Totally want the best for our team

But …. surely after a multitude of trophies … we must be aware we might not always win ?

Or does the best for “our” club meaning never ever losing ? But

  2. Would it be possible for there to be a break down at board level re: who replaces him? Can’t think of any logical reason for keeping him in place. This is destroying everything they care about. Image and revenue. Pathetic shambles.

  3. Despite all of the heartfelt comments about our current situation

and how we might get out of it, I need to say, that after today’s result, without change up top NOW,

    the league is gone.

    That’s it.

Losing is part of the game. I’ll never forget losing to Feyenoord in 71 or black Sunday, I could go on but this is much more than simply losing. The chance to create history almost gone in December. Nothing bother you about that?

  5. St Thomas 9.19pm

So you did not celebrate one cup or title since Neil was appointed ?

Or …. even though you did not want him you didn’t let that stop enjoying Celtic being successful

  6. lazy dynamite

while your here you insulted me a few days ago,

by questioning my morals care to explain

  7. Lisbon,

I don’t know about GFTB,but I am fekin distraught.Could not even watch the 2nd half.

  8. GFTB

Celtic losing a league title is always tough but we are well aware we have no divine right.

Celtic playing like a bunch of strangers for 3 months is completely unacceptable.

To try and paint us as spoiled ,entitled fans is way off the mark.

Big clubs [and we used to be one] need to have standards.

The current manager and his team are dragging us into ruin.

Anyone who continues to back him is a fool.

  9. One Night 9.35pm

By your post your a wee bit older than me … late 80s early 90s weren’t that successful… this time is probably too successful for the youngsters … but I canny understand how older Celtic fans like yourself (Feynoord 1970) can be so dismissive of these times …. baffling

  10. no board or team on the planet wins everything – there are always slumps / challenges.

The issue with Celtic is that NOTHING has been good!

The mistake in appointing Lennon and not letting him bring in his own support

The mistake in bringing in Strachan to an already disjointed coaching team

The mistake in bringing in a goalkeeping coach as director of recruitment

The mistake in poor quality signings

The mistake in not communicating effectively with fans

The mistake in ignoring rangers improvement

The mistake in making the same mistakes over and over again!

Its so bad that the best coaching staff in the world would struggle to get this team on track – WE NEED AN OVERHAUL!

  11. GFTB:

This isn’t “losing” in the sense that most fans can or will accept.

This is a total failure from the club in so many ways it’s breathtaking when you look at it.

    1) Failure to hire the best manager available for the job with this season on the horizon.

    2) Failure to dispense with a strategy of letting Lawwell act as un-named director of football for years when there was clear evidence it was costing us.

    3) Failure to reform the SFA so that no club could spend more than it earned … I CANNOT REPEAT ENOUGH TIMES HOW DISASTROUS THAT WAS OR HOW FORSEABLE WAS THE CONSEQUENCE.

    4) Failure to remove the manager a month ago when this position could still have been turned around.

Lennon’s own failures are momentous and many in number … and I’ll tell you something else; I know there have been serious issues behind the scenes involving training, involving squad discipline, involving dissatisfaction with numerous elements of the football operation … and those issues have been well known to people on the board who ignored them to huge cost of all.

Lennon should never have been hired again. There were well-known factors to do with his previous tenure at the club, including some like the basic fitness of players, which were highlighted by Ronny Deila when he took over and who’s recurrence has surprised few of us who were just waiting for them.

Lennon’s comments tonight about players who just can’t get fit are damning to HIM and the coaching team … he has ceased to be our biggest problems, although sacking him is our more pressing business. It’s those who have left him there this long in spite of all that who are the real issue.

This is not losing in a way we should accept. This is like self-sabotage. This isn’t just one self inflicted gunshot wound either, it’s a half dozen of them. It’s just unacceptable.

I watched it without emotion. That’s what this season has done to me. I wasn’t angry, annoyed or upset just accepted that this is now the new normal and that nothing will change until it’s way too late. Eben then these shysters will probably give the job to Kennedy until the end of the season. You reap what you sow. The Celtic support will not forget this and guys like Desmond and Lawwell will not be remembered for the success they brought but for their failure to admit they got it wrong with Lennon.

  13. BHOY FROM THE BOYNE- I got same message about half 6,followed by the guy saying someone is putting out fake news, BTW I believe the content of it no matter what.

  14. May have seen it on here or somewhere else, after Leicester won the league in 15/16, the following season they were rotten. The sacked Ranieri in November i think. Reason was the owners didn’t want his reputation sullied by relegation so they saved him from himself. They wanted to give him more time but didn’t.

Its been a shocking, staggering and saddening betrayal of Lenny by DD & PL. Lenny actually has the look of a man who wants out of this misery. Why they have left him to stew and have his reputation ripped to shreds i will never know.

  15. DanDan

That was a beautifully poignant tribute for Daniel, may he rest in peace. My sincerest condolences to you and the whole family on your loss. YNWA

As to today’s result…scunnered…that’s what happens when the professionalism instilled by BR has slowly been eroded

    Copenhagen v Man Utd

I think around August time due to COVID

    Sorry mate..in your head only.

As I explained earlier to your post Copenhagen only progressed one tie after beating us against Istanbull in the last 16..They got knocked out by man utd in the last 8 NOT the semi finals……but hey, don’t let facts get in the way of a good line

  18. Last season we played 37 games in Scotland, won 33, drew 2 lost 2, won every trophy available to us.

It’s easy to forget (well, not really) that we only won the league because we were so far ahead when it ended. If it had been closer we’d be looking at this being the nine not the ten

No one said he was a bad appointment in March

Then we kept our players, and spent our cash pile on supposedly quality players who would improve our squad

Does that not sound like a plan for success, appoint a manager capable of those sort of results and then when he wins everything in sight improve the squad from the mythical “position of strength?”

  19. the exiled tim

If I buy 1000 Celtic PLC shares tomorrow will you give me £74 for each of them?

Because if you will consider that a done deal.

  20. If you’d have been offered our position in March, or after our transfer business last window who would have turned it down?

  21. CELTIC40ME:

“No one said he was a bad appointment in March.”

No? I said he was a bad appointment the day he got the gig. A lot of people did. A lot of said that even the winning of trophies would not change that it was a dire decision, made by weak men who lacked ambition.

Only one question mattered at that time; is this the best we could do?

And it wasn’t, and everyone knew it wasn’t, and that we were, therefore, not in the best position we could be in for trying to win this title. That’s on the people who made that call … but Lennon is the architect of his own failures, and some of the problems WERE evident last season to those who wanted to look.

  22. I was working today and was with a client for most of the game.

Afterwards I wasn’t shocked to read that we dropped points again and as ONIL said about 9:20 I’m beyond being gutted as I’ve got to the stage I am not surprised if we don’t win. In fact a good performance and win would be more surprising at the minute!

Someone earlier mentioned the only person who can get us out of this is Eddie Howe. Nonsense! I’d love Eddie Howe but there will be loads of managers who can get the best out of this team.

If we can’t get Howe I think Nigel Pearson would do a great job. I’m not a fan of him as a person but could put up with him to beat the huns.

  23. TURKEYBHOY on 6TH DECEMBER 2020 9:37 PM

    What’s speculation? And you’ve swerved my question….

My first point was that BR didn’t sign Shved. I don’t think it’s speculation when Rodgers himself said he didn’t want him.

My second point was that whoever is signing the players isn’t fit for purpose. The fact we have players in the stand that has costs tens of millions is testament to that.

    CELTIC40ME:

No? I said he was a bad appointment the day he got the gig.

    You’re a visionary

Go ahead and answer the question you want to instead of the one I asked

  25. GFTB on 6TH DECEMBER 2020 9:55 PM

Manchester United played Sevilla in the semi-finals, not FC København.

  26. CELTIC40ME and JAMES FORREST

I must admit, the announcement of Neil Lennon who I was very grateful for guiding us over the line, took the wind right out of my sails after celebrating the cup win – many of the people I watched the match with agreed too.

  27. James Forrest 9.43pm

    Just saw your post …

90% of the Celtic fans I know are now turning on Neil … even I think he can’t take us further (that is typed with a heavy heart) … but there is no way on this earth I will ever berate a Celtic player who has delivered so much …

Am no getting into any board or PLC shoite .. i get on enough trouble on here about the fitba :-)

Again … James F .. I think your contributions on here are terrific .. but some CQNers are protective of our host … and quite rightly so
