A flash of brilliance from Abada

231

When they went a goal behind, St Mirren provided evidence they can play a bit.  They never actually made a chance worthy of the name, but they passed with speed and accuracy and forced Celtic’s more advanced players to work back and cover.

New manager, Steve Robinson, bemoaned their luck, “a ricochet” and a ball that “bounced off a face”.  Liel Abada may disagree.  The breakthrough came after he was pinned to the touchline by three opponents.  His control was so precise he broke free and forced a foul that led to the opener.  Tight games are so often won by a flash of brilliance from a gifted talent, we have a few in our ranks who can fill that role.

As Jota prepared to take the kick, I said, “It’s pointless sending in a high ball, we have no height.”  I promise to repeat this often until the end of the season.  What height we have is limited to two central defenders, the absolute entry-level attribute for any team.  Good deliveries, though, are hard to defend.

You will have noticed our passing seemed introverted at times.  Overhit or inaccurate passes have been a feature of recent games, sapping confidence which inhibits future outcomes.  A series of games on poor pitches, including a wintered-looking Celtic Park, has not helped.  The Plastic Pasta Pitch on Sunday will be no better, and it’s pointless sending in a high ball, we have no height.

I thought CCV and Big Starfelt were excellent, it is going to take goals from the Centre-Halfs to win this league (like Martin Oneil’s 1st season) both were playing as attacking midfielders at points during last night’s game.

Unfortunately the polish and Ukraine’s are involved in rascism at the borders , blacks and indians bearing the brunt of it ….there has been a few videos going about , sad when so many are being displaced there is still segregation …

So don’t send in “high balls” then

Send in balls fast and early

    (some “highish”, others not)

Simplest way to negate the taller player and exploit his lack of speed over five yards.

P67’s bedwetters comment coming true, we are not playing as badly as some are saying IMO, sure we are not as fluid as we were a few weeks ago, but still dominating play and getting forward, even the best teams go through sticky spells and still win matches, i watched the huns game this morning, they are absolutely brutal BTW. You can feel nervousness from the stands now,i think that’s from the incredible achievement that is in front of us now, and we don’t want to throw it away, Keep the Faith

  9. Here is an example of the crap that Sturgeon gets away with in Scotland After jumping into the Goodwillie affair, which she had no right to do per her own Offender Rehabilitation Act, she now declines to explain why the head of the ‘white elephant’ Scottish Investment Bank has just quit – when asked she said Sturgeon said: “I am sure everyone will understand that I am not going to go into the confidential details of anybody’s employment situation” – you couldn’t make it up! What did she just do in Goodwillie’s employment with Raith & now Clyde?

These SNPcult people actually believe that ‘the truth is what they say it is’

If Celtic lose a civil hearing based on sexual matters and bearing in mind her ‘witch-hunt’ of Goodwillie – what will she and her government then demand of Celtic in the aftermath?…..think it through, a precedence has been set.

Exactly how it is. Spot on. At the next game I’m going read it out to the moaner on my right – especially your observation on Doidge’s scuffed shit.

  13. Celtic have done brilliantly over the last few months and still the general sentiment expressed on here leans towards criticism of everything on and off the park. Some people will just never be happy.

For what it’s worth, I would be delighted to have Celtic visit my City in the US with or without Rangers and I think you would find it hard to find a Celtic supporter in Oz complaining about the team coming to play there. It’s a great opportunity, once in a lifetime for some, for fans living there to get close to the team. Also a great opportunity for the players to get a change of scenery and work on the continued development of team spirit and general togetherness. Fans who oppose this are no doubt UK based and have no idea how much this means to ex-pat supporters.

From the few posts ive read from JHB he does indeed seem obsessed by the heinous abuse cases, and consequences for Celtic.

For many in Scotland they want to see Celtic punished, there is no concern for the victims, the victims should be the sole focus in all of this, i hope they get justice in whatever form it is.

  26. Marsapa –

Maybe this is a chance to move past the “bile sectarian ,paedophile , evil ,violent shit” for a couple weeks and focus on football and the relationship with the fans. I bet there’s not a player on either team who gives a single thought to these things. I grew up in the jungle, behaved in ways that would not be tolerated today, loved every minute of it, but I’ve moved on. Celtic are a huge part of my life, but it’s all about the football. I don’t care about Rangers, past or present, and have no issue with them taking part in this event. Their oversees fans might even show the home based crowd how to behave in the modern world. Ok – maybe stretching things a little now …

  27. This is CQN. Not RT or Pravda.

A blog is a forum for discussion.

We discuss all things Celtic and beyond within the few rules that our host has set.

Fair dos pal , you have to be commended by moving on ….

Yip your right ,lets concentrate on the next game ,hopefully get a result with no injuries.

  30. It seems that the next game is always a big game and that’s the way it is with a genuine title race.

However, this Sunday is maybe that bit more than 3 points.

A win on a ground we’ve struggled very badly on previously would be a huge momentum boost.

It would send us into the last phase of the season in an excellent position and with only 1 further league game until April, We’d have time to get Kyogo & Turnbull back for the run in.

Given the break coming up and the reduced schedule of games, I hope to see us start at a frantic pace and do absolutely everything to get that early goal.

Sunday and Ibrox could put this league to bed if we’re fully committed.

  32. Sevco as,’a club synonymous with class, dignity and respect____

😂 😂 I remember having to listen to this crap over and over again, especially when the likes of the epitome of class 🤔Souness was there. Wasn’t he at Blackburn or Newcastle whilst receiving an ebt handout (aye, pure class). ‘Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser’ was an often quoted line from Souness. Utter clichéd macho crap.

Maybe you had a few too many G&Ts last night before resorting to abusing posters. Kinda sad really but I guess maybe you are projecting some unhappiness onto the blog. That is fine though and harmless really.

For the record I have only visited Turkey 4 times. It was always a place I found fascinating and a wee bit edgy. Its complexity and cultural hotch potch esp Istanbul makes it hard to pigeonhole in my view. Weird also it is one of the few countries Celtic has never played in euro competition.

Anyway for all that I have no desire to spend much time there really beyond the odd holiday. So I know you may find this hard to believe no I am not really jealous of your 53 inch tv and gin and tonic on tap in an Erdogan led state.

Glad it works for you though.

Re covid etc. I am pleased to share that as a 60 year old asthma sufferer I didn’t bother the NHS Re covid during the time and cost them nothing in the form of jabs or treatments. I had the illness for a couple of weeks there and managed to run a fairly quick 10k this morning so I kinda feel vindicated but still fine with those who felt jabbing themselves was best. I totally respect others views.
