Another treble yell, Mackay-Steven needs football

337

Another year, another “treble yell” from the Celtic family, this time from Lubo Moravcik. Lubo did it, of course, but that was 16 years ago, and despite playing monopoly with the league since then, we’ve not managed to add two trophies to the haul.

Celtic have secured one trophy, with the league title a formality, so the treble is now all about the Scottish Cup. The cynics will expect difficult draws (should we overcome Albion Rovers) and, perhaps, ground-breaking referee decisions. A grasp of history suggests our chances are no more than 50%.

I can understand Brendan Rodgers wanting to retain a fringe player, like Gary Mackay-Steven, in order to give the player a proper assessment during the second half of the season, but Gary needs to play football right now. A period on loan at Tannadice would help him return to form, and if it didn’t, it would answer a few questions for Brendan.

    “Puerile and inappropriate

    How is that for censorship?”

    I honestly don’t know- I don’t think I saw them.

Were they inappropriate in your eyes? Were they possibly puerile? Only you and the mod and other readers can judge and, even then, it’s only someone’s judgement- not censorship or stifling dissent or any other overblown drama.

It’s just one post or a series of posts out of thousands we have both posted, and the vast majority of ours have been accepted, whether interesting, pertinent or novel, or none of these things. There is a light touch to the “censorship” here.

    Avoid bad language

Don’t go overboard on the personal abuse.

    And carry on posting.

I can count on the fingers of one hand, the number of posters that I wanted to see posting less on here, and most of them were probably the same sad person.

And it was neither you nor yir brother, in case I’m misinterpreted.

BTW- I’ve been guilty of stuff that could have seen posts deleted so I hope when it’s my turn- I can turn round and accept the time for the crime.

hhmmm …. I wonder if the sniffer dogs in the airports in Lisbon are trained to sniff out custard tarts in people’s luggage ….

*3 different type of dogs at TPIA, 1 for drugs, 1 for arms and 1 for food.

The latter is a big deal and lot of it is down to passengers from 3rd world countries bringing in food that is deemed unhealthy in the country.

We no longer bring chocolate back as it’s made from a dairy product, a huge no no.

    That’s nothing!

We have players in our squad who have played more than 3 times at Ross County who have been described as being “as guid as a hun”

Is that no an oxymoron of a simile?

I think what happened to CQN is that many of us saw CQN as a vanguard against SMSM and all their lies as we still witness even today!

I personally believed that CQN would be another nail in the coffin of Rangers Scotland Ltd.

For a few years I believed this. CQN became powerful.

So much so that paul67 was invited peripherally to MSM discussions and blew them away.

There was a lot of hope.

PL and the PLC saw the power of the internet bampots and Mugabe like, PL took Paul67 under his wing, it was good for Celtic. However, in that weird transition, I believe Paul succumbed to the power of Celtic PLC and forsook the internet bampots.

Now we have the huns back in crippled bigot buck mode with money to be made and Paul67 is playing along.

    Thats why CQN has changed.

Custard tarts aplenty in Lisbon it would seem.

But I don’t think they’ll see any currant buns there in May.

…and maybe a stop in little Portugal for a custard tart or two… you need to get practicing for Lisbon.

  14. I’ve just come on to say that I think it’s the dog’s dangly bits that Mikael ALustig has signed a 2 1/2 yer contract with Celtic. He is my favourite player along with Emilio, Moussa, Kieran, Broony, Stuart, Leigh, Craig, Erik, Jozo, Cristian, Wee Jamesie, Patrick, Big Nir, Kolo, EFE, GMS, Callum, Sotty Allen, Liam, Henrik, Lubo and a few others (with apologies to anyone I’ve missed due to partaking in too much alcohol). Make Big Mik a coach when his contract expires. He’s a Tim like you and me. Trust me, he’ll manage Celtic one day.

  15. MIT- Yes Asahi would be more than welcome; not sure about the custard tart as I’m going no/low carb these days; that said I made pizza last night and scoffed a whole one myself:)

You know we’re I’ll be with the square sausage; drop by at yer leisure.

  16. Talking about Lisbon. The wife and I were their for our Godson’s wedding last year. Yes they are famous for their delicious custard tarts! We saw a shop on the banks of the Tagus (student area) where a huge queue had formed just to buy custard tarts. It was a miserable day so we decided not to go out to Estoril. Instead we went up to the Castle (St. Jorge’s). Thoroughly enjoyed it. On our way down, we went into a cafe to escape the rain. We ordered a coffee and custard tart each. The waiter recognised our accent immediately and told us that he had worked in an Italian restaurant in Victoria Road for 2 years. He had a girlfriend down in Cumnock and he used to travel to see her on an old scooter ( Lambretta) that he’d bought. This, of course, led to his divorce sadly but the craic was great.

Oh, and if you plan a visit up to the castle, take the lift! My wife and I only discovered it on the trip down. Believe me you don’t want to walk all the way up like we did!

  26. Margaret McGill

I wrote a conciliatory post a few minutes ago trying to address your issues and balance them against what CQN gives the wider congregation of Celtic supporters and at the same time trying to understand what Paul, a young man with a wife and family, has to contend with in a rabid, Hun infested environment. John James tells us that he has had to leave the country because of threats to chop off his fingers and blind him with acid so why should Paul raise his head further above the parapet. Paul is high profile. He has appeared on the media on many occasions. To be honest, Margaret, what exactly have you done to make you think that you are in a position to criticise Paul? You, and while I’m at it, some others on here have a daily pop at Paul for not bring radical enough in criticising the Board but none of you walk in Psil’s shoes.

There are many of us who would like the Board to confront the Huns, SFA, Meeja, Uncle Tom Cobley and all but we recognise that the tables might be turned on the Club and we might end up being portrayed in a bad light. Evidence? CSA hiring a private eye to investigate referee Jim McCluskey and Celtic CEO Allan MacDonald hiring a psychologist to report on Referee Hugh Dallas’ performance in the Rangers NIAR 3-0 victory at Celtic Park. How did that go for us? If you find CQN painful to read why don’t you and the others of a like mind draw your own conclusions and recognise that CQN no longer gives you what you once hoped for, no longer meets your needs and seek to find another Celtic blog which does.

Maggies post strikes a chord with me….

It’s why I do not post as frequently anymore. I lurk out of curiosity at the constantly changing landscape, but Maggies analysis has merit to those with long term relationship with this site.

This Blog was hugely informative and revolutionary at a certain time. Then it became hugely ‘successful’.

I got flack one evening when I posted the obvious: it had shifted from the FT of Scottish Fitba for those who could decode such papers, to The Sun, such was the increase in its popularity. The popularity diluted the quality.. And resulted in it having other distinct qualities. Depending on your perspective of what was required of course..

But hey that is the norm for all websites/blogs that become successful/popular. In all realms of industry/interest. Successful ones begin due to the originality of their concept and contributors, the more they attract, the more they have to change, in order to remain relevant. I get that. It happens everywhere, from animation to Zoo keeping.

I recall Paul67 being interviewed on Radio where he said Future revelations about Scottish football would be “apocalyptic”. I believe that is where the ‘Armageddon’ concept was forged.

Everything changes, is the one true truth. So it is with CQN. Granted, many contributors (Hail Hail GG) have stayed the course and been positively consistent in their appraisals and contributions.

Many others have been lost, too many unique, informed writers have left. True some still continue to post. However I find myself less and less inclined to mine my way through agitatators, provocateurs, fifth columnists and posters like CCE or his doppelgänger TD67.

So in summary Maggie is correct. And to any critical thinker reading here over the last decade…. it is very apparent. So let’s just accept it as it is. Not demand it be what it was. I will leave you with something I posted frequently on here a decade ago. We all seem to be acutely aware of the absurdity of the MSM when it comes to Scottish Fitba…. The same applies more so to our wider world of politics, economics and other ‘news’, but we forget our critical thinking skills on the big issues that shape the lives of all of us, beyond planet Fitba.

Roll on The Future and God Bless BR and his Bhoys… And save us all from the Lazy Journalism of the wider world.

  30. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Mags/PJ..,

I dont think that P67 was invited to comment by the meeja prior to his developing relationship with the Plc. My guess is the Plc relationship was the source of meeja invites and invitations became more frequent as the relationship grew, there would have been times the Plc would have been asked for a comment or to recommend someone. A bit of back scratching if you like and to be perfectly honest, for someone trying to develop his own media business it was an opportunity that needed to be exploited. Problem being as with all modern media businesses, to remain in business you need to provide a service that meets the clients demands and let’s be honest integrity and ethics is not high on the agenda of the media sector in Scotland, to get on you need to compromise and comply with the prevailing market expectations.

CQN has a high profile and would look good on most media portfolios so personally I can’t be too critical considering the guys livelihood is linked to it, when you consider the numbers logging in or just reading at a guess I’d hazard if not greater, then close to many of the MSM figures hence the advertising. The next step is to be able to charge the same income as the MSM and that won’t happen as long as the blog is too wild to be fully commercially compliant. So what would you expect ?

Me, I think he’s happy with the nonconformists and just wishes we were a bit more measured and not so easily wound up by the trolls :)

  31. Lisbon Anniversaries…..

It’s great some folk are heading out to Lisbon probably quite a few who were actually there on that sunny evening in May.

It got me thinking about my own celebration and that I should revisit the scene of my viewing of the greatest event. Of course knocking the door of an end terrace in Garrowhill and expecting the equivalent of Frank Kelly to let me in, supply me with unlimited supplies of American Cream soda and as many packets of crisps as a boy could eat……? A bit of a long shot!

But I did get me thinking of how many reenactments of where most Celtic fans were could be completed….How many front rooms, how many pubs, how many clubs and church halls? Maybe there is a challenge there for photos to be posted on dedicated blogs, or even on the official Celtic site!

Another thought (well seeing I can’t sleep tonight) July 2017 is the 20th anniversary of the day one Henrik Edward Larsson signed for us. Perhaps Celtic could mark this milestone by modelling a change strip for season 2017/2018 on the Swedish Flag colours of pale blue and yellow?

    Just a thought…….

    HH
