Commons, Hartson and some real Celtic heroes

907

Had a great time at the Celtic Supporters Association Rally last night.  It was a great celebration of all that is good about our club, with thousands of pounds raised for the John Hartson Foundation.  Neil Lennon spoke warmly of John, about his courage and ability.  As well as recognising the great achievements of this season, CSA Player of the Year, Kris Commons, could not hide his disappointment that we are not going for a treble next week.  Hibs will have their hands full with him at Hampden next week.

I’ve never heard a footballer talk as John Hartson did.  He was clearly emotional as he took the microphone from the manager but soon go into his flow.  He told us about the three hours spent in the car before telling his family the diagnosis of his illness.  His achievements as a footballer are remarkable and John is very proud of them.  His absence through injury in Seville clearly hurt.  Did it pass a crucial advantage to Porto?  John thinks so.

His own failings were put out there with the disarming confidence that only someone who has climbed a few personal mountains can do.  The ‘hangers-on’, who filled his days a few years ago, had their cards marked.

Reamonn Gormley’s parents, Jim and Ann, were also guests of the Association.  Jim asked me to pass on a thank you from him and Ann to all Celtic fans for what they have done for them and the Thai Tims in the last two years.  Their world will never be the same again but the support they have received from the Celtic Family has overwhelmed them.  Your community has done very well, but there is nothing new in that.

With supporters like we have our club is in good hands.   Well done to all who carry out the thankless tasks running busses, organising fundraisers and keeping the moral compass pointing in the right direction.

First time today so never from Balmaha side. Need to say that the folks I met coming from that way seemed a little more out of puff than I was !

My whole plan was based on finishing at Balmaha for the reward of a beer.

Would like your advice on where next. Remember just gearing up so nothing that will stop me in my tracks please. Cheers

You and others helped shape my Celtic support.

Thats why I question the interest folk have about a daft wee division 3 (Three) club. To me rangers were irrelevant, good CQN posters helped teach me that, and it’s right ‘rangers’ are irrelevant. They didn’t deserve the time folk gave them when they were still alive, never mind now.

As i said, I have no interest in them, when I tune into CQN it’s hard to find things to get interested in when its old firm fans salivating over company law.

They were irrelevant and whatever is trying to raise their name is not worth the publicity they seek yet get through Celtic Timtermet.

I’m not prepared to ignore them until the cheating stops ..otherwise they will just get away with it

For over a decade everyone ignored THEIR cheating-in fact,it has been ignored all of my life, and more.

  23. Good evening chaps n chapesses.

Listening to SSB tonight it is clear the never read my missive on why The Rangers could not have played in a UEFA competition for 3 years.

They quoted unaudited accounts and unpaid tax as the reason. In fact neither of these requirements produces a 3 year exile. Justice would not allow it if you think about it.

It would be possible for a club guilty of both to put both matters right in any of the three following years. As long as the criteria for both are met when a licence is sought then the applicant is not refused for not having three years of accounts where one year is unaudited or for not paying tax one year but paying it the next.

Nope there is no 3 year exile for unaudited accounts or unpaid tax unless the condition applies every year for as many years as you like.

Nope the 3 year exile comes from not being a football club which is a legal entity responsible for operating the team ( note football club =legal entity) that has not had a change of

Barnes Wallis designed an ‘earthquake bomb’ which was simply an enormous amount of conventional explosive dropped from a great height in order to penetrate approx 100 feet before it detonated. It would have caused the dam foundation to fail and subsequently the dam itself would be irreparably damaged.

He was confronted by a number of problems. A ‘plane would only be able to carry one bomb; the plane would have to be able to carry an enormous payload at an extreme height; if the bomb didn’t detonate, thereby handing both technology and propaganda to the enemy.

The Americans refused to share heavy bomber technology, the B-29 which was used to bomb Japan, both conventionally and nuclear, was unavailable to Barnes Wallis.

The effect of the ‘dambusters’ raid was more propaganda than strategy.
