    Bobby.

    Naive you are not.

    A side was picked.

    Like Billy`s and Tims.

    Wonder how Mr. Bitton felt ?

    Question: Will the funds raised be allocated to the area where decent Tims had hoped or sidelined to more

  2. Macjay –

    Isn’t CQN amazing.

    Here I am, 56 years on, being informed that the businessman who organised the classic Celtic v Real Madrid friendly match was a Jew. And to think, if it weren’t for your good self, I might have passed on from this world completely devoid of such earth-shattering knowledge.

    And all in the name of scoring a cheap political point.

    I’ll sleep well tonight.

    More likely the RIP would have been delivered by my father — it was he who had to collect the tea crates full of 7″ choons ( and deal and pay @ UK customs ) I was buying from a warehouse in Bakersfield and shipping to Glasgow.. 5 a $ , 10 a $. Sheer bliss . !!!

    Celtic may have lost some of its allure to Zionists, Jewish or otherwise.

    It may have increased its allure to non, or anti Zionists, Jewish or otherwise.

    That’s the thing with putting your head above the parapet, you’re bound to piss off someone.

    Doesn’t mean it isn’t the right thing to do.

    ………….to more doubtful areas .

    Specifically weaponry.

    As has happened with Palestinian ” charities ” in the past.

    Who specifically is entrusted to ensure the funds raised do not find their way into the pockets of arms dealers ?

    Or are we just naively trusting them to ” do the right thing . “

  6. Brief intervention for me as i have already been in my office 3 hours and have a busy day.

    I know the daughter of Max Benjamin. She let me have a look at a file of all of the correspondence involved in arranging that match. Letters/telegrams/agreements and press cuttings etc. She was very proud of her father and a big Celtic fan.

    If I remember correctly, it took about 18 months to get agreement organised. It was on/off on/off for quite a while but he stuck to it and made it happen.

    Exposure to Real Madrid in those days must have benefited the club’s international profile enormously and it did set a friendship in place with Real which endured a long time. I always hope to draw them in Europe – hopefully next season.

    As you are probably aware , I hold no candle for Zionism or Netanyahu or an American Embassy in Jerusalem.

I was , however, surprised when a complete stranger asked me if I would like a date ! Turned out the Bhoys were distributing free Palestinian dates as a gesture of thanks !

    I realise that that sounds like a letter in Viz but it is exactly what happened …..and lovely dates they were / are . too.

    My taxes find their way into the pockets of arms dealers. So do yours.

    Time to climb down,and not only from your high horse. I’ll bet you any money you like that if there is a need for humanitarian funds to be raised for a need in Israel,Celtic supporters will be there collecting.

    And I’ll bet we raise considerably more than our Soo’side Suicider neighbours,who have happily integrated The Star of David into many of their flags and website pages.

    Mick, Martin Momez is around 1.1 KM away from the hotel where the main group is staying.

    The others are in hotels close by and one or two are in hotels in the Rossio area which is the next metro stop down from Martin Momez.

    About 15 minutes walk should take you from your hotel to where the rest of us are located.

    Mate.

    The gentleman in question was a friend of the father of a mate of mine . Specifically , the brother of the late lamented ” Celticlover ” .

    Martin Rigby R.I.P.

    BTW.

    My mate Bobby made a point of joining Bonyton golf club , a club opened by Jewish guys who were blackballed from joining other clubs because of their faith.

    Does that ring a bell for Tims ?

    Perhaps you can understand why I would hate members of the Jewish faith to feel alienated from our Celtic.

    IIRC,the club across from Cowgken NSB had similar origins.

    Re earlier,I genuinely do not think that highlighting a huge wrong being done by a political system-the subject of many UN resolutions,which even the US have given up vetoing-means we are taking sides on a religious basis.

    Many many Jews,inside and outside of Israel,have demonstrated against their government’s actions over the years. I have no problem with anyone’s faith,and I doubt many of us have. Nor do I have a problem with Israel and its existence.

    I’ve got huge problems with the administration which treats Palestinians as worse than something stuck to the bottom of your shoe,and international opinion as irrelevant.

  22. Macjay

    Celtic is a club open to all. That why I support it.

    I’ve never witnessed anti Semitsm in the support section hat many Celtic supporters have for Palestine’s right to exist and disgust at the actions of the Israeli government.

    As for your ‘how can we trust them with the money’ comment, that’s straight from the Daily Mail mate. It Alan Jones rabid radio phone in from my time in Australia.

    Ironic in a tragic way as we watch a nuclear armed superpower pummel refugee camps.

    What’s going on with CQN ?

    Reading back over the last 24 hours or so plenty of reference to religion, or more accurately other’s religion being used ?

    No subject is so divisive. The language of intolerants usually.

    It’s a topic the blog should consider vetoing, when used in this way.

    Ps for the avoidance of doubt, there is nothing wrong with religion, faith is a wonderful thing; it’s the usage I’m opposed to.

  26. Tricoloured Ribbon on

    Two days to go in the transfer market and Brendan saying yesterday that it’s unlikely anything else will happen.Bit disappointed in that as we need reinforcements for our European challenge next season.

    What’s the story with Tom Rogic incidentally?

    Is the injury worse than first thought or has he had a setback?

    Anyone know?

  27. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

    Anyway,back tae the fitba’

    All very well having a civilised disagreement about politics,but no grey ares to lead to an agreement of sorts,only black and white.

    I was having a chat wi bestiebhoy in Essex about yesterday’s display,more importantly a report card on each of those players at the end of last season. Point being to highlight the huge contribution BR and his team have provided. I’d be interested in your thoughts on it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    watched this yesterday in our newly-designated Swindon CSC,the Mailcoach. We didnae designate it,really-we just hijacked the place.
    Strange place,a full pint of mine committed suicide from a standing start! Weird as f…,there was a 10″ snail trail on the table from where I parked it to the edge of the table-which no-one touched! It was only my second pint,so naw before you ask…
    Anyway,outstanding display. Kept Hearts near-totally quiet and with a bunch of players who at the end of last season were largely written off by many.
    1Gordon-needs to get back to his early form for us
    12Gamboa-Who? Lustig 78′-done,legs gone,permanently crocked.
    5Simunovic-who signed off his medical? Waste of money,hopefully not as much as reported.
    20Boyata-useless.
    63Tierney-what a player,he can be whatever he wants in the game at this rate.
    8Brown-done. Last half of the season shows the injuries have taken their toll.
    6Bitton-crab,waste of a jersey.
    42McGregor-squad filler at best
    49Forrest-when yer 25,we give up on potential and want results. Henderson 67′-another squad filler,hardly set the world on fire at Hibs.
    11Sinclair-poor sod,career going nowhere.
    19 Roberts-never make it at City and we can’t afford him.
  28. BMCUW. 9.27.
    Bringing back the memories for me there. That’s the club where I had my 21st birthday party.
