  1. CONNAIRE12

We were comfortable Hibs had a lot of possession but threatened very little, Midfield improved when Kouassi came on Broonie or Jozo MOTM.

  2. Anyone else notice on Celtic TV as Brendan and the Bhoys walked around the pitch in their now customary lap of fan appreciation Brendan whistled angrily to Jozo to join the team. He seemed to be sneaking off the field before Brendan spotted him. Jozo then reluctantly joined while passively aggressively staying on the margins away from his team mates. All is not well there.

  3. GLENDALYSTONSILS

How many times have you, or anyone else on here, seen Kouassi play?

    Just askin.

  4. CONNAIRE12

I doubt Neil Lennon will have thought his team were unlucky, they’re a decent unit lacking flair but solid at the back.

Celtic although not flying I thought were more or less in control of the game.

With our flair players missing those bits of magic seem to be missing from our game.

Moussa looked rusty but with some sublime pieces of skill all the same.

Olivier needs someone to feed the ball to if he’s playing that deep, perhaps Charly Bhoy could be just the chap to fill in that role.

Now I’m worried our form slump isn’t down to tiredness or temporary. Second half was really woeful. Couldn’t keep possession, offered no threat, made endless errors and were dominated by Hibs. Defence were resilient, but I don’t recognise this team from last season. The number of injuries also becoming a real risk given the key players affected. Moussa has gone from world beater to Ciftci impersonator. One of the worst performances I can remember from a Celtic centre forward. Brown and Ntcham bickering at the end, Brendan having to exhort some of the players to acknowledge the fans at the end, very few of whom stayed to reciprocate. Until now I’ve set aside my nagging concerns on the basis we would turn this around. Now I fear we’ve completely blown a gasket after last year’s incredible high. I’m glad we have a considerable cushion because on this form we will drop lots of points between now and the end of the season. Sevco on the other hand are gathering momentum. Sevco FFS. This team did us proud last season, but increasingly look very laboured. Can’t see how we can threaten Zenit and a number of teams could threaten us in the Scottish Cup. Team definitely looks in need of a refresh in the summer if we’re to maintain recent levels of superiority.

That was a good game of football.

Both teams going for it, with both defending well.

Lenny is doing a great job there, to come to celtic park and play like that takes some nerve, and to improve that much after half time is a testament to his skills. First season back in the SPFL as well

If he had a decent striker, or if he could sort out stokes’s head they’d be a decent shout for second next year

Not often enough. Brendan has talked about Kouassi as Brown’s successor but I would like to see a bit more of them in the same midfield. Brown had a great game today but he could do with somebody like Kouassi in there to help break up play and get the ball forward.

  8. Worst domestic display I can remember.Absolutely shocking. And what makes it worse,I had to listen to this on Celtic TV.Somebody get a hold of these numpties and tell them this not Hun TV,we want a true commentary on the game.

Jozo,MOTM,without doubt.A spoke in the wheels to all the experts telling us,he is a dud.Shut TFU.Dembele??????WTF game was he playing?

A really shockingly bad, poorly set out, poor performances from key men,the whole Celtic team in their own half for much of the 2nd half.Cant remember that before.

Anyway,3 points, but have no clue whats going on.

  9. PETERLATCHFORDSBELLY on 27TH JANUARY 2018 5:08 PM

The huns have taken 10 points for the last 18, we’ve taken 16. I don’t think a draw against us and two wins is really a resurgence

  10. Connaire

We were a bit flat 2nd half. But De Vries only made the 1 save.

I felt Brown was not getting enough help in midfield.

Jozo made some decent tackles especially.

We are missing a wee bit flair.

Congratulations to Brendan on his 100th game in charge.

  11. So a footballing team comes to Celtic Park and gives us a bit of a game and some entertainment. We win 1-0 fairly comfortably and we’re heading for disaster. You can’t have it both ways, we either want some competition or we don’t.

I thought it was a good game to watch and didn’t feel as if we were in danger of losing it. Yes Hibs had the possession in the second half but we defended well and limited their chances.

Another 3 points in the bag. Downside is Leigh’s injury :-(

    Nytol, late here.

  12. THOMTHETHIM FOR OSCAR OK on 27TH JANUARY 2018 4:59 PM

That was a good game of football. Both teams going for it, with both defending well. Losing Griffiths upset our rhythm as Dembele was, naturally, off the pace. De Vries did well, especially with his passing.

    Another three points.

*and that’s about the size of it, we never looked like adding to Leigh’s fortuitous right footed goal but neither did they.

I’ve been of the “if Jozo goes so what” opinion but thought he was our rock in defense, another bin bag tackle over on the left side was all about timing. Actually thought that John McGinn looked like a Celtic player as well.

As for madhun, not a poor ref as much as a dob, booked the Moose for simulation WTF and blowing for full time as we are moving in on goal, not offside either.

  13. We are just not functioning properly.

We are no longer winning matches comfortably and if this continues we could have a title challenge.

If the dons under dm had not thrown all those games against newco we would be having a challenge now.

The last time I was really happy with a performance was Aberdeen away and it was one of, if not, the best domestic performance we have seen under Brendan. Now our performance level has fell off a precipice.

We can no longer blame it on tiredness as we were saying before xmas and explaining the dismal newco game on it…

…there is something wrong and Brendan has to sort it soon.

  14. Anyone who saw Dembele over Christmas against Aberdeen, Sevco and now, 4 weeks on, against Hibs knows this is not a question of being rusty. He is way off form. No way should a sub who is training hard and injury free come on looking so out of touch. Subs are supposed to be match ready.

He has not put in a decent shift all season.

  15. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Celtic40ME – they are average, so no threat this season. Hopefully their financial misdeeds catch up with them (again) before too long so they don’t close the gap on us into next season.

GordyBhoy64 – I’ve been consistently supportive of the team, including after the Hearts pumping and the Sevco game, but the form has slumped. No question. Hopefully temporary until our injured players return, but that second half was dismal. If you disagree, fair enough.

  16. glendalystonsils on

Dorus de vries kicking is much more accurate than Craig Gordon’s. The chipped pass to the man out on the sideline was completed successfully every time.

  17. Great three points, sloppy with our passing much of the time, fair play to Hibs, they gave us a game but I didn’t think we were in any real danger, the boy Kouassi has it imo, how he isny getting a more regular game is beyond me, SS missing a couple of for him easy chances, Jozo looking very comfortable, Broonie being Broonie, all in all a handy enough three points.

Can you imaging if the referee had been a season book holder at Celtic Park and had been outed as a gambler, I wonder what the smsm would be saying.

Some of his decisions would have baffled, but pleased even Lenny today, shocking display.

  18. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

    CELTIC40ME.

    Can’t argue with that.

    Tonine Tim,

Nor with you. We were reasonably comfortable, but at 1-0, we were always vulnerable.

in the seconf half, the ball was not sticking up the field.

I reckon that Mousse’s rusty first touch was the main reason.

H, I think we recognised this and concentrated on keeping the back door tight, which, thankfully, we managed.

However, it was an entertaining game, studded with mistakes, which make football exciting.

Injuries are a worry though, but it looks like there is no chance of Dembelé leaving now.

  19. Afternoon all

3 points but not a good performance especially after Griff went off. Miss of the decade by Scott S who was poor therafter. I thought Kieran – given MOTM- was the weakest of our back four. Boyata, Jozo and Ajer played quite competently and Broony was mostly good. Ntcham had a good first half but faded. I like Kouassi and after he came on we looked a bit more comfortable but it was not great emtertainment on a dreich old day.

I would not bust the bank to sign McGinn but we could do worse as well.

    ………………………………….

Totally disagree with you. We were obviously watching different games. Celtic were in control throughout and Hibs rarely threatened. We played nowhere near as well as we can and the game goes down as one where we ‘ground out’ a result. Moussa got an hour or so and is a big guy. It will take him time to get his full fitness back. It will come as he plays more and more games. Brendan can’t seem to make up his mind at the moment as to whom he trusts most as his best striker. He’s played Edsonne for a couple of games, Leigh on Wednesday and today and he doesn’t seem to know what he is doing with Moussa. Brendan needs to be more decisive in my opinion. Pick one and play him for a realistic number of games. The indecision is affecting the team.

  21. glendalystonsils on

    THEORIGINALSADIESBHOY

Well, it looks like Brendans striker indecision is going to be simplified by Leigh’s injury. It’ll be one from two now ,instead of one from three. Unfortunately the one that’s injured is the one I would rather see starting.

  22. have to agree with turkeybhoy. Celtic had not spark and no flair. Hibs dominated the second half and had a few opportunities. Brown and Jozo kept them at bay.

We are predictable. work the ball to sinclair and see what happens.

Ok we have some injuries and miss some continuity but at home we should dominate and create more chances. 2 up front every time we are at home would do for me.

also agree on Celtic tv – tom Boyd said we are playing wonderful – dearie me!

  23. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Hopefully today’s fare ends the John McGinn to Celtic movement.

A very ordinary fetcher and runner who would do little to enhance our midfield.

    Brown and Ntcham much better.

BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 27TH JANUARY 2018 1:52 PM

Swan, if I am not mistaken, had the Irish Harp emblem removed from Easter Road and also kicked off the Irish Tricolour stooshie which was proudly displayed on top of the old Jungle. Bob Kelly, to his credit, refused to back down and it is still there!

*I’ve spoken about the hibbees and at length tae how their nae friends of ours. However tae give you the reader’s digest version involving swann, he not only removed the Harp from the north and south entrances to Easter Road, he also wanted to change their name to Edinburgh City and their team colours tae, the current Arsenal style green with white sleeves was changed from the original all green and was eventually to be replaced with red and white to emulate fellow breest barer herbert chapman, he was the Leith version of primrose-ure, goatshaggin with a tint of tangerine.

As for his cohort george graham, joined at the hip they two or mibbees I should say the right breest, as the much maligned Desmond White said of the secretary of the SFA: “’He’ll roast in Hell for what he tried to do to Celtic.’

His nephew was the Arsenal manager when in the summer of 1987we attempted to persuade Charlie Nick to return to Parkheid. He initially was all for it until graham offered him a new contract and promised him a first team place. Charlie was binned four games into the start of the season, in favour of Perry Groves, who was actually a winger and who would lose his place to another winger Brian Marwood, ah know who’s he, as the strike-partner for new signing Alan Smith. Peas and Barley spent the rest of his time at Highbury in the reserves and 6 months later he was off to the pen where he finished joint top scorer in the League with Mark McGhee the following season

Back tae the hibbees, with the likes of petrie and now a 10 year season book holder at hades charge it looks as if we’re back to bader stacking the game with his underlings.

  25. For my its the support players that are not fulfilling their roles. Sinky, McGregor and Forrest are all under par. Dembele although fit is not match sharp. Griff is but now injured. Our defence has improved and DeVires looked comfortable without having a real shot to stop today.

Canny see whats to panic about.

  26. THEORIGINALSADIESBHOY

I don’t think it’s got much to do with indecision, our two main strikers have been injured on and off all season and we have to give Edouard games to run the rule over him in game action, being the manager of Celtic with the high expectations of the support doesn’t come without it’s challenges:))

Leigh has struggle for months now with his calf and it wasn’t any great surprise to see him break down, the only surprise for me was that Moussa didn’t limp off to join him it’s been that kind of season:)
