Agreed bud, and some trolls pretendin’ to be Timmed-Up may even take to the oul’ bhlogs to spread said keech an’ guff – just to help things along.

Gradually, the battle to win the narrative and mood-music around The Club is lost and it becomes a challenge to separate the Guff from the Good.

HeyPresto! “The rainjurz Good – Celtic BAD.”

Nice talking to a fellow-minded Tim but I have to go out for a while .

    Cheerio for now.

Has anyone from Celtic actually said Howe was signing this week after a Stock Exchange announcement?

Has anyone from Celtic actually said Howe will be signing at the beginning of June.?

We. are notoriously tardy when making appointments or signing players.

Just sit tight. What will happen will happen.

    Hail Hail

    .

  4. Celtic’s lack of communication with the fans is not helping. They could tell us that they are speaking to a candidate/number of candidates regarding the vacant managerial position but no appointment is likely to be be made until ? due to ? Instead we are told nothing which allows rumour mongers to come in and fill the vacuum. This is then followed by general discontent when the rumours don’t pan out such as Stock Exchange announcements on this or many other mornings.

  5. Head in the sand team, another week goes by without a manager in place and less time to assess the squad and start the rebuilding process.

CL qualification very soon on the horizon with the euros inbetween, aye let’s wait until the seasons over and the team leave on holiday or euros and everything will be fine.

But this is all our fault for stating the facts.

Dont blame the press or the fans for stating what everyone knows. Just keep clapping. PL has everything in hand and let’s not criticize anyone within the club.

    ……………………..

After we ignore the first deadline in our season ticket renewals and then are bombarded with reminders from the Ticket Office, we can all just respond, “Just sit tight. What will happen will happen.”

  7. TOSB…………

Yes, we could be much more communicative – especially using direct to Tims platforms.

Dermot plays his cards close to his chest it would seem and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

An effort to get everyone onside would seem long overdue.

It might not satisfy the grummlers…….but it might help.

    THAT vacuum needs fixin’!

Take your time Dermot – I’m in no rush – just get the right man (Eddie Howe)

Celtic are doing now what they should have done before allowing Peter to wande into the showers at Hampden

Like you I only have media speculation to consider – but I like what I hear (Eddie Howe)

Also I am in no doubt that Eddie Howe is not the only Manager we are talking to

Same goes with Director of Football

Celtic (Dermot/Peter) fu–ed up the last time we appionted a new manager

I do not expect them (now Dominic not Peter) to make the same mistake again

Season ticket renewal “deadline” cracks me up every time. Is it going to be a sell-out or what? 🤔😆 PLC have you by the balls because you like the view, you hate change, and the guy next to you nods and laughs or at least puts up with your inane patter. And most on here have a cheek to slag off big Peter? Own worst enemies, the comfortable collective.

  10. Transparency and openness is not built into corporate structures (and I use the word corporate in the loosest most general sense). Most people seem to accept that these days without too much protest. Confidentiality in business or in negotiation of any type has its place but often benefits mostly the powerful.

In this situation, the detail of the contract, the intentions in terms of personnel etc probably largely need to be carried out in as much confidence as possible. BUT I don’t see any good business reason or personal reason for the club not saying publicly they are interviewing/ negotiating with candidates. They are doing it through some papers and possibly this blog.

If Howe is coming I see merit in an immediate start but he may not. He may want some of his own players in situ before a competitive ball is kicked. I get that.

As for the Scottish Cup, I honestly don’t think we need Howe in to win it. We have had sevco’s measure tactically for the last two games barring the usual errors. Even when they have been the better team nd we have failed to compete their wins against us have been narrow. The gap in the league is obviously the source of their confidence but they are not to be feared in my opinion. Our defence is and our profligacy in front of goal is the biggest threat to our cup success.

  11. It is my opinion that Dominic McKay will not be a ‘like for like’ replacement for Peter Lawwell.

PL runs the business from top to bottom – everything from our successful sponsorship & commercial deals, corporate financing, through to football department contracts including player sales & purchase and everything in between.

McKay will take over the commercial/sponsorship operation and it looks like the football department will come under the auspices of a newly created post of Director of Football. There is also talk of a significant ‘hands on’role for Dermot Desmond’s son, perhaps to handle overall corporate finance.

Celtic’s will need a revamped financial structure to deal with significant losses this season, the ongoing effects of Covid with at best a half-empty stadium next season, plus of course the rebuilding of the playing squad to suit the new manager’s needs.

So it may well be that it will need three new senior positions to replace PL.

I see no real significance in DMcK starting early – probably just that the rugby people have his replacement earmarked sooner than expected.

  12. bhoys on here ever relocated?.

moved your families lock stock and barrel to a different part of the world.uprouting kids at school.or whatever family dynamic is going on.we may be doing that with all individuals mentioned and d.o.f too.

There are a lot of facets.i am gannin for appointment but equally must show patience

  13. hopefully he is not waiting to see what EPL teams are looking for a new manager at the end of the season.

  14. “Just 16% of lower league fans said they would watch their team against Rangers or Celtic’s second-string under-21 sides, compared to 80% of the Glasgow clubs’ supporters, a survey has revealed. (Scotsman)”

If accurate, why would 84% of a team`s supporters not go to such a fixture?

  15. 67 EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS  @ 11.26

True, take your time Dermot and get the right man in.

Not surprised there’s no formal announcement, John Kennedy was ‘appointed till the end of the season’-for a reason.

Much more likely is Eddie Howe assessing the squad and working in the background with Dominic McKay, if the appointment is made. Scott Brown proved that only the exit door, is working at the moment, another bizarre twist in the season that can’t end quickly enough.

  16. According to the SRU Dominic McKay is leaving his post there on April 16.

Suggests he might be arriving at Celtic early doors. Not sure Celtic would announce a new Management team without Dominic in situ, given that he could not be formally involved in any negotiations with said team. Of course Dermot Desmond could be handling that side of things and hand Dominic a fait accompli.

    That could work.

  17. Celtic doing the right thing by saying nothing.

As long as we get the appointment right.

All good things come to those who wait HH

I get where you are coming from and a few months ago I would have been in that camp.

However we have been at best standing still and at worst going backwards since November, thats a business that has done nothing in 6 months to arrest its failure, I don’t trust the board and they do not deserve any more patience from any Celtic supporters.

Last week turkeytim/bhoy ( sorry can’t remember exact name) was questioning why I was not that bothered about the Scottish cup, it appears I’m a lot more bothered than our board.

  19. Offical statemement from Celtic

    .

Further to our announcement on January 29 confirming that Dom McKay will be joining Celtic FC as our new Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2021 following the retirement of Peter Lawwell on June 30, Scottish Rugby have confirmed today that their Chief Operating Officer and the Chairman of the Guinness Pro14, McKay, will be leaving Scottish Rugby on April 16 following a successful handover.

Peter Lawwell continues in his role as Chief Executive Officer and board member until June 30. Dom will join the Club from April 19, working with Peter and the Executive team to ensure a smooth transition, until Dom takes on the role of Chief Executive Officer and board member on July 1

Screenwriter William Goldman once wrote ‘Nobody knows anything’ when talking about the art and science of making a successful Hollywood flick.

Likely it’s the same with football. There are no certainties.

Miby EH promised his family some serious quality time aff before starting a new gig. Mibby he’s still waiting on another offer to land. Mibby it’s one of a million things that’d turn my speculation into a spectator sport.

Once thing I have learned – expectations are resentments-in-waiting.

  21. Great news about Big Dom – starting early………show his determination to get on with the job.

He has quite a task in store.

Well done Celtic – business completed ahead of time.
