  1. Sign that keeper as a back up!

Training game… Still exposed a couple of times. Some nice interplay that just never came off… Dembele nice touches….

Also first time in a long time I have seen a Celtic big man striker head a lay off to the wee man (griff) who should have scored…. Our pish over the last couple of years have not managed that!

Also bumped (well my wee girl) Tony watt in Edinburgh George street… Good luck to the lad!

  2. Turkeybhoy………..Jees is that game next week……no rest for the wicked, probably baking heat over there to contend with.

  3. very happy we got through. Having said that , we still look like a deila side. Far to delicate! i’m not criticizing but i want to see BR and PL add some steele to this side – not just speed and fancy footwork. The physical grind of the SPL will find this side out and players like Ajer are not the answer. He has potential but i’d rather have the tougher henderson!

dumbbell looks like ronaldhino – especially when he gives us the big white eyes! wish he played like him

There you go.Celtic fan coming out with that.

I am off, because as BCW mentioned earlier, some are just “Lamebrains”.A perfect example here.

Need some of what you have been drinking tonight!!!!

That was a very heavy handed critique of Brown and Griffiths. Almost click bait like…………….and I have responded, damn!

  6. On the bus in the way home.

Thoroughly enjoyed that, effective and entertaining football against an opposition that gave all they had, limited though they were.

The next game now takes on the mantle of most important game of the seaon( next competitive game that is)

  7. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

In reality tonight was a frustrating match. There was a large crowd, possibly 55,000. In the first half Celtic took control and it looked more like a schoolboy mis-match, with a corresponding scoreline on the cards.

Unfortunately, Celtic dropped 20 yards deeper in the second half and they took a gamble too, playing a guy on the right. It caused our Left side problems and stretched our back 3. Uncomfortably so, when Casciaro nearly scored. He looked capable over the 2 games, which is worrying.

I’m assuming Rogers designed that relocation of our lot.

Some showed again they just ain’t got it.

  8. Delighted with the game tonight. Exactly the right tactics. Go at them hard and fast, put the game beyond them and then control the game. At this stage of the season and a match every 3/4 days it was exactly the right thing to do. We could have scored a few more goals with the rub of the green, but that will do for me.

  9. I’m quick to criticise Scott Brown when he’s poor, so hats off to him tonight, thought he played well and hit a couple of tremendous passes late in the second half -accurate and with vision.

Looking forward to next week now!

  10. Was a 3 nil going on 13.

Need to. Be more ruthless for sure.

I didn’t see their keeper make any outstanding. Saves.

More over, we hit him with the ball, instead of hitting the corners of the net.

Too many attempts straight down the keepers throat.

  11. Sipsini

999 pence well spent then. Next week’s game being shown is a major bonus, wasn’t expecting that.

Same score please, well, at least the 0 the Imps got for Astana.

  12. TurkeyBhoy

You are spot on about Brown’s service to Toberts in the second half. Three great balls, one of which was brilliant. Improved greatly from first half when he gave him a head high then chest high pass while he was on the touchline. Broony had a good game tonight but he needs to keep the ball moving for lengthier periods of the game. While I’m disappointed we didn’t score an avalanche, that first half hour saw us play some brilliant football.

  13. Leicester Saturday will be 2 by 45 minute teams and then Astana next Tuesday for what now becomes the most important game of the season. Failure tonight was the trap door, I’m not contemplating defeat to Astana but if it happened we would have another bite at Europa Qualification.

Beat Astana and we are guaranteed 8 more European nights.

  14. Aside from Roberts……Brown was our other stand out performer.

Hopefully some of the diddy’s that have him written off as finished. Can disappear back down their warren for another while longer

LG is an incredibly limited player.

He took his goal well but his link up play was poor and he was wasteful.

Spare striker at best — he should be nowhere near BR’s first team.

SB looked to be trying to make a point with his attempts at long range passing in the first half. Pretty successful but it did not last. As for the other aspects of his game — he was honking. No cover for the defence, terrible shooting and little forward movement.

He has always been a limited player who was effective — through energy, strength of character or appetite. All those three have gone and he is rapidly approaching self parody.

My thoughts are that he should play a secondary role this season.

He is just not good enough anymore to be a regular starter for BR.

    Our MF was poor tonight.

CMcG was not a dominant influence and he did not take his chances.

SA offered more imagination and intelligence but not enough energy or personality.

We were shown up all too easily in the second half — a repeat next week and we will be in big trouble.

  16. CultsBhoy - sees right through Lawwell and the Board on

no cigar tonight but job done.

Confident we can move ahead in the next two ties?

  17. Ruggyman

    Well said

I would rather have Brown burst a gut, puffing out his arse for the last 20 mins (where he still dominated!).

Than bitton, who is gutless and will never know how to drag himself and his team thru the last 20mins of a game like Brown did tonight.

    Hail Hail

    TURKEYBHOY

I’m not one for criticising Celtic players and I’m enough of a fan of scott brown to hope and believe that he can turn round his poor form from last season.

I’m not claiming to be an expert, it’s just an opinion

So why are you using last season, and a clearly unfit Broony to comment on his excellent performance tonight. Is that it?

Just sounds like you have blinkers on,because your verdict on Broony tonight was a mile off.

You are not alone.Once the mob smell blood, and get a new “Whipping boy”no matter what he does he is feked.

Faithful through and through my suntanned Ass.

  19. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Good enough outcome tonight. Would have liked a tanking, but hard to keep motivated when job done and opponents so weak. Don’t know much about Astana, but suspect we’ll have our work cut out. Stoke spending is so depressing. I’ve been to Stoke City and whilst it’s a good crowd etc, it’s nothing on us. Murdoch and his money kills the spirit. The EPL is so dull. A corporate borefest, sucking the soul and romance out of football.

  20. Madmitch.

Yeah on all of that. But its only the 20th July!

Brown will never and has never physically dominated a midfield ie defended and created like BigVic could. He is crying out for a Wanyama influence in there. Callum struggled to get in about it for bits tonight, but I dont think thats his game either. SJ maybe help out there? (puts hard hat on!)

Do you reckon we will go 3 at the back next week?

  21. Madmitch, you are indeed mad.

SB was great tonight and so was Griff. Will be permanents on BR’s team sheets this season for sure.

  22. MADMITCH on 20TH JULY 2016 10:34 PM

    CLU @ 10.23

You are entitled to your opinion, and so am I.

Your opinion is a load of absolute bollox.

    You are well named.

    Just my opinion.

  23. antipodean red on

Failure to score in three out of four halves against that standard of opposition tells you exactly where this Celtic team is, not to mention the bombscare moment at the back between Eric and Craig Gordon which are all too common, no matter who the opposition is.

A good opposition team will have this Celtic team chasing shadows, steel required and quickly.

  24. Was very impressed with a few of Dembele’s (sorry if the spelling is off!) flick ons tonight. The impressive part being they found a strike partner in Griffiths.

Look forward to them gelling further as I like a quick punt and knock down on occasion.

    A la Sutton and Henke!

We romp thru Europe trying a similar tactic on occasion?

  25. I think some people should look at this from the manager’s tactical point of view. We did not play 20 yards further back in the 2nd half, LRI played 20 yards further forward and we changed to counter it.

I haven’t looked at the stats but I thought we had as many chances to score in the 2nd half without converting any of them.

  26. Clunks, SJ still has lots to offer this team IMO. Bitton and Rogic can go as far as I’m concerned, no-one can ever criticise Stefan for being slow at putting a foot in when required.

I think under Brendan he can save us lot’s of money.

  27. Outstanding performance tonight.

    Professional, skillful and entertaining.

Just what was needed after last week.

Blow them away in the first 30 minutes, and stroll the rest, avoiding injuries especially. Job done.

Those critical of the second half performance know nothing of man managing your players in terms of fitness and longevity. We are still in pre-season and working towards sharpness and stamina let’s not forget.

I thought Broony was excellent tonight and ran the show from the back. Brendan has changed his role already.

Thanks to the sleekits for the laughs during the game and after with their obvious poor attempts at stirring. Much appreciated. Ole Madmitch in particular gives me the chuckles, where does he find the time?

  28. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

    Doc

Armstrong tonight, I’m not convinced by the player. If I had one word to sum him up, it would be “nearly”.

Hopefully, he can find that missing thing.

  29. Some players looked good tonight …..against a team of very very very poor quality. As a celtic fan i refuse to accept the low standards the board has of what a celtic team plays like. I accept we cannot compete with the top teams but i simply refuse to allow that to shape the values set by Jock and those before him – we must believe we can get to that level again.

Watching celtic players give the ball away cheaply, consistently making poor decisions, and not have the metal in defensive situations is very hard for me to accept.

I hope BR see this too and builds what we need – I know PL doesn’t see this since he sanctioned the signings of mediocre players and managers WAY below Celtic standards!

  30. Just in from game.

Green Brigade were world class and the atmosphere was brilliant.

Scott Brown played like a Celtic captain should.

Paddy will get better and better.

Thought Armstrong looked more mature and settled.

I think Griff and Dembele could be dynamite in time.

Still need a few more complete players.

Would like us to sign AMcG again.

We need experience to go to Aberdeen Hertz and The Dangerous Roof Dome.

    Hail Hail!

  31. PLB totally agree been to Everton not too long ago and was massively disappointed by atmosphere. Lots of good Tim songs but nothing like Celtic.

There are a load off bams on here tonight. Heid cases.
