Our best wishes to Jos Hooiveld, 28, who has managed to resurrect his career at Southampton 23 months after completing an unsuccessful move to Celtic. Southampton, newly promoted to the English Championship this season, sit top of the division, with Jos a key part of their success.
The big defender clearly has more than he was able to demonstrate during his time here, despite Celtic clearly being in need of a strong central defender. Last night, after Georgios Samaras was send forward to lead the line, it occurred to my just how unsuitable he is as part of a front two. All that gutsy energy, running and yes – bravery – both in terms of diving into challenges and always being available for a team mate, no matter what feedback he is receiving from the stands, is hidden when he’s up front.
Give him space to gallop into on the wing or let him find his own Southampton.

WGS being given the Celtic job was like, as if the huns making Neil Simpson their manager! IMO!
I often wonder what goes on on your head to make you form opinions like that. Can you give any reasoning as to how you hold that opinion?
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The reason is simple….WGS was detested by the Celtic support who were old enough to suffer his, insidious antics on the pitch for, Aberdeen when playing against us!
The same goes for Simpson who was detested by the huns.
The underlying concern for me in all of this is that, the people who appointed WGS and, leaked the story to the LL on black-sunday of all days, clearly didn’t/don’t know their history ?

No weather reports in 50 years.
Another scorcher in EK.80 degrees in Dec.
Re WGS MON debate, I thought both were terrific for the club in different ways, both seemed to love the club, MON, the game 6-2 got him off to a great start and WGS was more of a slow burner but great nonetheless.
I have been lucky to meet them both on a few occasions and WGS was happy to debate and discuss all sorts of things, football included and was friendly, funny and had loads of time listening to my half baked opinions, MON was a bit more reserved and seemed nervous, might have been me though!
I think we are lucky to have had both at the helm and we should celebrate the fact that they were or became Celtic men, I look upon both very fondly.

oh dear, here we are again. dermot desmond underwrote the last share issue not as a means of increasing his shareholding to the detriment of the small shareholder but in order to guarantee the investment that was necessary to reduce the debt and most importantly to pay for lennoxtown, the academy and the overhaul of our scouting system. that the support chose not to take up the option of buying more shares wasnt his “fault.” i’d be interested to know what your estimate is for the number of shares that were bought by small shareholders in that issue, by that i mean shares bought by people other than the shareholders who already owned shares in significant amounts.
Hi Folks
I have a spare train ticket, return, for dundee on Sundays Tannadice match, the early one, 9.38 am in at 11.12 am back on the 4.43pm, 1 1/2 hour journeys both ways no changes.
If anyone is interested let me know.
Not looking for cash just want it to go to someone that can use it.
Cheers.

Celtic40me,
It’s been identified on here plenty of times. That share issue was oversubscribed

it wasnt. the shares were bought by dermot desmond and the other large shareholders because there was a very small demand from your ordinary supporter.
it was as straightforward as dd underwriting the issue and buying the shares so that the investment could be made. i know that doesnt sit well with the haters, conspiracists and other crackpots but its just the way it was.

Super day of racing.
I’m not sure it is the right thing to do as I think Sizing Europe 3.05 Sandown and/or Nacaret 2.45 Aintree are the naps of the day but not very good prices for the competition, so my nap today is
ROSSMORE LAD 1.15 Wetherby
Good luck everyone. I’ve had a wee nibble at your Out Now Fleagle.
