Cluj or Maccabi Tel-Aviv gives Celtic generous draw

258

If Celtic overcome Nomme Kalju in the Champions League second qualifying round, they will face either Cluj or Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the third qualifier.

Cluj are one of those clubs who will never be taken lightly, after a remarkable win away to Roma in the Champions League nine years ago, but recent times have not been as prosperous.  They lost out in last year’s Europa League qualifiers to Luxembourg’s Dudelange.  In the first qualifying round this season, Cluj recorded an unexpected win against Astana, who are seeded only slightly lower than Celtic.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv went out of the Europa League playoff round last season to Norwegians, Sarpsborg.  This was a poor showing by Maccabi, but there are caveats – the Norwegians were midseason and subsequently put on a decent showing in their Europa group.

Apart from Saturday’s Super Cup, this will be Maccabi Tel-Aviv’s first competitive outing of the season, so you would not bet against Cluj taking down their second seed of the campaign.

There is work to do, but it we cannot reach the payoff round from this draw, we do not deserve to be there.

At the first flush of it, we can probably do a good job in Cluj. ;]

Lets just take one match @ a time we know their are no mugs

in European footy nowadays so lets just cross one bridge @

a time & hopefully we will have CL Group Stage footy to look

    forward too this Season come-on-the-Hoops.

  10. When I bought my ticket ( online) for this Wednesday`s game, I was informed that it would be posted to me.

    Nothing has arrived yet.

Are our ST`s not activated for this game?

  11. Can’t imagine McIlroy celebrating by singing, The Fiekds & Grace. Shane Lowry is the real deal, 100% Gael, huge GAA fan and just a bloody nice ordinary guy who enjoys a few pints and has no airs & graces about him.

No Yankee Brides for our Shane, married to a girl from his own wee town, the Country is on a high after his win, Celebrations will last for a week at least,

  12. Hot Smoked

I certainly hope the STs have been activated, otherwise there will be trouble at’ mill…!

Hot Smoked if you are in the home cup ticket scheme & the payment has

come off you visa debit card then yes your card will be activated if not

then no. If your ticket has not arrived by tomorrow then rifle over to the

CP ticket cabin & sort it out if I was you I would join the home match

ticket scheme it cuts out the hassle of having to take time out to go over

to the ticket office just check like I do that said payment has come out

of your account via online Banking it tells you the ticket price & when

it will come out of ones Bank A/c on the Celtic FC. Net website under

    home match tickets info

  14. AKBW, I sincerely hope that is not the case. No logical reason why STs should not be activated.

  15. Hot Smoked just supply the ticket office a valid debit card bank a/c number

& sort code & they will set up a direct debit & you will not have to worry

about any future Bhoys European & Domestic Cups Home Matches

  16. Thanks for the replies.

Living in Arbroath, `nipping`in to the Ticket Office is not an option.

Also, as I don`t go to SFA Cup games, the Home Ticket Scheme is not worth it for me.

The Season Card covers 21 matches the 1st match was the Rennes FC Friendly the 2nd

match was last Wednesday’s match against the hackers from Bosnia so that’s the two

spare matches deducted from your Season Card the other 19 is the SPL Home fixtures

the rest European & Domestic Cup matches we all have to pay except for the rights to

buy sections like Club Celtic (Old Investors) The 67 Club & So on who have a lot of these

matches except for the Group Stages included in their overall Season Card cost so for

ghuys & ghirls like ourselves we have to pay for these additional matches either by

going to the ticket office & purchasing one or joining the home cup ticket scheme

Did they not send you an attachment when you purchased your ticket for

tomorrows match online via their website?

I’ve seen supporters in the past using printed off A4 Forms to access the

  19. We should suggest @ the next Celtic AGM which will probably be in November that

Friendly matches should be removed from our Season Card Fixtures after all to get

into the CL or Europa League Group Stages nowadays one has to negotiate past

four teams so the first two home fixture rounds should be included in our Season

Card Fixtures fairs fair & considering their was less than 20,000 @ the Rennes

friendly goes to show that our supporters are not really interested in getting

ones fitness up matches & also the Season Card prices are also being jacked up

as each Season pasts so its only fair that if our fellow supporters want to go to

friendlies @ a reasonable price then they can purchase a ticket via the usual

options this is certainly a fair & useful point to raise @ this years next AGM &

See what they have to say about said suggestion
