Double time for Celtic

780

It is nonsense to talk about Hampden Hoodoos, Celtic’s five defeats there since Neil Lennon became manager have been a result of poor performances, not superstition (fighting the urge to mention two last minute penalty decisions).  Celtic were unquestionably the stronger team on four of those five occasions, arguably all five, but they have been tactically out-thought at the national stadium time after time.

We are vastly stronger than Dundee United but once the whistle goes tomorrow, unless we can match them for hunger, arrest the defensive lapses which have blighted us all season, and find the key to breakdown what will be a tight defence, there is no reason to believe the outcome will be any different than when we faced a weaker St Mirren.

Shortly before that St Mirren defeat I said we were not playing consistently to win the treble we were short odds for.  Consistency hasn’t improved much since, which is why you are hearing talk coming out of Lennoxtown about this being the biggest game of the season.

It’s double time….

  1. Southside. Some great beers there sir. Treat with respect. Suggest also Eden Brewery from St Andrews ‘Golden Rum 7.9, or Bourbon 7.5, or Shipwreck IPA 6, if you can find them. QP Farmers Market or West End on a Saturday great for wee sampling session.

  2. RRC,

    Thanks amigo.

Amazing band. I’m lucky – I know every note inside out! Do I stick with the depressing, or move to Dave at Gdansk??

I am keeping good , thanks. HH

  4. RRC,

PF get a hard time, as they came from middle to upper class backgrounds. I hate that snobbery that dismisses them because of it, though can understand it.

But DG at Gdansk put it in the picture – it co-incided with the arrest and “internment” of his son at a demo in London.

And I’m glad you bring up Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music.

A master of covering songs, and making them better.

    I hear ye amigo.

This is a dying breed. Music is very controlled these days, despite the internet.

What today’s kids think are great rock bands….they aren’t. There are song-writing teams employed by the labels to write songs for bands that suit the style, time etc etc. It’s not about boy bands now. Every chart song, every “track” promoted by the BBC is the same as hunnery. All controlled. It’s ugly. And depressing.

But they underestimate the intelligence of the common man, and over-estimate their own cleverness and control. They’re on a hiding to nothing. It’s like Nixon thinking he can rule the world.

They were miles ahead of their time. But that’s an interesting one to pick out :))

    Stop progression, kill love..etc etc.

Could talk all night about this!

Written within 1 year of Thatcherism.

    They weren’t daft!

  7. Dundee United have taken a couple of hammerings from us in our last two meetings.

Those 4-0 and 6-2 wins will hopefully provide confidence and not complacency tomorrow, or today for most.

With conditions forecast to be wet and windy we will need to guard against individual errors through poor concentration.

United will be playing deep and hoping to catch is on the break, so we must be patient.

Kris Commons will play a pivotal role from both open play and set pieces. If Kris maintains his recent form then Celtic will tick along nicely and run out comfortable winners.

Although I can’t see us scoring 6 goals, I think 4 is readily attainable.

    Forecast score. 4-1 Celtic.

Scorers. Good guys in hoops. (So ditch the black strip tomorrow John)

  10. For we, and big, residents of the USA this is a bad week to bring up politics.

Today I had to settle a bill with the leeches at IRS to ensure wasteful spending continues and strutting, self important marionettes can pretend they somehow matter to local, national and international events.

We are watching an episode of Rebus on Netflix, savouring some wonderfully reminiscent shots of Edinburgh. So no music. Nor politics.

Followed by sleep, sleep perchance to dream of goals from guys in green.

  11. I’ve got one thing to say to yez.

We were singing about this stuff 20yrs later, as were Simple Minds, when they wrote this song.

And at least Jim Kerr put his arse on the line into hun fudwittery.

Cue a shower of fannies blaming Simple Minds for the fact we are STILL living in a hun dictatorship.

    HHHHmmmmmm.

At least 50% of the spending that emanate from DC is unnecessary pork solely meant to ensure the reelection of a local incumbent or provide favour to a large influential donor and is in no way targeted to improve the economy or to reduce unemployment outside the Beltway.

Many programs are duplicated and merely ensure the continued employment of time wasting bureaucrats in an area which has completely survived the ravages of the recent downturns unlike every other city in the country.

Maybe untimlike to admit this but I visited The Bigotdome four times. Only once did I leave feeling good…

Apols, some times I totally despair.

There are some feckin mentalists amongst us.

Supporting Celtic isn’t about protecting you and your family, it’s about you and your family doing everything they can to help those “less fortunate”.

    Ohhhh…..it’s a despair thing.

Why are some feckin people struggling with that idea, and more concerned about protecting the memory of thatcherism, the most evil thing to grace this planet’s recorded history. Since………..
