Squire danaher – you’ve jumped to the conclusion it’s the players: there are others at a club who are close to day to day proceedings. Also, they work close, very close.

One snippet, Desmond wasn’t exactly taken with RD and he is a man of limited patience.

Regardless of what many feel about DD; he does care about his interests.

Anyway, off to China in the morning, so won’t be CP for a few months, which will probably save me some pain and anguish.

Greetings Mr MacKenna, hope you enjoyed Letterkenny.

    so, you DIDN’T predict 6-1?

you stand to lose a lot of money, mate!

I’ll log in over the weekend to your lotto!

NL said on radio last week that he left because he wasn’t getting enjoyment from the league anymore and didn’t fancy another season, especially without Hibs, Hearts and Ranger and average attendances outside Celtic being around 6k. He said a lack of investment was a problem for us in Europe but also had nice things to say about the board, CEO and backroom staff. Let’s face it, he did everything he could do at Celtic and wants a fresh challenge.

  4. Last question of the night.

Hand on heart, after last week how many honestly found tonight surprising?

    Champions League over and out.

  5. Captain beefheart. No pleasure at all

    Writing been on the wall

    Bournesoup

Back bone of team is good goalie and good centerhalf. We have to build on that , we have a good goalie and centerhalf

Neil got none of vics money last year

No time for This. Lawell must go

  6. Just in from the game, not read back emotions obviously very raw, I don’t think I have felt this bad since black sunday. If I felt this team had something and competed tonight I may have felt better. But I just watched a team bereft of , leadership, technical ability, organisation, tactical nous, an physical presence, a throwback to the dross I watched in the late 80s early 90s. This was at best a Europa cup team we played tonight and we were humped on aggregate 6-1 going on 10 where the hell that leave us god only knows.

  7. Firstly. If Ronny is to walk or be sacked then Peter Lawell must walk or be sacked also. Not question about it!

Secondly. If as rumour suggests, that there is a split in our dressing room then every player acting against the best interests of our club must go. I don’t care who they are or how senior they are. The badge on the front of the shirt is way more important than the ego or name on the back of the shirt!

Thirdly. Tonight and in total this tie was an embarrassment to the name Celtic Football Club.

    STOP CHASING THE WANYAMA!

    NO MORE MONEYBALL!

PLC EXECUTIVE BONUS CLIMATE OVER ON FIELD SUCCESS MUST COME TO AN END!!!

    MWD says AYE

  8. Tbj – it’s maybe taking itself too seriously (the blog I mean) it’s good, but it’s not always an accurate reflection of the wider celtic support or indeed of the true character of a lot of the contributers some times.

  9. I endured a sleepless night last wed ….but not tonight……everything happened the way I expected it to happen……

This money ball thing…..isn’t it meant to make money??

As far as I can see……..we have just lost 20 million !!!!

    If we back the new manager …cos we need some players…..say 5 million….well that’s 25 million………

Say it doesn’t quite work out…..or should I say it works out like I expect it to……..Cheerio Ronny……..

    New manager…..Fans screaming…..huns back……….Say 10 million needed this time….cos ronnys players are gash a la Berget ……that’s 35 million !!!!

    Money ball …..great int it!!!!!

And every word he utters is bound by a confidentiality clause.

  11. Back home in two hours. Not bad.

Garbage is the only word to describe that, we can blame managers, coaches, scouts, CEOs all we want but if highly paid professional footballers cannot do the basics that children are taught then that’s what happens.

Izaguirre was a disgrace, Mulgrew worse, Stokes, Commons & Johansen not far behind. Can’t comment on Biton as I didn’t actually realise he was on the pitch.

McGregor, Matthews and the returning Forrest are our small glimmer of hope moving forward.

Good luck to FF & VVD in their relegation battles down South.

  12. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Turned off the BBC interview after 30 seconds.

Don’t agree with comments about Ronnie’s communication skills.

I think many of our players (and footballers in general in Scotland) are under-prepared, un-professional and overpaid.

If dealing with that means the manager has to explode a few myths about some guys who are perceived as superstars (after playing one good game in five) then he has my support.

Bigger problem right for me is the choice of assistant manager. For me he is an idealist with no significant track record of delivering.

Ronnie can clearly see the problems. He needs and NCO type at his side to force through the change.

  15. If we had qualified for CL we may have been exposed to that type of humiliation x 6

Part of me wants us not to qualify for the Europa as we are too fragile to be exposed even to that level of competition.

However when the dust settles and the sanity returns I will be looking at the draw and hoping for better performances and perhaps an away trip. ( even if we have to shift multiple games to Sundays)

My Celtic Park seat is FS1 South stand (Old Stand -Celtic end)

I had the corresponding section tonight at Egg Chaser Central

Difference of course was that the Poles were in the ‘Celtic’ end closer to me than I am used to in Paradise.

They were loud to the extent that I was looking to see if they had amplification.

We had the chance to kick on from where we were.

  19. Evening folks,

Just back from the game and not read back. Really hard to take, not the fact we were beaten, but it was the manner of the defeat.

Tonight I hoped and expected an organized fighting display. Right from the start the attitude was not right, but more than that the players look like a bunch of strangers just thrown together at the last minute.

We could hardly string more than two or three passes together, practically no goal threat until the tie was over. Think we may have had about 3 shots on target.

So the question is how could we go from being a champions league group stages team to being soundly thrashed by an ordinary team in European terms, with much the same group of players.

At the moment I can’t make up my mind about our new manager. Far too early to make a judgement, I will give the manager my full support for at least his first season and see if we improve. However the standard of performance tonight was totally unacceptable. And even if tactics were wrong, or team selection not correct, the commitment of some of the players tonight has to be questioned.

Been following the team for 45 years and seen many up’s and down’s. This is as low as it gets. But we have been through terrible times on the park, and off the park with so called leaders of the club who have just not been up to the task.

I think we have come round to one of those cycles again and we are desperately needing some injection of new blood at board level to connect with the fans again as they definitely out of touch with the vast majority of the faithful.

We will get through this rough patch, but I think it could be the start of a very hard transitional period both on and off the park.

    Keep the faith.

Would that by any chance be

The Alternative CEO article you wrote for CQN magazine?

The one I have printed out right beside me for when I took it to the recent Focus Forum in case it was the kind of feedback they wanted. I thought it worth having to hand to let the consultants see the negative perceptions that Celtic needed to address.

Which is why I passed it the the SLO as part of his attempt to get a Supporters Forum off the ground, the same forum that was still born because of complaints of exclusion?

    Was it those proposals?

Was it the one containing a complaint about a lack of vision, the very point I strongly made verbally at the Focus Forum who will be reporting back to Celtic?

Given the efforts I’ve made to give your thinking prominence when the opportunity presented itself you will understand if right now I tell you to ram it.

That way we do not need to offer each other apologies in the days ahead.

  21. Quonno

Why do you automatically go for a conspiracy theory rather than accept Neil’s candid explanation?

6 games in the Champions league a season (well, clearly not guaranteed) might satisfy a talented manager for a couple of seasons, but in the end who wouldn’t get bored?

He did he got, and squandered some of it on three ‘attackers’.

He asked for more, and he and the board parted company.

I agree with your points but sadly they are too visionary for Lawwell.

  24. Snake Plissken,

The Ronny story is in print, not the Peter Lawwell one.

Neither are likely to be true.

Furthermore, neither being true will change things.

As an added incentive I’ve decided to offer some prizes for the top 3 come the end of the season. The winners will each receive items of their choosing from the Official Celtic Webstore to the tune of

    1st £100

    2nd £75

    3rd £50

Or alternatively, winners can choose to donate any winnings to a Celtic charity of their choice.

Also if by some miracle I end up in the top 3, the winnings will be passed onto the next placed team.

The Sun: Peter Lawwell has offered his resignation after tonights result.

Its quite late. DD will be fast asleep. i’ll accept on his behalf.

    LAWWELL, LAWWELL, GTF!!

  28. I was as frustrated as anyone tonight. Probably last to leave the stadium. My son said it was the worst ever for him supporting Celtic. We had 4 with us who were first time celtic attenders who were open to be converted. Sadly we saw a team bereft of energy, belief, endeavour and heart. Sad.

Quite what that has to do with Lawwell I am not sure. It will take time. Just as it did for Strachan and Lawwell. The difference is that RD cannot win by winning domestically and will satisfy no one if he succeeds in Europa.

Already many numbskulls sat around me tonight were trotting out the Daily Record and SSB line of RD being out of his depth. Yes and Artur Gorge is next in line and Moravek is a dud.

Sadly he has no chance. The moaning malcontents will make winning anything domestically a huge challenge in their pathetic anti Lawwell rage.

No one has yet answered the question. Who could we have signed who would come to our pathetic wee league without rangers and who would really improve our team ?
