16roads….Wee Walker was a great striker for us, he never stopped, an idiot of a pundit but probably plays to his Sky gallery…….

*When willie woodbine (as he was known) was surprisingly sine died, he was just shy of his 35the birthday at the time so although club and country captain no real loss anyway, deidco moved big corky, only 3 years younger and looking on his way out, from the right back position to centre half as well as captain.

He played on for another 3 seasons picking up a solitary championship medal before himself being moved on.

Rising star “dickie” valentine was snapped up, under our noses I believe, from Queens Park as his replacement, at 27 he was no spring chicken, that lasted until October 19 and then was airbrushed fae their history.

He was replaced by larkhaw native willie telfer a 32 year old St Mirren veteran whose only cap was when he was with the buddies although he did win a championship and SC medal with them tae go with his SC winners badge while at Love Street.

3 years later he was let go being replaced by an up and coming diamonds 23 year old centre half called doug baillie, future father of our “happy birthday game” centre half Lex.

In one of his first appearances for the huns, at home tae, he faced a young 17 year old centre forward who would soon be known as “Big Yogi”. We had gubbed them 5 days previously so they revamped their defence tae include their new “hope”, we also changed our side moving Smiler tae the left wing in place of a wee headstrong ten thirty with our new ‘hope” coming in at the centre forward position

The Bear ran amok that day as only we now know he can; with the big lumbering bailie frantically trying tae catch him, a star was born that day.

Big hapless doug would in his 4 years there only play around 30 games, quite astonishing really considering the veteran telfer would accomplish almost 70 in only 3 years there.

He would eventually leave for Cathkin in a swap deal for rising full back star junior mcgillivray who never kicked a ball for the hun first team, another waste of Scottish talent.

Back tae Yogi, seemingly at Mass the next day during the homily the priest, detailing how God created man in his own image, allegedly said tae the Bear “who made you John”, to which he’s supposed tae have replied “doug baillie made me Father”.

Mirroring that IMHO Frank McAvennie made the former trotter.

Totally correct. Lou stayed in Glasgow as we had to go to court in Berwick cause of some shenanigans :)

If history was to repeat itself, then we should beat Aberdeen in the final, before celebrating

    Lisbon 50.

I think Foulin’ Joe Garner is afraid to play against us.

He contrived to get himself carded in midweek, meaning he misses next week’s game.

Against Hamilton, he tried for the red, which would have cost him the semi.

Unfortunately for him, Cheatin’ Beaton didn’t play ball.

  14. Tobago Street on

Not read back yet but wanted to note GMS’s contribution.

Great effort and lots of running. Crucial decisions I think he choose poorly.

    I feel for him.

I’m hopeful his mistakes today are not lost but used to make him a better player.

I’m sure Brendan Rogers will see to it.

I think the next time we see him he’ll be much improved.

The wee Maryhill Tim made sure we were first oot. :) God bless Bertie.

  17. Thomthethim

I heard Garner speak for the first time yesterday. He’s thick, absolutely thick. I don’t think he has the intelligence to plan anything except his next word.

  18. Surely there can be no accusations of a fixed semi final draw today? Now, I may be completely mistaken but I’m pretty certain that Triggers Broom FC would not have wanted to play us.

  19. Tobago

I was at the game today, and saw GMS win more ball than some Celtic players, I think Paddy’s overall ‘beating men’ will exclude him for the next routine league game.

GMS is way too good for ‘the norm’ and he gets Celtic, and I hope he stays, which may be decided in and around Paddy Roberts and Manchester City.

  20. Tobago Street

I felt for GMS today. He seemed to lack confidence and made many mistakes and many bad choices. He also worked very hard and won balls he had no right to win. Unfortunately, he did little with that well won possession.

I don`t think we will see much of him when Forrest and Sinclair are available and whilst Roberts is still here.

Shame, really, because there is no doubt he has talent.

    JJ

  21. HT

I think Garner was the one who said that he was just glad to get the three points yesterday !

    JJ

  22. HAMILTONTIM

He’s a danger to other players in the league, that wee runt McCann yesterday smirking and calling him Joey, typifies why the football players in this country are booted out of the game.

How Beaton contrived to leave him on the park yesterday is beyond the realms of reason!

I look forward to his meeting with the Brick Wa’ that is Eboue K:))

    HH

  23. Gary Macay Steven didn’t have the best of games (halfs) but some of the comments/abuse are lamentable. As Brendan said post match, the players aren’t robots.

    Zig and zag…..

Sentiment ….I love it …these guys are the future….money leaves you …..love never does…

Difficult. …choices for the hooped jersey should always be hard ….

    Without sentiment…..???

    Feck off etc etc etc

    Braw.

  25. At game today.

Minutes silence – brill by both sets of supporters.

St Mirren played well. Again, difference this season is BR knows when to change…..

Anyone thinking of going to Blackpool w/e 28th May …………..book early as Larkhall will be emptying that weekend.

  26. What is the Stars on

I thought GMS was brave today. Physically brave to stick his head into a flying boot (penalty maybe), morally brave to keep showing for the ball when things were going wrong for him.

Would love to see him score a goal or 2, maybe even a match winner, would do his confidence a world of good.

Roberts and Forest ahead of for the position but I wouldn’t be writing him off.

  27. I was saying to my neighbour last week that GMS was playing for his place. He was trying so hard. I think he’s really giving his all but his confidence seems to be low. He is certainly brave. He nearly got his head knocked off today. Too many Celtic supporters too often too quickly look for a scapegoat. It’s nothing new. Even the Lions got their share of it, especially Stevie and Big Yogi.

  28. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Delaney’s, that trip to Berwick was a bit mental. Especially when Newcastle fans turned up and were stuck between them and the Sunderland support.

There was a guy on the Lions that day. he used to wear a seventies style full length coat occasionally, who was marched out of the ground by the polis.

Some Sunderland fans behind us were singing the sash but we never reacted.

I’m glad Lou stayed on here, a top top man.
