Time for the war face, Celtic

399

You can be sure that pretty much everyone at Celtic Park and Lennoxtown has been walking around with a smile on their face since Saturday. The players have delivered enormously this season and now have a few weeks to prepare for a cup final which could deliver the treble.

Before then they face one of the league’s most professional sides. St Johnstone were the last Scottish team to beat Celtic and can still eye the possibility of finishing third.

They will win at Celtic Park if we pitch up with anything short of a focussed and on form first team. I know the cup final is the priority, but we are five games from an incredible achievement.

Scotland is a strange place, it positions itself on top of the mountain and looks down on other countries, especially it’s favourite punchbag England. The amount of backslapping that goes on is mental.

There is zero self awareness up here, they don’t realise that England is the more developed and progressive country

An excellent observation mate – I’ve never thought of it like that but you’re definitely onto something. Think you’ve pretty much summarised the parochial nature of the place in an increasingly globalised world.

    Add it to the list!

    But don’t tell Mags!

I’m too busy hating something that isn’t there, apparently!

I think you and M McGill are on similar wavelength, you just express your words differently. :)

That pesky 3 year association membership rule!

    Who made that up?

I demand to know who these people are, kickin’ them when they’re, literally, down!

I read of your meeting with Mr Doncaster with great interest.

There are a number of things that don’t stand scrutiny but now is not the time to go into them partly because I am knackered and up at 4:00am in the morning and partly because I need to check some facts.

However, justifying a position “Because LNS says so” is just not going to wash because whatever LNS said was only as good as the info put in front of him. Further, LNS said many things that remain unclear in certain circunstances.

On the same club/new club debate I am also far from certain that the analogies with Leeds and others lie squarely on all fours with Rangers PLC (who actually had it written into their memo and arts that the club and the company are one and the same) and I am even less convinced in his ramblings about what Me McKenzie did or did not say in any letter to anyone.

For a start, Rod McKenzie will write what his client wants him to write and will follow instructions. I have had many a dispute with solicitors and counsel over the years where the counsel or solicitor concerned has privately admitted that their view of the law and how it applies in various circumstances is different to the argument that they were advancing to protect or best serve the perceived interest of their client.

    Mr Doncaster should know that.

In any event that argument doesn’t wash and if I recall correctly, when the bold Rod was cross examined in the recent Bookmakers case he seemed to express views that more or less said “those were my instructions or those were the views of the SPFL or whatever” and so refrained from stating what was or what wasn’t his own personal view on the legalities of this or that.

So that is complete bollocks right there.

As for the supreme court decision making no difference – well that is the end of Scottish football right there.

If the man in charge of the league cannot see the difference and the significance of the supreme court declaring that an illegal tax scheme was used and deliberately not declared to football authorities so that Rangers could sign better players than they could actually afford – then to be honest the SPFL could save a lot of money by appointing a three year old to replace him in his post.

The difference the three year old would make is that he or she does not necessarily know the difference between right and wrong as opposed to Doncaster who seemingly neither cares nor has the guts or brains to ensure that wrongs are properly dealt with and put right as best they can.

Unfortunately, he appears to have the brains and the gumption of a suet pudding!

I will bring your shirt to the game on Saturday and see you at the corner.

I was mixing Saturday up with the game on the 21st.

Mags posted one night how he’d been a victim of the hatred, expressed physically, many years ago.

I don’t blame him for wanting to see it gone. I do too.

I’m just never going to have this same club pish, Ibrox, ‘Rangers’, 5 bird splats on blue shirts, whatever way they present their tribute act.

Let’s hope that would represent a similar line in the sand for supporters as the idea of placing of Sevco in the top tier in 2012 did, and club chairmen faced the prospect of season tickets in their thousands not being renewed.

    lol

Isn’t everyone a pesky feen-yin if they don’t follow the party line of ra peepul?!

And you’re being very polite with the word pesky!!

    :-)

  12. Same club, different company.

Not sure if it has been asked for before but surely there should be a PERMANENT page/link on CQN that defines in clear, straight forward language why they are NOT the same club.

I, for one, would find this of great assistance when preaching to the hard of thinking.

    Imagine the situation.

In pub/work and Stupid Fc supporter claims history, trophies etc…

You: “i have an app for that!”

Clicks on CQN – shows/quotes to said hun who has no answer to FACT.

I watched the 5-1 game in September, gave my card to a friend from Dublin for 1-1 game,

will never set foot inside Doomdome again or Hampden to watch them again. Loved Saturday in the pub at noon though. :)

  15. Beatbhoy, it would frayed and torn, in a careless whisk of manys about the breeze….

…hence the reason for an electronic copy! :-)

I’m still too mad at paying into a rigged game for years to be bitten again.

Would love the Supreme Court to reject the appeal, resulting in demands for a new and full inquiry into the DOS/EBT years.

But too much ‘let’s move on’ sentiment about for this to happen, I’m afraid.

I wasn’t watching, but my brother was texting me from Sydney during the game, having a ball, like you, and I enjoyed his enjoyment!

  17. Margaret McGill

    None whatsoever, mate.

Hope you and your brother have a ball along with every other Tim in Lisbon this month!

What about a wee laminated card, with a four leaf clover in the corner, of course, with bullet points??

  19. Did the Americans coin the term ‘friendly fire?’

Just wondering as there is sometimes that feeling on here.

Apparently, in the 1st Gulf War, 52% of casualties were attributable to FF.

VFR008’s word for tomorrow – fratricide.

  20. BRTH, Mr Doncaster does what he thinks is commercially expedient. End of for him.

Rules, laws, they are for others, just deliver the dosh.

Sporting thingumajig, whats that even for?

How much sponsorship does that deliver?

  21. Beatbhoy – you bought wan of those laminators from ALDI’s didn’t you, :-)

    Never miss an opportunity….

  22. Margaret McGill

Was fortunate enough to have blagged a grant for a Summer course at Lisbon Uni in 1976, and made the pilgrimage then. But what BRTH has organised sounds really special, and the stadium is one magical waterfall of memories once you’re in. You are all going to be talking about this for years! Can you imagine the noise in that restaurant with 240 of you getting to argue face-to-face?

    Bom viagem!
