50 ways to leave your Legia

262

If there are 50 ways to leave your Legia, Josip Juranovic surely picked the best.  In their Europa League qualifier against Slavia last night, he took a high clearance out of his own box, controlled with his first touch, ran 50 yards against a retreating Slavia defence, before pinging a 25-yard shot into the postage stamp corner (kids, ask someone).  He is an absolute baller (ask a kid).

If the deal completes (you’ve been here long enough to know nothing is done until it’s done), we will recruit a player who adds quality to the first team.

After climbing such a peak on Wednesday, our collective nerves probably extend no further than St Mirren at home tomorrow.  The visitors drew at Dundee on the opening day of the season and lost to Hearts last time out.  I know you’re thinking, so what?, but they are the only team to take a point away from the city of Dundee all season, and we also lost to Hearts.  Although, I suppose, there has only been one other visitor to either United or Dundee this season, and they have their own nervous condition to worry about.

You cannot ask teams to climb the mountain every game, people do not work that way.  After a big result, energy levels often crash.  Think beating reigning European champions, Milan in 2008, then being a goal down 87 minutes into facing Gretna at Motherwell next time out.

Let’s get the job done early and rest as many limbs and minds as possible.

  1. Owen Moffat could play as a Striker and he can score goals to ,Some will say he is to young which I disagree with, look when jinky played with us how he turned out also Shaun Maloney was thrown into the deep end over at Ibrox he never looked backed ,Personally I think a strong Centre Half and another experience Goalkeeper are other priorities, just my opinion.

    Oh ma Heed…….

    ……..

    Your a bad Bhoy !

You must get a ” Curer”.

It usually works for me although I end up drunk again eventually…

    LOL

I havent been in The Dolphin since the late 1980’s…with the Whiteinch Bus.

As a wee Bhoy, whenever my Da took me to see the Celts at Celtic Park, he would leave me in his Car outside ( A Black Ford Consul) the Dolphin and he would be in there with his mates, drinking whatever…..while I was in the Car eating and drinking Ginger and packets of Crisps. He and some of his mates would pile into the motor at around 2.30pm ( Closing Time)…and we would speed off to Celtic Park.

My Da lived in Scotstoun at the time and he was the Ticket Convenor for the Black Hack ( TOA) TAXI’s.

He was a ” speed merchant” when it came to Driving and Drinking !

HH mate..take care and get that ” Curer”

    LOL

    HH Davie Bhoy.

  7. Apologies to those who took exception to my comments on George Orwell. FWIW, the critical responses were well deserved as I expressed myself very badly. When I said `phoney` I was thinking of his seeming desire to side with the working classes . I ignored the fact that his intentions were admirable and `phoney`was completely inappropriate for what I had in mind .

Saying he was `overrated` was based far too much on my opinion of `Animal Farm` which, although a good read , I found too simplistic to be treated as a `great` work of literature.

Also, I felt Jack London`s,`People of the Abyss` was more powerful than `Orwell`s `Down and Out` yet, to my mind, the latter was given far more credit.

Once again, apologies to those who took exception.

  11. We can all agree the fitness levels are much improved already under AP,but I think the way we play, high tempo passing and pressing, it’s making us a 14 man team every week, to avoid the drop off after 65-70 minutes, substitutions will be huge IMO

  12. Morning Celts, can’t wait for today. I think Christie will come in for Rogic to give the big man a rest.

On George Orwell, someone suggested last night he was a Celtic man, he spent sometime as a patient in Hairmyres hospital. Doubt he would made a game but might have picked up some Celtic love from the staff. HH ☘

Bada – that’s definitely true – hopefully we don’t need to use subs for earlier injuries, etc. – a dark tactic to look out for next week. The assualt on Calmac in the first game against Hearts was one that, in future games, could really harm our approach.

Speaking of Orwell, I note O’Brien hasn’t been on for a while.

Funny how he seems to pop up only when The Party are being criticised.

On the same subject, did you manage to catch the Ken Burns series on Hemingway shown recently on BBC4 and available on BBCi player. if not well worth a watch. Interesting that both Hemingway and Orwell both wrote about the Spanish Civil War, the former as a commissioned reporter, journalist of old, who knew Spain from the 1920s and Orwell as participant and commentator.
