If you are missing your competitive football fix you’ll have devoured the fixture list this morning but it’s still over seven weeks until the first league game of the season, when the league flag will fly before we face Ross County (we will have played a Champions League qualifier five weeks from today).
Thereafter, due to the postponement of a home game to allow for a financially lucrative friendly, Celtic are on the road six times in nine league fixtures, so if our away form is anything like it was for much of last season, it’s likely we will be in the mix, instead of clear leaders, come the end of October.
After an absence of some time, Celtic have a local derby to look forward to. They meet Partick Thistle at Firhill on 26th October with the return game at Celtic Park set for New Year’s Day. We are scheduled for two trips to the Capital within a month but don’t go booking your flights for the Hearts game in September, just in case…..
Curious news today that Celtic director and BT chief executive, Ian Livingston, will leave the telecoms company after five years at the top to become Minister for Trade and Investment in the coalition government. Livingston will serve from the House of Lords. How about boosting the ailing Scottish football industry by lobbying for a merger with a neighbouring league?
Have you bought a ticket for Firday night’s Lions Roar event? Join hundreds of Celtic fans and the Lisbon Lions to watch the Lisbon game and for a Q&A afterwards.

Also liked Whiteside, hope that hoops doesn’t party like him.
He had the potential to be a great player , not sure Hooper could be a great but certainly room for massive improvement if he wants it.
that link at the top of the page for The Hootsman article is quite interesting, about McGuiness and the youth set up.
Check out the comments underneath some very funny,

Liam O’Neill has insisted that GAA members
who may be concerned about the
Association’s new partnership with Celtic FC
have nothing to worry about.
Under GAA rules, soccer cannot be played at
grounds outside Croke Park, but the GAA
president moved to assure members when
saying at yesterday’s ‘The Let’s Go Lead
Through Sport’ project launch: “I would say to
them – ‘Please don’t worry’. We’re involved
with a charitable foundation here, the Celtic
FC Foundation.
“If we are going to move things on in this
island we have to continue to reach out and I
hope they would understand that this is being
done for the best motives possible.
“Sport is the hook here, only the hook to get
these young people in. It’s not about any
advantage for either Celtic FC or the GAA.
“In fact, in some of the cases, some of the
teenagers involved might never reach either
organisation. This is about stepping outside.
There’s a bit of social responsibility here and
we don’t mind doing it.
“We’d hope that people would understand, and
that includes people who would have a much
different history than I would have. Sometimes
they have to take a chance.”
Big Virgil and his agent havelanded and he is a very Bhoy. Only medical to get through as deal is done.
Welcome big man.

You are right not fair to compare our players with Henrik.
I was just trying to say that their ambitons can be reached by staying with us .
Both Vic and Hoops are younger than when Larsson came to us.
To be honest if players want to leave and we do well out the deal then i dont lose much sleep over it

Should have got Duff&Duffer in and everyone would have kept their job.
Redundancies will be made at crisis-hit
football club Heart of Midlothian, the
administrator has confirmed.
Bryan Jackson, whose accountancy firm BDO
took control of the Edinburgh club’s financial
affairs on Wednesday, is due to meet
employees on Thursday.
He said that “unfortunately” redundancies
would have to be made and that there was a
“possibility” Hearts may have to go into
liquidation.
BDO running the Hearts’ administration? They are getting to know Scottish football pretty well it seems.
And I see the league fixtures are out. A New Years’ Day Glasgow derby too! Nice one.

I think this is another horse from the book. Aim to Prosper a long in the tooth horse of 9 yrs.
It won the ceasarewich last year by 8 lengths carrying 9s10lb 66/1. I’m betting it.
Thanks for the winner yesterday.I only had £4 in my account so put it on,but collected on an O’Brian horse so put a bit more on. Built up my money for the rest of the week.

The continued ignoring of the sectarian and racist language used on FF and RM is an embarrassment to Police Scotland of course far too many officers of Police Scotland will be contributors
There is a link to a blog on FF which is a disgrace, i hope legal proceedings by many of those named in the blog via an article with the title “Beware geeks bearing gifts” it must break every rule in the OB section dealing with the internet, however Police Scotland will ignore as usual, the name of the blog taunts and ridicules the establisment
If we sign Virgil will we see the tears of things Sevconian?

Have you or anybody you know reported it to the police?
I have sent e mails to political MSP’S
I am 100% certain Police Scotland are aware of the issues i have referred to, the Focus unit monitor these sites every day! at 1.8 million pounds they can afford to, i have no trust whatsoever in the Police as far as the focus unit is concerned, furthermore in keeping with their previous conduct i do wish to be the subject of an investigation because i contacted them
It always baffles me when people on here want Celtic to offload our best players.
#ImeanWTF?
Good luck to the punters on here with their Ascot selections today.
A note of caution though. It looks like the well fancied Cape Peron won’t run unless there’s enough rain to ease the going, and conversely the American hotpot in the first may be seriously hampered by any significant rain.
” Any rain and I’m dead” according to trainer Wesley Ward.
Hope James Doyle does me another favour today with So Beloved, and c’mon Simenon in the Gold Cup!

I always hate to see anybody leave Celtic even the duffers.
I know – we’d end up with a squad of 897 but so what?

I want both Vic and Hoops to stay ,i think they can improve massively with us .
Sad news about James Gandolfini. My better half was very upset when she heard the news this morning.
Still love the line from big T when he first went to see the adorable Dr Melfi:
‘You got any idea what my life would be worth if certain people found out I checked into a laughing academy?’
Love the way they come onto the CQN Magazine Facebook page and say we are obsessed. Enjoyed pointing out to one of them that their Give Liquidation the Red Card event involved holding the cards up on the 18th and 72nd minutes – the year the CLUB started not the year the holding company started.
Hoping van Dijk signs and is in the mould of Vincent Kompany.
Where does that leave Efe? Could he move to midfield or will he be offloaded? I think the Bhoy has something to offer. I really think Lenny made a wee mistake playing him against Juventus at home. It’s a learning curve.
I like Efe’s goal celebration too. Keep the guy and coach him.
Getting excited about next season already. Hope we bring another forward player or attacking midfielder in.
LB
Steinsreignedsupreme,
I dont think anyone is wanting to offload our best players, but holding on to players who want to move, is surely the way to go to get some sort of return.

I especially recall a time that I was particularly – out of order with yer ghood self when I
let myself / Paul67 / and the CQN community down which is a disgrace as I should realize that I’m on here with some the VERY best fholks that I will probably EVER bump in to and, I will be the loser in the end.
I come on to this sacred place and yes – IT IS SACRED – and all I do is pour out my own misconceived misery all over the blog and then – I wonder why I have all this space around me ?
I’m sorry if ye think that was too far but, for me – that was just the tip of the ice-berg.
Again – I’m so sorry to yerself Geordie and all of CQN.

“I want both Vic and Hoops to stay ,i think they can improve massively with us.”
Totally agree. We have a young developing squad which is nowhere near realising its full potential.
And we have some folk wanting to sell our top goalscorer from the past two years before our biggest games of the season. That defies logic.

Some people on here have said they want Hooper punted.
There is nothing to suggest he is desperate to leave Celtic – and even if he does want to go we should not be rushing him out the door.
Celtic need to go into theses Champions League qualifiers with a settled squad. There is too much at stake.
