Belgians premature

1296

The Belgian league put the cat amongst the waffles yesterday by declaring the Jupiler League over and Bruges champions.  They sorted out their TV and other commercial arrangements and can start next season as soon as it is safe to do so.

There are very few calls to cut seasons short.  Tight leagues, such as in Italy and Spain, would forever  have questions hanging over them, while those assured of winning the title, as in Scotland and England, want to do so on the field, not at a league meeting.  Still, it was nice to see panic among the Null and Voiders, who would rather everyone lost than anyone (Celtic) won.

The Belgians have been pragmatic but premature, football is finished for the season, their champions are assured without controversy and they will accommodate those threatened with relegation.  The rest of Europe still clings to the hope that competition can start behind closed doors in the summer.  It will next month before we know if this is possible, there is no reason to make decisions before then.

Systematic under investment in public health and setting it up for privatisation is a political decision.

Plenty of warnings in recent years wrt potential pandemics – nobody in government took it seriously up until March 2020 despite the writing being clearly on the wall in January.

I met an investment fund manager in early February – the perceived wisdom in the ‘financial commumity’ was that the outbreak in China was a minor isolated blip and that it would indeed be ‘business as usual’. I wonder where such lax and careless attitudes originate?

    The question remains.

In deference to the obfuscating deflectors …….

Does the majority of the British public support the anti Royalist views expressed ad nauseam on the blog this am ?

    An opinion will do.

Any risk of a reply ?

Did you not link to a Change.org petition asking for the removal of the WHO director for exactly this sin?- why is he not given your excuse for being unprepared?

    =================================================================

Delighted that you took the time to read the reference to the petition .

    Hope for you yet.

Can I take it that you won`t be referring to the deputy prime minister of Japan as a

    ” quasi racist ” ?

BTW. WHO representatives were in Wuhan very early on in this crisis.

“The Queens subjects are the Queens subjects whether they wish to be or not .”

    Zat so?

The only thing I am compelled to do by the Queen is to have a portion of my taxes diverted into her pocket. It’s a similar relationship the traders of Southern Italy have with the Mafia and related organisations.

At least the Aussie subjects got to vote on the matter- it only failed to make itself a republic because there were 2 forms of republican government proposed. If Australia is ever offered the chance again- your side would surely lose.

OK I’ve used the magic mind reading talent bestowed on me by an Irish Gypsy Mother and a Scottish Tinker father, and I’ve sussed that record that you and your good lady sit indoors with, lights dimmed, wine poured (or cocoa maybe) and thoughts of romance uppermost in your plans.

Hello again Matt I remember that song well as in my school years I was a milkbhoy. Up at 3.30am 6 days a week hail rain snow. Running for 3 -4 hours carrying crates of milk bottles full and empty. Delivering pints of milk to doorsteps.

By the way it’s a better song than the two I looked up for both of us.

    Nope- you can’t:-

“Japan’s deputy prime minister has described the country as the only one in the world with a single race, language and 2,000-year-old monarchy, sparking criticism that he was ignoring an indigenous ethnic group and Japanese racial diversity”

    That`s fine , Jimmy.

Absolutely your right . A right not shared , incidentally , by the Thais .

Still no answer to the question.

Incidentally I wouldn`t dream of ” telling ” anyone what they should do .

That`s what socialist regimes do ( and totalitarian regimes like China do ) , not democracies which we are privileged to be part of .
