial
stats i read about his team on here
TET
I’m not really sure. The owner Ellis Short has been pushing wages down so that would constrain his ability to attract top drawer players even if money is available.
Although I have lived in N.E England for many years I only take a passing interest in local teams ( never been to Sunderland and Sid James park twice on freebies) preferring instead the round trip to paradise.
I now know who I will be supporting in local derbies :0
I got a tip many years ago about a managerial appointment, funnily enough it was Sunderland, best tip I have ever been given in my life, I stuck a few bob on it, didn’t have the baws to to go big, but within 20 mins of my bet his odds tumbled from 66/1 to 33/1.
That man was Howard Wilkinson.
The daughter of one of their directors told me, I should have had a tad more faith.
Estadio
MattMcGlone9? You mean there are another eight of them out there?
Bada Bing
I take it all back,if crap heid is bummin up Jeremy.i’m
now on the side of the workers.
aldersyde avenue
There will be a few bob if required, there is still a bit of Irish money there in the background.
Jeremy has apologised, leave the twat alone :>)
Samaras. Fine player in the wrong league. Have often said he needs space – he doesn’t get that in the SPL because of the tactics deployed by oppositions teams against Celtic. He is often a different player for us in Europe. Sell in the January window.
