  1. We all now assume the league is gone.

For us to win the 10, we would now need to win our 2 games in hand , beat the Huns 3 times ,and match them in all other games.

Neil Lennon ,leading this team ,can not steer us to Christmas without dropping more points.

It is unlikely that any manager could come to Scotland and hit the ground running in time to win every necessary league game.

    We know it,

I assume Peter Lawwell knows it ,

and Dermot Desmond must surely also acknowledge this as the sad reality.

The owner and CEO may be stubborn, but they are not stupid.

Once we accept this as fact , the ‘lack of action’ on the board may make some sort of sense…..to them

    Looking from the boards perspective…

NFL is on a rolling 12 month contract. If we sack him now ,we still pay him 1 years wages.

If we do not have a replacement lined up , what is the benefit of running without a manager ( whilst paying for one)?

The board may serve Neil with his One years notice , let him run with the team untill they have identified a replacement. When the replacement is announced ( pay the balance of the contract).

Unveil the marquee manager, sell out the season tickets.

I hope somebody has a plan.

    Any plan.

  2. All for the sake of keeping the OF bandwagon firmly on the rails.

I have been saying this for years.

I have been saying it for so many years, James Forrest will tell you that way before the hun went bust I said that the Scottish government will get involved, and he told me I was crazy, remember James cos I do, I said there would be court cases and was told I was crazy, I said the biggest losers would be Celtic and again was told I was crazy and was ridiculed for saying it, I didn’t want to be right, but sadly I was.

It’s all about the OF, the sooner folks waken up to this charlatan board the better

  3. turkeybhoy

The Arsenal line-up showed Kieran Tierney as part of a back three. For Spurs second goal the break was against two defenders with KT stranded. Where have I seen that before?

  4. THE EXILED TIM:

As I’ve said to you recently mate, I have never believed in your OF Inc. Theory … but recent events have me wondering and it’s right that the question be asked.

Can anything that looks so much like self-sabotage really be anything else?

  5. Just heard a stat there on Benteke.Scored 2 today.Thats him scored 5 goals in his last 52 games as a striker.

We will be in for him in January.

  6. TLT – you are the only one on their game here sir but no, I would never break this Governments guidelines aka an mp stylie thing.

    D :)

  7. This is from BIG WAVY on 6TH DECEMBER 2020 2:03 PM

“Five defenders…..and a DM. The Brown-McGregor axis of eternal suffering and Eddie on his own, supported by 2 widemen with no end product….Christie shooting from anywhere and Rogic blowing out his bahookie by the 60th minute.”

The LARGE UNDULATING one posted the above before the teams was announced. Remarkably prescient or are we just so frigging predictable? He also forecast that Soro would get a cameo and Klimala would come on in 80 minutes. Turned out to be Turnbull with Elyounoussi ( time was exactly right), so BIG WAVY was remarkably right on the money.

  8. James Forrest

Like you, I was gutted when Lennon was given the job after the cup final.

Why do you think he got the job?

    Cheap?

Lawwell wanted a yes man after Rodgers publicly slagged him?

Not taking sevco seriously so another top managerial appointment wasn’t needed?

  9. I have said it for years James and the light is as bright as it ever was, I didn’t want to be be on this, I so wanted to be wrong and hold my hands up, I can’t see that happening any time soon under this board.

    HH

  10. I’ll blame predictive txt.Easy mistake to make. You made a mistake yourself earlier but I’m not so immature to point it out.

    Hey ho

  11. An Dun,

I’m feeling similar – this season is gone if we don’t change very, VERY soon.

I’m now mentally moving onto next season when we will probably have a new manager and very possibly a new CEO.

  12. Greenwells Glory on

Hi Ghuys, Salve salve;- I said it at the time,{ and I am truly sorry for Neil Lennon,} thta this would end badly.

I posted that the blame would lie with three people

    1} Peter Lawell

    2} Peter Lawell

    3) Peter Lawell.

Fellow Celtic fans we are going through a period that I have never experienced (during the social media phenomenon) we enjoy the social media phenomenon when things are good (the last decade) … will we be too handle Celtic not collecting trophies 🏆 who knows ???

It’s still magnificent being a Tim

    Hail Hail

Fitba was shoite today …. but a wee Monday off isn’t the worst

    Selfish Bassa CSC

(I still think we can win this title)

  14. LAMBERT14:

A bit of all of them, definitely. I actually think the third one might be as close to the mark as anything; there was no sign that Gerrard was going to be capable of putting together a winning run … but you give a manager, even a poor one, enough money and you make him look good … I am not convinced Gerrard is a genius or anything, he’s just been lavishly backed and as a result his team can beat all the SPL cannon fodder.

And yeah I think the board believed that Lennon would be good enough to stay slightly ahead and slightly ahead was good enough for their purposes.

I’ll tell you what I said at the time as well; I never wanted Lennon as manager but I also believed he would be good enough to beat Gerrard and win the league; his win ratio was astonishing before this season. I have to constantly remind myself that the best spell of it came with no competition to speak of and thus no pressure. Nevertheless, I too believed it would be good enough.

It was other people who kept pointing out the disasters he left behind at Bolton and Hibs, and although that worried me and I knew our standards would massively slip, even i wasn’t unduly concerned about the ninth or tenth titles. I thought it a horrendous appointment, but even I thought it would get us over the line.

Eventually, I knew it would end in disaster. The unravelling came, alas, a year sooner than expected. But it was always a risk, it was a possibility. The board calculated, I think, that the other lot might exhaust all their options in trying to stop the ten and if we got over the line … Game Over.

Of coruse, TET will tell you they hired Lennon because they never intended to get over that line. I can’t understand why he wasn’t sacked a month ago when it because obviious where this was headed. You start to look at it and wonder.

But in the absence of proof of that I’ll go with what you said, all of it. It’s probably on the money.

  15. JAMES FORREST on 6TH DECEMBER 2020 11:02 PM

If someone gives you a time machine and a seat on the board please don’t go back and sack Neil Lennon

  16. the exiled tim

No you are not, you are a smart cookie. One of the smartest on here and no mistake.

Thing is it was Celtic supporters who helped Fergus turn the Club into a PLC, I would have done so myself but by the time I got my application in Berlin, they were sold out. OldTim67 got in quicker. That was the way forward at the time and the fact is our success as a football club over the last twenty years or so, in Scotland at least trumps, (if I can use that word these days) even Maley and Stein, albeit in far different circumstances. Even buried our greatest rival. Then did a Burke and Hare. I am as critical of Peter Lawwell as any on here, in particular when we put our own support at risk for the sake of 800 visiting supporters, and like many cannot see the logic in a strategy which weakens our efforts to do well in the one area where we really could add revenue and if you like value to Celtic, that being Europe.

Anyways hope things are going as well as they can for you and yours.

    Hail to you!

  17. Green wells 11.18pm

Were the last 5 trophies … ending badly ?

Seemingly this time last year many Celtic fans just wanted the “9” not every Celtic fan but quite a few … Neil delivered the 9 … how bad did they end ? Or did you predict that as well

  18. GFTB:

You are never going to defend this to some of us, and we’re never going to convince you.

In my view, Lennon’s appointment was a disaster waiting to happen. I thought we might get away with it for the two years needed to win the ten, but I knew it would come at a momentous cost in wasted years, because the last spell under Lennon resulted in those wasted years.

Ronny Deila made a good fist of moderning the operation, changing the diets, focussing on fitness, had he come with a respected name the players would have bought into it and supported it all the way … and then El Rat would never have been manager in the first place.

The difference between his approach to all those areas and Deila’s was that he had the reputation to get their players to buy in. He also brought excellence in tactics and analytics, but it was Ronny who took the first steps towards cleaning up Lennon’s initial mess.

This one is going to be harder to fix, by far. But I always believed he would depart in flaming wreckage and leave behind a shambles. It was a question of when.

  19. DAVID66:

Really? We’re having a nice discussion on here tonight, loads of great back and forth, with everyone defending his (or perhaps her) position with great respect for the other posters.

It’s been … good. On a very bad day, this is what I come here on nights like this, to talk it out with intelligent, passionate Celtic fans who can argue their case.

  20. James Forrest,and TET,

So this conspiracy thing.I take it the Board are letting the Hun win this league,to keep them solvent. Now I would put nothing past money men,but the problem I have with this, and its a ball breaker,is that Lenny, and all the players would need to be in on it as well, surely.Does that really seem feasible.

Really? Can you imagine the team talk.Somebody would surely let the cat out the bag,and the club would be thrown out the League for match fixing.

    H,mmmm.Sorry,naw.

  21. David66 11.13pm

Caught your post this morning about “Hoots” and then you mentioned Griff & Eddie up front (if only) .., got me thinking of a few CQNer double acts

Lennybhoy & Leftclicktic … who met me on the train to my first hoot

BMCUWP & Cosy Corner Bhoy .,, a terrific double act and so jealous in a good way of that partnership

Philbhoy & (the much missed) Hunderbirds… two gentlemen that I ended up in a round with through CQN

CRC & badges … that Bhoy could sell sand to people who live in a desert

And hopefully … when all this COVID stuff relents ,.. Big Jimmy & David66 are on the list ….

Ooft nearly forgot AoW & Dallas (JVR) through CQN have been landed with the two of them every blinking day

CQN is a special place …

    Hail Hail

  22. TURKEYBHOY:

I told you I don’t believe it, but after a point you look at the self-inflicted nature of what we’re going through right now and you wonder “how much do they want this?”

  23. TOSB…so what’s the ultimate objective…min sit down with the board…let them show a group of fans (good in their fields of finance, marketing, PR etc..we know they’re out there) their realistic vision? Or Representation on the Board. Or both…am not greedy ;-))

    H.H.

  24. Lenny has to be gone tomorrow. For his own sake,if nothing else.He must know the fans are suffering.Keeps saying he can turn it around.Naw Lenny,ye canny.Go now.

  25. the one thing that totally amazing thing for me is the support from some fans still of peter laweell

    and would bust without him

we won all those domestic trophies in a won horse race

not buying into the Brendan Rodgers is god( Copywrite Brendan Rodgers)

but the one thing he had and most top clubs , is he knew how to run have a professional football department . He did not like an account with zero football knowledge getting involved and told Peter lawell so. only one winner and it was Peter

Peter lawell has held our club back in soo many ways, a laughing stock in Europe now

Neil is not the problem, but he is symptom of the problem , ie having an autocratic CEO who thinks can make all decisions on the football side of the club. well he has made them and failed again

  26. Greenwells Glory on

DAVID66 Salve salve;- I want nothing, least of all to be right in this matter and I do not lose any sleep over it.

    I hope you fare well

GFTB Salve save;- I did predict division, loss of form and a lack of tactical nous.,

I also predicted that in the champions league qualifiers, as soon as we came up against a bog standard cl team with a coach who had a basic understanding of tactics, we would fail to qualify.

This gives me no pleasure and anyone can see there are problems at Celtic and the the chief problem is the CEO

    Greenwells.

    Acclinis falsis animus meliora recusat.
