  1. An Teach Solais on

After the emotions of the night have just about calmed down and, like everyone just thankful that we’re through. Hopefully the players will have recovered from the heat and exhaustion to sort out McInnes’ mob. We certainly carried the luck which deserted us over the past few European games.

Brendan will have seen for himself the faults and failings and if given the money can still add before the transfer window closes. A midfield enforcer would be nice. Can’t wait for the draw. HH

  2. Twisty

Some of their nonsense was retweeted onto my timeline last night by Tims. They’re afraid, very afraid :-)

  3. LOSTINBENIDORMONTHEWAYTOBARCA on

    I m totally drained!

Chased everybaw. Challenged every descision, felt the heat draining the hearts of our players. Thank feck we are through

Hats off to brenny and the bhoys.

Respect to heated drive way productions.

Biggest respect to the celtic supporters all over the world who endure to enjoy and recognize we are more than just a football club

  4. Brendan’s CL group stage shopping list will already be with the board. I fully expect to see players he is familiar with, guys he knows he can trust. How many people, myself included, doubted the signing of Scott Sinclair and what he would bring to the Club? It is going to be a very interesting next 7 days!!

    Hail! Hail! PMTYH

and a big awe the shame to all huns, zombies, necromancers and members of the SMSM.

  5. Dreadful from the very first minute. Every player, apart fro SS, was scared of the ball. no one looked for it . no one knew what to do. lost count of times players got ball and just stood with it at their feet until it was taken off them. This came from the manager. they should have been told to go out and win the game. that team are no better than St Johnstone. Thank FFFF. We got rid of our best right back, Fisher played RB in out longest clean sheet run and he can tackle

  6. Ok heart rate back to something like normal. Just glad to have made it through.

Hopefully Brendan will look to add more quality and composure to the team.

That wasn’t a Brendan Rodgers team performance.

He will want players who fit with his footballing philosophy.

Time for the board to back the manager.

  7. ps why did Sutton cal BR dreadful and clueless after that performance? lets hope we sign a right back or promote ralston.get a midfielder who can tackle. or play henderson/Ajer.

  8. At the end of the day, the result over 2 legs matters; the record books won’t record how nervously teams played on the night.

The result that means we are in the champions league group stages, and even a chance of the Europa league after that!

    Just how excellent is that!

  9. Robert t,

I’ve read that a few times on here now but just can’t see it neebs.

Is the money not a sweetener for the current teams because of the messing about they get due to not being able to show some live games and rearranging of fixtures.

I’m not sure though. Some clever chap will put us right :)

    Ps Still buzzing

  10. Progress with a reality check – and a big massive cheque to help us do something about whatever deficiencies we have seen.

I’m convinced Bitton is the weak link. Janko had a stinker, absolutely, but Nir has been causing the midfield to misfire for a year now. Motherwell, first half against st J, first leg of the play off – he wasn’t there.

Red imps and last night he was. Individual mistakes are one thing – a complete failure to do what you are tasked with and help your defence is another. I’m rarely this critical of a player – my family may differ after I let fly at saidy last night – but at least he showed for it again and again and didn’t hide. Nir will slow down Brendan’s revolution if Brendan doesn’t recognise bittons shirtcomings.

  11. Geordie – also saw comments on Twitter that they still owe Nimmo Snith fine so cash will be withheld in any case? Again, pinch of salt time but please please please…..

And it turns out that as in football so in life ….. Money goes to money. The rich get richer and those making a loss and with no credit line to a bank get poorer and deeper in debt to loan sharks!

In life I’m sympathetic to the latter. In fitba – well, I need not finish the sentence – roon thum!

  12. Right, work. Sadly I have no sevconisn colleagues to wind up. But I’ll be walking tall, Spring on the step, prouder than ever of my team and the Celtic family.

  13. We shouldn’t underestimate how capable Astana and HBS are and some of the mitigating circumstances such as long travel, kick off times, heat, poor pitches and our injury list. Holding a lead like that last night is really difficult to approach mentally. To get through both ties has been an outstanding achievement. We are not a CL team but we have a CL manager. Now we need to bring in the personnel to take us to the next level. Whilst Janko and McGregor are good SPFL players they are woefully inadequate at CL level. A new right back and midfield partner for Brown are a must. I don’t expect us to be splashing money about left, right and centre (pardon the pun) but sensible investment, yes. If there is any chance of signing Roberts then, just do it.

  14. Bottom line we’re at the big table, I’d rather be there with a Wee bit of luck, than be in the Europa league with another hard luck story.

Thank you to all at CFC for getting us to where we belong, we played six qualifying games and got through to the groupe stages of the biggest club compition in the world never mind Europe.

Our first objective was to qualify and that has been done, so everything else is now a bonus, three sold out games at Celtic Park ( not Parkhead) will make it outstanding nights, win, loss, or draw.

To wake up a Tim this morning was a great feeling and made me proud to be one, no negatives from last nights game I’ll leave that to the ones who can’t help moaning no matter what we do or how we play, Celtic are through to the group stages of the C L , oh how great it feels to type that, even better, GLASGOE CELTIC ARE THROUGH TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGES.

    LURKING HUNS GIRFUYS .

  15. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Delaney’s, sorry I never replied last night.

A crowd of us were in Dortmund , the first time we played there. It was a fantastic trip apart from the result.

BT had a Bundesliga preview on last Sunday. Dortmund looks even better now to visit, not sure how we would do on the football front, mind you.

A lot of work to be done by the management team, the players and the board , to improve our chances in the champions league.

As Brendan likes players he has had in his teams before, Lucas Leiva , at Liverpool , might be a shout for midfield. He has had injury issues but might be worth getting.

  16. What is the Stars on 24th August 2016 8:15 am

James McCarthy would be top of my shopping list.

I’d agree, McCarthy plus one other midfielder

  17. I woke up with a smile on my face at my first thought of the day, Champions League football for us, 3 great nights at Paradise, amazing!!

The game? Phew nerves shredded, most nervy 94 minutes I can ever remember. Is that because it gets worse as one gets older?

Anyway doing the huddle in the Champions League. Oh and a wee away game Matchday 3, Madrid would be good, a nice midterm break for my Mz S :)

    HH

  18. Good morning, in a few ways. Almost Autumnal sunshine here in darkest Lanarkshire?

Anyway , was woken at 3.30 this morning by my lhad all the way from Vietnam, delighted at the progress. Never mind the performance said he, enjoy the day.

Wisdom in the young there is , as Yoda may have said.

Off for a bit of personal stuff, then off to Lanacashire for some business in Preston and Liverpool.

    Enjoy the day.

    HH

  20. No inside info,

    Just sitting here thinking

Wonder if Brendan will go back after the Bhoy Flanagan at Liverpool on loan to cover our right back area ??

  21. Is McCarthy a right back? What about Schweinstieger? If we sign Roberts permanently will we play right back?

Only kidding, I don’t care about the dreadful performance.

We are in the group stage for the first time in aeons…ok, 3 years…but you know…

    Magic.

  23. At work today with a huge grin on my face ! Hoping to see lots of local zombies haha ! Well done Brendan and the Bhoys !!

  24. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Speaking of sair yins,I did a fiver 9-team acca last night.

West Brom, aka FWFBFA,could only draw against Northampton. Done for £650.

That’s them on my neverbackthemagain list.

  25. saltires en sevilla on

    Yes!!

Job done and back in beside the big bhoys.

5 goals at home was enough despite 4 major defensive lapses.

Both goals last night saw our defenders colliding with our keeper. That is not good and I would expect Craig to clatter his own players out the way in those situations. He must make it his ball, every time!!

Anyway, overall we just don’t seem to be able to pick the simple, simple pass often enough, when we do, we open teams up and create opportunities. One break that fell to Sinclair having a shot (weakish) saw us with 3 breaking in a row at front with 2 of three hugging the touchlines, stretching their back line -it was disciplined and intentional, more of that and we can grab points away from home!!

    Cannot wait for the draw.

Have fun with a hun… You know you want to :-)
