Decision still to be made

294

When Celtic made the decision to offer Ange Postecoglou the manager’s job, the deal was done within 48 hours, most of which was spent dealing with his employer.

If nothing else, the club have been thorough this time. Candidates have been interviewed, including Brendan, who is without an employer, but there has been no rush to appoint.

Despite having a strong offering and good applicants, there is nervousness at board level, these decisions have huge consequences.

All you and me know for sure is that the decision has not been made, despite affirmation to the contrary.  There’s no way Celtic are sitting on a decision.

And yet while being 5 up at celtic park and 4 up at hampden we eased up and didnt go for the seven or more because he didnt know that was a record.

I wonder if Police Scotland had any say or influence over those score lines as they did with Lennon (think it was NL anyhoo) when 2-0 up at Hampden and he was told if we go 3-0 up the hun fans were going to storm the pitch. We held off at 2-0 when we could’ve battered them into the dirt.

Day one: Rogers interview is Just Noise

Day Two: Away from Public Scrutiny

Day Three: Decision still not made

While evry major news outlet in the UK has told us the job is BRs

Our own in house media have dampened our enthusiasm

So has Paul got a direct line to Peter Lawwell and has Peter dampened the possibility that BR will return

    OR

Has Paul 67 decided to dampen the prospect of BR returning

The past 3 days have not been joyous regarding a BR return

    OR

Has our scribe got some info the media in the UK do not have

Everything I read and watch (apart from CQN) suggests BR is going to be our next Manager

Yet CQN is where I think the real Celtic story emerges

I read CQN before the Daily Record

But even The Daily Record is more positive about BR returning than CQN

Is there a surprise about to catch us all

Or has Paul 67 found himself between a source (PL) and a negative personal view on BR

The scribe has the right to write

But I do not feel any CQN love for BR

    And that’s a shame

  7. If, as reported, BR met DD in London today then I think tomorrow we’ll get the announcement. Can’t see DD attending an interview or taking part in some elaborate recruitment game of hide and seek.

    Sacked on this day 1994.

For Macari, leaving Celtic was a wrench but in retrospect he made a mistake by signing for Man Utd rather then Liverpool (whom he turned down) and ended up in low and mid-table mediocrity when he could have won European Cup medals and the like. He actually drove to Liverpool to see their management and then to Man Utd the next day to seek out the best deal financially. He wouldn’t have been out of place at Liverpool but money dictated and he chose Man Utd. Liverpool manager Bill Shankly is reputed to have quipped on Macari’s decision to snub Liverpool for Man Utd:

“I only wanted him for the reserves anyway“.

  14. The one thing I remember about Rogers’ impact, was that he made most of our current players much better, and doing that with this current crop of players will be some upgrade.

Agreed James Forrest played his best football after the arrival of Rodgers.

  15. Melvin Udall on

I think James’ goals and impact during the Rodger’s years has been conveniently forgotten. He was outstanding under Rodger’s and scored some very crucial goals in massive games.

Shocking he doesn’t have his own song as well. Really grates on me that a new flashy player turns up and has a song within weeks, but the service James has provided to the club (his one and only club!) all these years is immense and still he doesn’t have a song.

Might take to writing him one myself. My last attempt at writing a song on Celticminded for Kayal ended up being sung at CP by the Green Brigade. 😃👍🇮🇪🍀

Not sure why folk are struggling with this. Paul is saying that if a decision has been made, it would be announced and they wouldn’t be ‘sitting’ on it.

    Non-Exec Chairman

A non-executive chairman of the board does not occupy a management position in the company. The chair operates independently from the company, receives plans and proposals from the CEO, through the corporate secretary, and presents these to the board for approval.

So, when our CEO wants the Board’s approval of the hiring of a specific Head Coach, he tells PL to get it to the Board pronto. (That’s in real life. Not sure how it works at Celtic, though)…..

  19. A few facts as I recall, may not be 100% but pretty close.

The amount of bitching about BR becoming the manager is primary school playground stuff, especially from supposed intelligent christian folks, whatever happened to turning the other cheek Eh.

Ok, I believe that BR left with the blessing of DD, £9m kinda confirms that, also the fact that he is keen for him to return, had he done the so called dirty not a hope in hell that he would even be entertained.

All the negative spin re BR came from PL and his spin journos in the media.

Lenny just happened to be without a job, didn’t get the sack, nor did he quit, just happened to be jobless ready to return to the fold when BR did his flit.

I do foresee some bad blood if he does come back but FFS, they are grown men and really need to get over it as do the ones still holding their grudge.

I didn’t think that leaving before the seasons end was great, but we have no insight as to why he did, must have been a serious falling out, but he would have done it with DD’s blessing.

There is no doubt that the way Brendan left Celtic upset a significant number of fans.

    No Doubt.

The manner you carry yourself with and how you leave any job follows you around.

How many jobs have you left where you said “I will never work with …………. again”?

    It happens.

    It’s real.

Does that mean you cannot go back?

    No.

    Should you though?

I will leave that one blowing in the wind.

    Brendan can manage.

Brendan knows how to win in Scotland.

Brendan has the other mob worried.

I don’t forgive the way things went but I know this is a business. We need experience and winners. No projects right now.

Take away their “trophy haul” and they have nothing. NOTHING.

Think about those things and move on.

  21. Maybe Paul was sharing his views and perspective on tge basis of his experience rather than someone else’s.

In my own experience when these kinds of things are happening in most walks of life those involved in the detail and those really in the know ‘go to ground’ and don’t share much that might get into the public domain.

The outcome certainly seems heading towards something very positive for the most part. That is great news. Likewise worth remembering PL is now chair and not an executive within the organisation. Kinda pretty different roles.

  22. I read a lot of blogs, I enjoy reading the comments, if Brendan does become the Celtic manager will the (entitled) supporters give up their season ticket or will they act out and show how disappointed they are that the management team at Celtic should listen to them before they even consider the club and the more (unentitaled) supporters because they are the real people. Bhoys/Ghirls Celtic are were they are bigger and better, we accepted Neil back when he left Celtic, time to learn again what Glasgow Celtic is for. Enjoyment is one of the principles. Rant over time to stop being the other mob always embrace and big J.C. said always forgive. HH
