Commons needed for busy February

963

Neil Lennon’s comments that he will need to sell at Bolton Wanderers before making a bid for Kris Commons, or anyone else, are welcome.  Celtic have four important games in the four weeks after this transfer window closes: home and away to Inter Milan, Aberdeen in the league, and a League Cup semi-final against newco Rangers.  Commons will be vital for some, if not all of these games.

Inter will play on the front foot and Aberdeen have the players to take the game to us, as they did in the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park last season, but I expect newco to defend their 18 yard line in numbers, a bit like Ross County did last week, a scenario which will require someone with Commons’ craft.

Neil Warnock’s sacking at Crystal Palace was good news, as he wanted Commons, had money to spend and could offer the allure of top-flight football.  Neil Lennon would be able to offer Commons familiarity, but with Bolton spending a total of £300k in the summer, their chances of being able to afford a bid for Commons that would raise Celtic’s interest are limited.

Again you have a valid point, maybe they should be sold on, maybe rumours are incorrect or maybe ronny is the problem

    Nobody knows

You are the most inoffensive person on here.

That’s a compliment by the way

I have a mate, big Packers Fan, was featured in a DR article specifically about him supporting the Packers. Recall him going on Holiday and taking in a few of the games. Office worker so no Baseball Cap but has a Mug and a Lanyard in the Office. His first Team is of course Celtic. Lives in Croy.

  5. Melbourne Mick on

Hello again all you young rebels.

Club day again woop woop, princess ironing my Celtic top

    as we speak.

A blistering 41 degs here in Melbourne yesterday and lots

of bush fires down Adelaide way with thousands of cattle,

sheep, and wee forest creatures killed, some houses lost

but no human life lost as far as i know.

What a huge respect i have for the job those firefighters do

amazing people and some are just volunteers.

Raining now down the peninsula which is a relief so hopefully

it spreads down to the fire areas.

  7. What is the Stars

There’s always go be friction when a new boss comes in, the minimum the new guys deserves is respect and time, any player who doesn’t want to make the changes should get his request in and move on, too many these days think they are bigger than the club, you think you’re bigger than Celtic, there’s the door chum would be my reply:))

I feel it’s going to be a loooooong windae:))

    WITS OUT:))

  8. II love how many people assume that even if mibbery took sevco to the title that they’d somehow waltz through the qualification to the awaiting riches.

  9. I think Commons is this seasons Sammy. I would have no problem moving him on if the others could be trusted to score regularly. You could argue our best games of the season included Commons – Salzburg away and Aberdeen home.

I don’t think Dundee Utd are anything to write home about but Aberdeen are worth keeping an eye on. Consistent and have a good forward line.

We will all be in a better frame of mind if we win at Kilmarnock.

  10. If Ronny is given time and backing he will come good. Any players that are not buying into his regime should be shown the door.

  11. wits

Thanks so much for that buddy. The old body is a bit slower than the bra….. Make that the mind. My only wish is that Celtic FC do enough to ensure we are top of the pile for my lifetime, hahaha, which, probably no that long, as league titles go. I’m gibbering now, lack of sleep and excess rum and coke, finally kicking in. ZOOMTIME FOR ALL ZOOMERS. Night.

We blew home field advantage by losing in buffalo .. Think it will be a Seahawks / packers conference game in Seattle

Fancy us against anyone in Green Bay especially in January when it’s the frozen tundra . I’ve experienced that and it’s such an advantage as other teams don’t normally play or train in minus 20

I wouldn’t rule us out in seattle and the cowboys will be tough if we get them next but I do think the sb winners will be NFC

    What if. ..

    You work in a factory.

You have a manager who you respect, he is fair, and seems to know how to get results, everyone works, and bonuses are achieved every year

Then. ..he leaves and a new guy comes in

    He has some radical ideas

His ideas don’t seem to be working, there is talk of no bonuses this year

A lot of the guys aren’t happy, and they aren’t working as hard as they used to. Many would leave if new jobs were offered

    Maybe that’s where we are

  14. What is the Stars

Exactly mate, I worked in kitchen teams for years, the Top Bhoy leaves takes one or two with him new guy comes in, brings one or two with him, things change, some stay some go, no big thing…

Any kind of “Revolution” takes a little while to settle in:))

Would love to pull up some of the posts complaining about the football under Neil, WGS, Anto Mor etc etc.

We love a moan do us Celts.

Monday is a big game now as they all are at Celtic and me ah canny wait, feck this holiday pash get the Hoops on the park.

  15. This any player who doesnt do as Deila says should be shown the door is total nonsense…what has Deila done that makes his word gospil…he aint Mourinho..he has won the norwegian league…thats it…he aint guardiolla…he has lots too prove…

  16. BGX –

Read the article. A 4 sentence “quote” from an unattributed source on an internet website I’ve never heard of before. So what?

Here’s one for you – I spoke directly to a member of Celtic hierarchy last week who told me that they are satisfied that we are still in 4 competitions and that RD’s job is 100% safe.

Any thoughts on the other 2 points I made?

  17. I base that on being in all 4 competitions. Some of the performances have been poor but some have showed we are improving. Neil Lennon was a great manager but some of the performances in his time were much worse than we have seen so far under Ronny.Plenty wanted Neil hunted but it turned out not to bad in the end.

  18. What is the Stars on

    Starry plough

I suppose the difference is you weren’t expected to win kitchen of the year every year

  19. Bgx

His word is gospel because he is the manager he may not be Mourinho but in saying that none of our players are Hazard.

  20. Natknow…satisfied…mm..not happy …overjoyed…but satisfied..

    Cool..

Other points…ok ..think Armstrong would have no probs with the mibs…against more defensive teams..

    Again ..no probs..

I know that chap very well. Great big guy and loves the Packers and Celtic.

  22. So we’ve had Celtic compared to a sales team, kitchen staff and a factory team, one posters thinking if highly paid players aren’t getting their bonus then they have a right to not perform. Wow this site is plummeting
