So Leigh Griffiths is set to be a Celtic player today. I bet we could all guess a few topics covered at induction. He is in because he scored 23 SPL goals for Hibs last season, more than anyone at Celtic achieved, and is currently Wolves top scorer with 12 goals.
Despite appearing to predictably win games 4-0 recently our problems in attack are evident. Anthony Stokes is our top striker but has scored less than half Kris Commons’ total, while defender Virgil van Dijk matches or better the rest of the strikers tally.
Leigh is the second striker we’ve brought in this month but at 6’2” Holmbert Fridjonsson is a completely different proposition.
More later on this and others, I’m sure.

My friends in Celtic,
Maybe its just me, but again there seems to be an underlying agenda for some on here. There is a definite theme of constant negativity from the same people while refusing to accept any positives. ( Of which there are many )
Constructive criticism is always welcome, is healthy and indeed beneficial but some posts can only be described as Anti Celtic and it is really quite difficult to see how a Celtic Supporter could write them.
However free speech is always desirable within acceptable parameters, disagreement within a broad church is inevitable and fuels debate on a blog, but to some Celtic seem the enemy and some recent posts seem more appropriate on FF.

“Sutton was not a project, neither was Hartson, neither was Nakamura, neither was Lennon, neither was, Lambert, neither was Johan Mjällby, nor the holy goalie, nor….”
They proved not to be, once they had nailed down a place in the starting 11 but they were all projects and subject to scepticism and criticism, not only from the fans, but occasionally from their manager.
Sutton was a punt that his Chelsea form was an aberration and it worked.
Hartson was a gamble on a guy who failed an Ibrox injury test and he went 11 games without scoring a goal. Here’s Celtic wiki’s description of his signing:-
“A year or two later, Martin O’Neil decided to take a punt on the big Welshman with many guffawing and baffled by his choice.”
Nakamura was described by ST as a jersey seller and was often depicted on CQN as an empty jersey in our team. So many match day reports were peppered with “get Naka off” comments. Gordon Strachan had to persevere with him in the face of criticism.
Lennon and Lambert were derided as , at least, one defensive midfielder too many for the Celtic style and many of our fans were convinced there was not room for both of them. That debate lasted a lot longer than Neil’s first month at our club.
Johann Mjallby was dropped by MON and on the way out of this club unitl a typically vacillating Martin changed his mind and restored him to the team.
There are players and signings we like and others we are sceptical and scathing of. All of them have to earn a Celtic jersey and continue to earn it throughout their career.
The following players have all been on Sydney Tim’s list of players to be punted or projects which are not good enough
Forster
Lustig
Ambrose
K. Wilson
Izzy (after his injury- will never get it back)
Brown
Forrest (still on the list earlier this month)
Sammi
And ST was not a lone voice in that particular wilderness.
GlassTwoThirdsFull – Bellamy’s injured. Do keep up!

Is that Roy or Robbie?
Are you seriously comparing Lubo with Leigh Griffifths?
Nah! I know you’re not, your just trying to get somebody to talk to you. I’m okay with that, I’ll talk to anybody.

Hibs don’t play on the counter typically except against us.
Nonsense point ,he knows where the goals are, and is worth a punt.

Cavansam…
…..and Tony was born in an offside position……..there is no way he can lead the line. Does not constitute an “intelligent” player in that regard. I base this on having watched him get his self off side wide left on numerous occasions.

Have a wee look at the extensions on firefox and make sure nothing has added itself or been added by someone else. Might be an extension firing out the pop ups etc, happened to me.
To test try and use a different browser and see if you get the same pop ups. If you do then its on ure hard drive.
If you dont uninstall firefox then reinstall to get rid of it.
Bid for van Dijk knocked back,Bangura freed,SSN say Ledley was called in from training as Palace bid came in.
As anyone who sits within earshot of me at CP will testify ‘hit it’ is never far from my lips as we shuffle the ball from side to side on the edges of the box……….well LG will.

News on Joe Ledley’s future coming up. We believe he’s speaking to Celtic Manager Neil Lennon right now. #SkyDeadlineDay
Is he going to go?
When did Sydney Tims opinion begin carrying so much weight in your formation of opinion?

Your post made me grin
The amount of gas produced by people fans and enemies alike saying Lennon and Lambert could never, I repeat, NEVER, play together in the same squad was/is a personal treasure of mine.
I remember a few games where I would consciously just watch them – that involved not following the game when we got a corner etc – what a partnership.
I don’t remember Naka getting as much grief as you point out – maybe the stumbling over the finishing line season – but I was and am a fan.

Kevin Doyle to QPR on loan
Stokes and LG as a striking partnership has real potential.
Samaras and Ambrose to stay at CP
Why are you presenting SydneyTims opinions as a benchmark?

…………………………….
Christ, I was agreeing with you.
Often with Hibs when I saw him he was most dangerous when the opposition were pressing and he was sprung “on the break” by a long ball.
May be a nonsense comment but it is my humble opinion and I agree he is worth a punt as there is more to him than just that.

“sorry mate, no disrespect intended but you really are going to have to stop suckling fallacies. You ooze them at times.”
Ach, I’d still appreciate the specifics on which were fallacious statements and which you had any sympathy for. Otherwise, I might collapse in a broken heap at the weight of invective thrown at them :-)
“When did Sydney Tims opinion begin carrying so much weight in your formation of opinion?”
Mentioning it as having occurred does not equate to believing it, and you may have missed my final statement (he was not alone).
Sftb. While you and me have disagreed in the past. I have always put you as a fine chap
Now you are a liar
Naka. One of our true superstars
Foster. Impressed from the off.
Lustig. Took his time. Never slagged him
Izzy. One of my favourites. Liar mate
Brown. Never had a go at him. Once again your a liar
Forest. Yes. One game in 10
Sammi. Immense as supporting Attacking. Useless as a striker on his own
Shame u lie

“till the clive dunns come back”
The clive dunns are never coming back. There are clive dunns watching a team who play at Ibrox so if you mean the supporters then yes they probably will come back to watch their tribute act, but the original clive dunns are died!

If Celtic have paid 1.2 million that Wolves were looking for in Leigh Griffiths deal, Dundee are due around 150k from sell on agreement.
Neil “right Joe it’s crunch time”
1.sign there on the dotted line.
2.pack yer bags and thanks for the memories.
3. pick a seat in the stand till the summer as celtic need a settled team for Qualifiers.
In that order for me
An Dun (11:47), do you think that the Barcelona Ajax and AC Milan players were quaking in their boots at the prospect of facing Efe Ambrose, Virgil van Dyjk, Kris Commons or even Scott Brown? In fact I heard that Neymar was p-ing himself laughing at the prospect.
SydneyTim (11:48): “our strikers would struggle to score [in] League 1”
Aye, Leigh Griffiths has certainly struggled with that.
SFTB:
All those players I mentioned, did they spend 6 months in the reserves, development squad, u’19’s, or did they go straight into the team of the week (bench included)?
Big Nan
It was more the original comment I was referring to as a nonsense comment – people seem to be looking to make issues where there are none.
We don’t have to look far for the baggage this boy carries so lets not make problems where there are none.
He’s a goalscorer and if he’s learnt his lesson regarding his behavioural issues then he will be a fantastic piece of business.

Glad someone can remember the controversies of yesteryear as I fear we put on the rosy tinted specs when players leave.
As for Naka, I knew a fair few Celtic fans who dismissed him as too lightweight. A bit like saying Jinky was too wee. We can focus on the missing parts of player’s games and Naka did have a problem with being tackled as the ball arrived with him, or we can appreciate their strengths which more than balance out their weaknesses.
If you need a reminder of how CQN viewed Naka, I would look for the match report where he scored 3 against United. My memory suggests there were a few calls for a half-time sub for him.

You never said that Izzy had not recovered from injury and should be sold???
You never included Scott Brown’s name in a list of players that we had wasted money on?
Really??
Paul Lambert, a European Cup medallist… a project?
Chris Sutton, an EPL league winners medallist… a project?

I can’t be bothered reproducing your post and going through it line by line, it’s not me, but read your own post back and see how many times you defer to the opinion of SydneyTim (who is a good guy) and tell me what his opinion has to do with anything I posted?
