CQN Golf Open knocks it out the park again

1384

We had our 11th annual CQN Charity Golf Open at Aberdour in Fife yesterday and it was another brilliant occasion.  £2000 was raised for good causes, including a local Aberdour need, Tommy Burns’ Charity and the Celtic Foundation.

My thanks to the Joe Miller, who regaled us with tales of Maradona, Jinky and Sugar Roy Aitken.  The buzz he got from playing for Celtic is clear.  The day wouldn’t be possible without Taggsybhoy and BlantyreKev, but it takes an entire crowd to make special nights like this, so thanks to each of you.

This afternoon’s game against Rennes is an important step towards getting the players fully fit but the 90 minutes have to be balanced against the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday.  I expect Ronny will ask the players the burn the flame brightly for a short period, before making lots of changes.

Showing your colours shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of, unless there sevco colours or the butchers apron

    nice wee place

  4. Hunskelp, fine, but there is a time and place; why in airports, Spanish beaches etc, where the only others who might care are in our case Celtic or Sevco supporters, despite the many tales of locals giving us the thumbs up.

A 30 degree heat will face Celtic in Baku a week on Wednesday, conditions entirely different from those experienced in the country’s capital last winter. “It was a bit cold when we were there and they just painted the grass green. If you fell down, you were all green,” he said.

  6. TET: I’m with you on that. I wear Celtic polo tops all the time in the class room. It is one way of keeping interest in Celtic alive. One teacher in the school tried to organise a school tour to a Liverpool match. He got no takers. Another teacher, a Man U fan got 16 for his tour. I’m on around nine hundred over twenty years…..and still counting.

Always think it is so sad to see Brit men travelling around Europe and beyond sporting the shirt/top of their football team – includes Celtic.

    Agreed…..

Over 30s should never be seen in a match shirt ….unless they actually are still fit enough to play the game…..

The Huns abroad make me squirm….full ensemble with shorts and socks too….

Dunno…..is it only a Glasgow phenomenon?

I knew a guy who took a bad turn in an Indian restaurant.

    He slipped into a Korma.

  11. I blame the board for all our Celtic supporters wearing the hoops in public outwith match days, copyright canalman

  12. Anyway, must get to bed for some beauty sleep; wearing my Celtic pyjamas of course.

  13. Sipsini: Funny you should say that. My boss is a sevco supporter and when he calls to my classroom he knocks on my door but never enters. Something got to do with the way my room is decorated, apparently.

  16. I was at Luton Airport in April and there were some English blokes, 50+ with bellies to match. They were all wearing Borussia Dortmund tops.

TBH, I thought it was a bit sad – different if they were German or so – even though the atmosphere there is nearly of CP proportions.

Ron, I don’t spend my life worrying about what other people wear. It’s their choice. I think I stopped commenting about other people’s idea of style when I left school 42 years ago.

Pog, thanks for posting that link from Borussia Dortmund.

They have went up in my estimation even higher.

A number of years ago, Barca kicked out a group of ultras with extreme intolerant views from the Camp Nou and had their club membership revoked.

The rivalry between football clubs Rangers and Celtic goes past typical … loyalty and a near-Pavlovian revulsion at anything to do with a rival.

You should try working in the hun cowp I do, a lot of nice blokes from both sides but some bitter b*****s, that have only got worse since their team died.

As posted earlier, they seem to have found my phone number again after Saturday, it’s been a long time and by feck I won’t miss them when the s**t hits the fan, not that I ever have:)

Awe_naw sounds good. I was looking at the BvB v Darmstadt fixture but it is on 27.09 and that is the day I am travelling back from Oktoberfest.

  24. Tried to buy a ticket for Qarabag on Wednesday but cant get a seat which isn’t restricted view so gave up. Then tried Celtic tv to see if theyd have audio for uk but it isn’t listed. Am I missing something? Our biggest game of the season.

  25. Pog, I don’t worry at all about grown men wearing football tops in public other than when on way to and from matches, just think they are saddos at other times.
