Celtic and the burnout issue

512

Delighted for Leigh Griffiths (penalty), Callum McGregor (penalty and assist) and Ryan Christie (goal) who, after a difficult few months domestically, got any reassurance necessary from a Scotland performance and result that they can compete and win on the European stage.  McGregor’s reverse pass for the goal was a thing of beauty.

The caveat is that our players will compete for four domestic trophies this season, head to the Euros with Scotland, then go straight into Celtic’s European qualifiers without as much as a long weekend down the Clyde.  To paraphrase Roy Scheider, you’re gonna need a bigger squad.

Footballers are not machines.  They have peaks and troughs of form, fitness and focus.  How many mountains can Callum McGregor climb?  We have to hope Steve Clarke cuts the Celtic players some slack in the spring internationals, while Neil Lennon should have a good hard look at the remaining three Europa League games before risking his most precious assets.

  1. I see oor Wullie is reffing the Swiss v Spain game, the difference in his officiating when reffing us is palpable, it’s as if he has an agenda when we are involved……

  2. Let’s all do the huddle – why do parents have to appreciate the sacrifice?

Never heard so much crap in my life.@5.43pm utter pish.

It’s not the parents that are keeping schools open and they should not feel grateful to anyone with all due respect.

    yes they should

i dont hear them arguing for the schools to be shut

even though they (in addition to colleges/unis) will be by far the current biggest spreaders of covid

there are no other arenas at the moment that have anywhere near the concentration of people in them that those places have

    i will say it again

read Melbourne Mick’s synopsis of what his city done

    and what the outcome was

not hard to work out is it?

  5. Great….another lockdown/chain break…not for the greater good but so that we can all go Christmas shopping in December…call me cynical

    From the wee wee hours….

Not sure if Teenage Fan Club were ever influenced by Steely Dan…

    Desperate Dan, now yer tawking

More the Byrds, Flaming Groovies I would think but

    Aint That Enough…

    ……

    Celtic Mac

Early Steely Dan was much less jazz influenced & often had 3 part harmony vocals & sometimes pedal steel.

Over time the jazz & funk influence started to predominate…

I’d say the first 4 albums fall into this category…

I’m probably mistaken anyway because the dates are a bit off – but it may have been an earlier incarnation of them as they learned their chops by doing what we all did to get on the circuit – play the songs you liked.

Now I wish I’d taken the trouble to find out who they were at the time…

Desperate Dan made me think of The Daintees somehow.

    Cheers

To be fair on the @rseholes up the Tesco not wearing a mask, the mask is meant to be covering the mouth and nose.

    —-

    Cornelius/Celtic Mac,

Teenage Fanclub formed in 1989 so it definitely wasn’t them.

Norman Blake was in a couple of band beforehand but I think they only lasted a year or two each. Also, he would have been about 14 in ‘79 so it depends whether they had to use fake ID to play :)

  8. Seen a few comments mentioning my dad earlier tonight Eddie McSheffrey, sadly he passed away 10 months ago.

Yes. he ran the George Hotel on Crieff and used to get the Glasgow Buses to come in on the way to Dundee a bit of diversion there though.

and he ran the crazy pub on Hope Street, “The Life of Reilly” that did only play hardcore rebel music.

    =================

He was a good man, met him whilst working in Tron publishing.

He always had a story to tell and always an introduction to make to you

Was in Laffertys with him a few times and across the road at the madhouse under central station

You should be proud, he always made me feel great

He referred to me and my mate as his Ayrshire Bodyguards lol

  10. Cheers, CLUNK

Thanks for the kind comments about my dad, yes he was a real storyteller.

Only managed to get into this website tonight, so not sure if my replies are coming though.

My condolences on the loss of your Dad , as I said earlier he was such a likeable character and had many a Celtic based chinwag when he was in Crieff. He was a great friend of my friend Tommy of the Muthill bus company and he used to keep me informed of your Dads bus trips. You can be very proud to be the son of such a well respected gentleman.HH

Looking at the latest R rates would be surprised if Glesga, Lanark, Ayrshire and possibly Stirling/Dundee do not go on tier four

  13. Ahh…it’s cool…I see who yer talking about ;-)) Right or Left…are we not open to all…as long as we agree wae thum ;-))

  14. So workplaces should be thankful for the sacrifice of people who have died during covid, hundreds of thousands of postmen, police, nhs, mothers, fathers, parents we should all be thankful that our workplaces are open.

All according to Let’s all do the huddle.

    What utter Tory shite.

You are on the wrong site you should be on a site for upper class, self centred snobs/chumps.

I’ll say it again no one should be thankful for people dying, NO ONE and certainly not GRATEFULL for their sacrifice.

    D :)

  15. Fairhill…a long walk spoiled…keep the updates coming…I only hate golf ’cause am crap at it ;-))

  16. Teachers on minimum contact are subjected to up to over 600 households in a week that together with pupils who are positive or self isolating

  17. Let me make my point clear here, schools should be closed but it’s not parents fault that they are not. They do not make Government rules.

They certainly do NOT need to be gratefull for the sacrifice ffs.

    D :)

  18. I have contact with over a hundred staff every day, should I be gratefull for the sacrifice of the dead that I am going to my work every day.

  20. I wish peeps would understand that lockdowns are only imposed, not for our benefit, but to protect the criminally underfunded NHS…as far as I can see…the government policy is for us all to catch it…but just not at the same time
