Declare the 9

873

I remember 1997 when another nine-in-a-row was about to be won.  We knew it was coming, we knew it would be difficult and we needed to get through the period.  I avoided all news coverage and football chat for over 24 hours that May, only to find out later that Motherwell’s Owen Coyle upset plans and the title had yet to be won.  I just wanted it over with, the delay was not helpful.

We are in the same situation now, there is not the remotest doubt the Premiership will be called and Celtic will be declared champions.  No one’s interest is served by further postponing the inevitable; it would only leave the SPFL in the spotlight longer than necessary.

Only box ticking exercises remain and today’s meeting between Premiership clubs and the SPFL should be the last.  Scottish football has more important things to worry about, it is in significant peril and needs to move energies on immediately.  Declare the 9.

I hear what your saying but we did not play with wingers for 2 months prior to season ending.

In the middle of the pitch we have brown, mcgregor, bitton, rogic, ivorian bhoy and ntcham. That excludes the kids.

In ordinary times I would obviously prefer we went out and sold and spent as normal, but celtic will likely see a significant drop in income.

Some of that will be offset by a reduction in operational cost but I think celtic will likely need to trim many millions of the outgoings and the biggest outgoing are in the football department.

KT stepped up when we had no left back, mcgregor stepped up when he gor a chance, same applies to forrest etc. We may need to go a little more youthful for a year or two. It’s a gamble, but better than gambling with the clubs future.

Inevitably the league will be called soon with Celtic on 80 points and the nearest challenger on 67.

So who scored the goal which got us over 67 points?

That man was Olivier Ntcham against Hearts in a 5 0 win on 12th February.

Must admit once this league is called I’ll obviously enjoy it but what a laugh if we were allowed to play it out. Conservative guess, won by 20 points total humiliation for them and bye bye Stevie G😂😂

  12. We will have to wait a few more days for our rightful title, won on the park and on results. The huns might still have a renewd hope that it won’t happen. All the better to prolong their suffering.

  13. broonie is brilliant in that interview,

    mon see ma trophy

13 point clear, it could be 16, 19 at end of season

9 in a row is the best champoionship ever

neil lennon and john kennedy are great

also the laugh at “what if rangers were 13 points clear ?”

Great fotos from the past. Favourite was of the Celtic & Feyenoord fans together in the fountain in Milan for the European Cup final. Both getting on and enjoying the occasion. My dad, uncle and grandfather were at the game, all no longer with us but said they loved the day but not the result.

They will be laughing now at how the famous Glasgow Celtic have crushed the Huns !

Thanks for your continuing efforts. I think more people would play but the present site set-up can make it very difficult to do so. Despite being online last week I could not on the blog long enough to play the rounds. Be nice if Paul would give you and us a break of a Friday evening.
