Come to Celtic, we’ll make you a superstar

Moussa Dembele made the most of his debut opportunity for France under-21s yesterday. Arriving as a second half substitute, he soon won a penalty for France’s third and scored their fourth goal. The world has changed for Moussa since coming into the Celtic team for the injured Leigh Grifiths and scoring a hat-trick against Newco less than a month ago.

This is great news for the player but at a time when Celtic are pitching the opportunity to other young players to come to Celtic Park instead of sitting in the development teams of an English club, it’s just as good news for the player.

Moussa isn’t any better than he was at Fulham last year. Had he stayed, or moved to an English Premier League club, none of this would have happened. The move to Celtic has been career-changing within two months of the new season starting.

Telling Moussa’s story, and that of Fraser, Virgil and Victor, will be done again and again whenever Celtic track a player. “Come to Celtic, we’ll make you a superstar” is the mantra.

I see a bit of chat on the review of how away tickets are distributed.  Celtic have asked for input from lots of fans on this in recent weeks.  There are a few areas that aren’t working as well as they could at the moment, so the consultation is a good step.

Wee BGFC wanted to go – went on the SFA website – tickets are £40 each – more than Hoops vs Citeh !!!!

With travel, parking, sweeties, etc., that would be a £100 evening out at Hampdump.

I said “Sorry Wee BGFC, it is a night in front of the telly for us !” …

….he’s still a wee bit excited about the game, though :-)

Does anyone have any details about this away-tickets consultation – where can I see / engage with the consultation?

    What questions have been asked?

Can’t see anything on Celtic FC site.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Chairbhoy – good start. In fact, start those 4 and we probably don’t need anyone else?

BGFC – Aye, I had heard the cheapest tickets were £35 so me and my gang will also be armchair supporters. Accompanied by a curry and beer so there’s always an upside.

Cheers BT – just emailed him as follows:

    ….

Heard through CQN today that there is an ongoing consultation re: away ticketing.

Me and my wee boy (13) go to every away game (even those for which we don’t have allocated tickets – been to Inverness, Dingwall etc., without tickets, and usually managed to get ‘spares’ – only failure is Tynecastle), and take every ticket offered ( calls them ‘away ticket bonus points’).

Anyway – obviously we would be very worried if any proposed changes would reduce our chances of getting tickets.

We are not members of any supporters club – my own old club (Airdrie St Serfs) wound up a good few years ago, and much prefer the flexibility of independent travel.

Have you any details of the consultation? I would be happy to chip in – obviously would try to protect the interests of the regular-attending independent travelers.

  19. Very quiet all round, was in Glasgow today and the whole place was quiet, perhaps we are bottling up our passion for Hampden tomorrow night? Not fecking likely.

much as I want Scotland to do well, the whole entity of international football is a busted flush.

The Tartan Army are a travelling circus of people who just want a wee break from watching Falkirk, Montrose and the likes.

I was a member of old school Wembley clubs back in the day, when people just took our money without patronising us. I fail to get excited about Scotland games anymore and I have no idea when it happened. I remember the buzz of France 98 and Italia 90, and that is about the end of it.

maybe I am just getting g too old?

And to link this to the current Celtic away fan issue, I was recently speaking with a few ex Tartan Army folks at work. They for years paid an annual fee which allowed them to join a queue to be offered away tickets to watch Scotland however they’d never been offered tickets.

Apparently all tickets go to those who are first in the list (i.e. if you were there first you stay there), and according to those I was speaking to lots of those on the list take the tickets to sell on??

  22. Saw an article on the BBC site about famous sports people who have announced their retirements then came back again. The article included Henrik. The accompanying photograph was of Henrik in a Man U top. Why?

I had a feeling the anti- Celtic stuff was diminishing. After today`s examples ( The ten photos as well as the response of the police to the Scotzine guy`s serious complaints) , I am much less sure.

Right, off to watch Edinburgh and Treviso.

So blogs are closing down due to intimidation and threats of violence and the scottish sectarian polis are doing sfa, par for the course, the journos won’t tell the truth cos they are in fear for their famillys, who can blame them for spouting the bigot shilling, really, at the end of the day the knuckledraging hoards are killing themselfs, they have intimidated the media to do the three monkeys so much so that they have already died are in line to kick the bucket for a second time, they are set on world records, and for the life of me I very much doubt they will be beaten to their football club dieing twice.

I hope they burn in hell for all eternity, it’s the least they deserve.
