CQN Golf Open knocks it out the park again

1384

We had our 11th annual CQN Charity Golf Open at Aberdour in Fife yesterday and it was another brilliant occasion.  £2000 was raised for good causes, including a local Aberdour need, Tommy Burns’ Charity and the Celtic Foundation.

My thanks to the Joe Miller, who regaled us with tales of Maradona, Jinky and Sugar Roy Aitken.  The buzz he got from playing for Celtic is clear.  The day wouldn’t be possible without Taggsybhoy and BlantyreKev, but it takes an entire crowd to make special nights like this, so thanks to each of you.

This afternoon’s game against Rennes is an important step towards getting the players fully fit but the 90 minutes have to be balanced against the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday.  I expect Ronny will ask the players the burn the flame brightly for a short period, before making lots of changes.

  5. So what can/will the SFA/SPFL do about the sectarian singing ?

If it was Celtic park they wouldn’t need to do anything as the CCTV footage would have already been reviewed and the offending and non offending supporters would have been locked up at 05:00 this morning.

PFAyr – I had a nice wee piece of restorative justice the other day.

One of Shangri La’s fallen angels was reminiscing with me about the time he had called me a’ Fenian b###ard ‘, following a difference of opinion over his methadone scrip.

As a result he’d gone up before the Governor and been given 7 days in the Digger.

You can decide for yourself who’s the real victim in this scenario ;/)

Imo, they may be deluded, if they really believe their guff; I feel that they are also dangerous. They sound cornered and ready to tilt not at windmills but anyone who does not share their mindset.

  12. In line with Barcamole’s story of YNWA in Dubai.

I was at Sunday evening mass in the Catholic Church in Ahmadi Q8.

Sunday was a work day and Friday mass attendance was the normal.

However, most of us stuck with our ingrained tradition.

As the first communion hymn finished we all edged to the back of the packed, and sweaty, church preparing for the dash to the car park and home for dinner.

The Indian choir started the second communion him and we all stopped and joined in.

Scottish Celtic fans and English Liverpool fans were all swaying together and singing loudly.

Not a common occurrence for the UK ex Pats to sing so lustily.

No one could leave the church.

Then to top it all off the finished with Faith of Our Fathers.

Even the priest was looking on in astonishment.

Sad to say they never repeated those hymns again.

Don Quixote they are not. They lie to themselves and to each other constantly. It’s the only way they can cope in the face of the reality which they deny, ignore and groundlessly contradict. They are full of threats about being back in their rightful place and what they are going to to do when they are. They are protected as sacrosanct. Any decent society would have obliterated them and sought to erase them from memory. They get grants to build their bonfires in Northern Ireland.

Roy Croppie, sorry for the delay to your earlier post. My wife took me out to look at wallpaper even though she doesn’t want to redecorate until next year!!!!.

Billy Stark went up in my estimation when he missed a penalty when we beat the Dons 2 1 in 1984.

Seriously , he was a very important player for us in the Centenary season. Some guys who stood beside us that season called Billy, Casper, as he would ghost in at the back post often.

They could make sectarian singing a club liability offense, as UEFA have. I’m pretty sure even the hun support would begin to police themselves as the fines and point deductions built up.

It almost goes without saying that songs of a political republican nature will be cited to ‘even things up’ also, if this was implemented.

Lennons Passion, thanks for posting that link of Billy’s eulogy at Tommy’s funeral.

It definitely was his finest performance.

I checked up some other youtube footage about Tommy’s passing away. Gordon Strachan’s interview was very poignant foucusing on Tommy’s great humanity.
