I’ve always cautioned against judging a player who has been out for an extended period but being hooked at halftime last night looks like an ominous sign for Derk Boerrigter, who sparkled for 30 minutes on his debut against Ross County earlier in the season but has come nowhere close to that form since.
Injuries stopped him in his tracks that day against County, and several times since, but whatever the reason, we’ve not seen anything like what the player is capable of, and at 27, he is likely to be looking for first team action elsewhere next season.
After last night’s game Neil Lennon spoke of the possibility of signing and losing players over the summer transfer window, which starts in three weeks. Buying well is crucial, and Celtic didn’t do that last summer, but getting those ‘no longer in the manager’s plans’ off the books as early as possible is also important.
Last August we offloaded Lassad, probably by parting with a bundle of cash in the process. This is not a precedent Celtic will have been keen to set, but it’s better to have the decks cleared than have an unproductive player linger around for a year.
Anyone starting less than a third of the games he is available for selection should be looking for pastures new, especially with new arrivals expected this summer.

Who suggests getting shot of Lustig
Probably our most consistent CL performer
By the way for anyone interested there is a thread on RM claiming 16-18k season tickets sold, probably nonsense. If true that is is some way the worse scenario with an empty stadium and enough money to limp on till Xmas.Could be fun.

Lustic is not only a great full-back but he can also plat at centre-half . The other thing Ive noticed is that he is the only organiser and a shouter in the defense . Something completly lacking with Virgil ,Ambrose and Izzy and some extent Forster who are the quietest defenders Ive ever seen .Maybe they do telepathy.
………………………
Then should shout louder in their telepathy world, cos they’re not very good at it.
To those who know me it will come as no surprise, but the older I got the more I shouted while playing football. I was subbed just to shut me up, but that didn’t work either. :o)
My sons played college “saccer” in the USA and sometimes it seemed like I had gone deaf. No shouting, no communication, nothing.

timmy7_noted- aye , the halfway house option could prolong their agony :)))

FIFA world rankings ? Come on fella. It’s the ability of WGS as a boss to get them to punch way above their weight that’s more the factor than the fellas on the park.
Traditionalist
I’m all for pragmatism but the clamour on here strikes me as foreign = bad and scottish and outwith the team = guaranteed to be good.
Our players have to be able to be technically good enough to hold their own on the european stage. We don’t seem to teach them that at home.
Reggie Blinkers’ contribution to Celtic can be best summed up by his display in the away leg against Croatia/Dinamo Zagreb.
Semper in actione – always insolvent

Nice one, lets see them get that on a banner, after the success of LEGNED.

Correct!
Closely followed by an open goal miss at Dens Park and an OG at Pittodrie. The boy was poor. Made Bobby Petta look like Johan Cryuff!

LiviBhoy – There were supporters trying to get over the fence to “have as word” with him at the game, total sh1tb*g.
Hope someone at Celtic is taking heed of the advice you mentioned the other re: friendlies at Murrayfield. Huge oversight if you ask me.

Hallucinogenic effects of Psilocybin Mushrooms:
“The Protestant majority have been utterly complacent and lazy as the Catholic minority have collectively strived to snatch all of the influential seats at the top tables in our society. Every important decision made in this land has a Papish behind it. This is the reason why nowadays they can blatantly flaunt their Irish religious belief without fear of prosecution. They can blatantly walk the streets celebrating foreign terrorism whilst banning or curtailing peaceful commemorative displays or walks of others. They blatantly hand out the majority of Scotland’s wealth to their own kind at the expense of other communities. Latest example being the current ‘re-generation’ of east of Glasgow which is for the benefit of Catholics and Catholics only. It’s biggest benefactor being CFC. FFS this area has had untold millions pumped into it for the best part of 40 years under the never ending guise of re-generation.
It all has to stop and sending off wee letters of discontent to complaints bodies etc may make you feel better but will not change a thing. Our only hope is to awake from the slumber, shake off the apathy. We have been shouting ‘WATP’ for the past 30 years but have actually done nothing to justify that tag. The young Protestants of Scotland of today have been badly let down by preceding generations these past three decades or so. This trend has to be halted and reversed before it is too late. I urge all young Prods to look at what these Catholics have achieved, at what they are doing to us, and go out and emulate them. Gather, organise, infiltrate then dominate the corridors of power once more. It is the only way to reclaim our land, no one else is going to do it for us.”
Lustig must stay
Sammi must go
Lhads, looking for any help and advise I can get. Currently unemployed after leaving BAE in Govan, I was a contractor, material controller, any help regarding any potential jobs would be greatly appreciated, couple of weeks ago I did my MIST and BOISET offshore training.

I gave up on Blinker after a shocking tackle he put in against Liverpool at Parkhead.
It was reckless and over the top of the ball.
A coward’s challenge.

Quite a concerning piece …..obviously a reasonably intelligent person

I like it!! I’ll be using it from now on,my O level Latin would never have worked that out.
Tonight’s remaining Libertadores QF (1st leg) games:-
Atl Nacional, COL (13) v Defensor Sporting, URG( 5 )
IMHO the two most entertaining sides left in the tournament. However, this is a match overshadowed by two disputes:-
1) Atletico Nacional have been forced by the Colombian Federation to play their first leg League decider (semi) against Santa Fe the night before the first leg, Libertadores (and the second leg, the night after the away leg in Uruguay). And you thought the SFA were a mess??
2) CONMEBOL have decreed Defensor’s Franzini stadium unfit to receive what’s likely to be a large travelling Colombian support for the return leg. Defensor (quite rightly) asking why was it OK for all the previous games, but not now.
Anyway, National went down 1-0 in last night’s semi against Santa Fe, but fielded a mixed side. Manager, Juan Carlos Osorio has not discounted that some players who played last night, will feature again tonight. However, the continued absence of key central defender, Stefan Medina and midfielder Orlando Berrio through injury, will be a bigger headache for him.
Defensor needed penalties to eliminate Bolivia’s Strongest in the last round and it appeared that Strongest had spotted how to combat the threat of Defensor’s, key man, Giorgan de Arrasceta – don’t double up on him, double up on his regular “out ball”, Felipe Gedoz.
Defensor another team who prefer to play 4-4-1-1 away from home, have veteran midfielder, Nicolás Oliveira back from injury and must fancy their chances of a point tonight.
Prediction (my heart, rather than my head) DRAW ( 60%)
Lanús, ARG (14) v Bolivar, BOL (6)
Lanús knowing that they have to travel to La Paz next week, will be desperate for a convincing win tonight. Bolivar have publicly stated that a narrow defeat will not be the end of the world for them.
Lanús coach, Schelotto will make four changes from the side who drew 0-0 with Gimnasia La Plata at the weekend (coincidentally, Celtic still being linked with Gimnasia keeper, Fernando “Mono” Monetti ) and will bring in Maxi Velázquez at LB, Diego González in midfield and strike pairing of Oscar Benitez and Ismael Blanco.
Bolivar have a full squad for tonight’s game and will probably play a similar game to those they have played away against Leon and Flamengo – defensively tight and hitting quickly on the break. Bolivar rumoured to be bringing 10,000 of their llama loving followers to this game.
Prediction (it’ll be a close one) DRAW ( 60%)
Finally – odd fact about Lanus. According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics ( IFFHS ) they are currently the fourth best club side in the world. Colombia’s Atletico Nacional a place behind in fifth.
Don’t believe me?
It’s all here http://www.iffhs.de/cwr-april-2014/
BMA -Good luck.
Have to say there were some complete wahoos amongst the Celtic support last night.
Neds come in all shapes, sizes, ages and football affiliations.
And they called us paranoid:)))
Andrew Dickson@rfc_dickson·21 hrs
Just noticed Celtic’s under-20 game at Dundee United tomorrow has been moved to Friday, which means another 19 hours to recover for them…
Andrew Dickson@rfc_dickson·21 hrs
I understand it’s to be a young Dundee United side that plays Celtic too so things don’t look for Gordon Durie’s R*ng*rs team I’m afraid
Andrew Dickson@rfc_dickson·21 hrs
No explanation for the date change available. Don’t understand why it’s felt one is needed now when there was no desire for that previously
Andrew Dickson@rfc_dickson·21 hrs
Something isn’t quite right. The game has moved for no apparent reason the day after Celtic’s chances of winning the league increased
Sell Micke?
hahahahaha.
I been watching his Sweden performances for years and simply put.. he should not be sold.. he has went from strength to strength and continues to grow in stature.
This is the guy that frustrated CR7 so much in the playoff v Portugal that CR7 ended up slapping him in the face and spitting at him out of nothing but pure frustration. CR7 should have been red carded in the 1st leg for his antics against Micke and therefore shouldn’t even have been on the pitch for the second.
Sell Micke?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I will be playing close attention to any shady looking strangers in mass at the weekend :))))
Weeminger – I think you will find that we do more than breakeven based on our policy.
I think one part of your post sums up perfectly the problem at CP.
From a business perspective our approach is right but its not so good on the pitch.
In that you encapsulate my contention that those who run the club have forgotten what they are running it for. I think some of us have forgotten too……
Isnt it whats on the pitch that counts……..isnt it???
Also if I remember right CR7 played most of the second leg down the right… to get away from Micke ;)
