Bizarre Leipzig

260

Leipzig are going through a period of remarkable results.  An 0-8 cup win against lower league opponents, then a 4-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt and a 1-4 home loss to Shakhtar that precipitated the start of new manager, Marco Rose.

Rose began with an impressive 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund and a credible performance in Madrid before losing two late goals to Real.  Borussia Monchengladbach beat Leipzig 3-0 two weeks ago gave Rose lots to consider ahead of the international break, which they returned from with a 4-0 over bottom placed Bochum on Saturday.

I only watched the game against Monchengladbach but suspect it was one of a few bizarre results that did not reflect the flow of the game.  We should not be reassured by this period.

Totally agree. Creeps being creeps hiding on the internet.

    Would give you the boak.

  2. Hopefully things go our way this evening, especially missing chances in front of the opposition, which has been the norm lately,Newsnow do me a favor ban The Daily Ranger ,The Hun The Scotsman who never have a good word to say about our club and supporters.

  3. Last night was a lesson in building confidence

Liverpool were playing a new system, coming in off the back of a series of really poor results for them, they conceded late at the weekend at home to draw against a mid table team with a new manager. The Huns should have played on their nervousness, done what Brighton did and go at them, attacked the guy under pressure, do what they do well and bombarded them with crosses.

Instead they did something different to what they normally do sat back, gave Liverpool the ball to get used to their new formation and didn’t even do the basics without the ball. Alexander Trent as Kevin Thomson called him was man of the match and strolled through the game. GvB sent them out with a message that they weren’t good enough and to keep the score down, no wonder they played with no confidence. He has no confidence in his systems to get results at this level, no confidence in his players unless they’ve got 7 defenders. The game was over 5 minutes and he was talking about St Mirren at the weekend, they’re in the CL for the cash and to make up the numbers. I’d hate to watch Celtic with that in the back of my mind.

This evening we’ll play how we always play, even without our two first choice center halves. It’s because Ange believes in his methods and his players and they, in turn believe in him. Change things at the most critical moments and you undermine the message and players start losing confidence in him and themselves. We’ll probably get beaten because our third and fourth choice center halves aren’t good enough for the CL but we’ll be competitive and look to win, not keep the score down or even draw.

Joe is a gentleman and a walking encyclopedia when it comes to Celtic.

  5. If you happen to be in the company of thems today. Drop into the conversation that you wanted rangers to do well to keep up the co-efficient.

Tell them it would be better for Scotland if they had went into the Europa as that is their level and they would have picked up points there.

    It cracks them up.

“It’s written on the walls and you just feel it in the air what this football club is about.”

  7. Jocks and my mam’s birthday today.

So I shall try to only say nice things today.

  8. SFTB,

The Moderator on here has a thankless task. He / she really needs all participants on the blog to abide by the very few rules.

Bans and or censorship are a last resort and as a rule I do not agree with them.

When decent persons and regular posters are subject to moderation then I feel we have all failed.

What you have to remember is unlike Twitter, Facebook etc ,big brother does not step in if they don’t like what is being stated. Eg The term ” huns” has been banned from Meta even although it is not sectarian or racist.

There is a very simple method to dissuade multi moniker s, and that is to charge a small enrolment fee.

This is an open blog and somewhat depends on people to behave responsibly.

We share a love of Celtic, but have a range of diverse backgrounds and opinions which is absolutely fine.

The blog is facing so much competition now that wasn’t there when it originated. Social media continually evolves. But if you remember the moonhowling of many years ago then the blog in comparison is tame. It is simply disingenuous for anyone to suggest it was less controversial years ago.

Of course for many there is the option of secretive masonicesque WhatsApp groups.

I look forward to the return of AT and I hope he continues to post what he believes.

    Cheers and HH.

  9. I don`t really like to comment on a topic where I don`t have enough , bottom-line information and I don`t know what criteria is used by the Moderator. Even so ( I just don`t want to use `but` :-)) ), I find it difficult to see how one or two posters who seem intent on ruining this blog are allowed to stay whilst An Tearman is suspended for reacting to one of them.

Maybe Paul could consider adding to what is unacceptable. maybe multi-monikers and confusing abbreviations could be added to the list.

  10. Stx2 @ 9.49 / last night.

Your desire to always be right shames a nation / an industry / a profession.

The complete lack of analysis / depth / understanding is a wonder to see.

Shipbuilding at the Port — wrong people bringing it up so I will ignore.

Football in Glasgow — nothing to see here / ridicule what you don’t understand.

It is attitudes like yours which loses empires / global industrial leadership / economic engagement / football legacies.

So I will say again — you are the Yeti of CQN / the incredible no-man be it hotels / B team stadiums / museums / football development / industry analysis / youth pathways / stadium development.

You must be a bundle of laughs at parties …

  11. HS @ 9.59

You have to ask the questions of yourself.

Why do you defend someone who stoops to unacceptable levels to try and make points / howl down people he disagrees with?

  12. HOT SMOKED on 5TH OCTOBER 2022 9:59 AM

AT is a big boy. He’s quite happy to spray vitriol with the best of us but gets the hump when subjected to it himself and dons the mantle of victimhood.

If he’s been banned for the reason I mentioned then he’s been warned repeatedly so has absolutely no excuse. That subject crosses a line and anyone with an ounce of decency or humanity about them shouldn’t need to have that pointed out to them.

As for your list of banning offences perhaps you should add impersonating other posters.

  13. Have a nice day, all Celtic supporting Celtic supporters. I hope the Cellic do big Jock proud on his B-Day.

    “Football is nothing without fans.”

“Unlike many other Celts, I cannot claim that Celtic was my first love … but I can say that it will be my last love.”

“I think it is important to win a match, but I think what is even more important is the manner in which you win.”

Proud to belong to the Dim and Dimmer CSC

  14. GP @ 9.53

Again you need to ask the questions of yourself.

Would your attitude be the same if he was making the same accusations of yourself?

There are surely comments and accusations that are outside the pale of normal conversation — that you can walk by with your ears closed probably says more about you that the person making the accusations / name calling to a horrible extent.

To me your attitudes suggest that society is heading to a bad place.

At best it is the cliquey-ness of the school playground.

At worst it is the first stirrings of fascism.

You might want to revisit your attitude.

He might be bad but he is my pal — so it is OK.

  15. And you wonder how Big Trumper is still so popular in the US …

This place is like Blazing Saddles — although the good people of Rock Creek were paragons of virtue compared to the Playground mob of CQN.

  17. Watched the “CL” game last night — L/pool on the slide vs the tourists that are the TFOD2.1.

Football to stun pigs with — players who have lost it vs players who never will have it.

However the most shameful thing about TV last night was the BBC 10pm news.

Tories in free-fall / LT lucky to make the weekend — and what do the BBC lead with on the news?

    A pre-pack on a drought in Somalia …

It was the stuff of the third report on Newsnight not leading the main news bulletin of the day.

Not sure if it was a signal to send help as the Tories have taken over the BBC news room.

Totally shameful that the BBC will stoop to these levels to help out their Tory friends.

  18. Worried by the CHs tonight.

Have to correct you there mate. It wasn’t Billy McNeill’s header in the 4-0 cup final.

    Wrong Gers strips.

  20. Good Morning Celts…

    Interesting debate on “moderation”

The few basic rules on this site have been set in stone for sometime – why do we need a list all of a sudden!?

Don’t like to see the big mhan banned but reading his comments imho, he could do with a “time-out”, will love to see him back an awe.

Thought it was interesting to see those who took the opportunity of the passing of a braw CQN poster to have a dig at other posters, something I never saw said poster do.

Maybe “the clique” could come down from their high horse and have a good look at themselves from ground level.

Anyway Celtic are playing today and I hope they win, if not at least get a point in Leipzig.
