A Europa League tie against Rennes on Thursday would normally set midweek pulses racing but when Celtic have such a crucial game ahead in the fight for second place Neil Lennon has a major decision to make, does he rest players for the Motherwell game?
Sunday’s game at Fir Park is set to become one of the most important games of the season for Celtic and I’m sure Neil would prefer a clear midweek to prepare for it, but resting players, with the inherent increased chance of defeat, could further damage fragile morale.
Celtic need a confidence boosting win but they need heads focussed on beating Motherwell even more. The consequences of defeat on Thursday are unpleasant, but the consequences of defeat on Sunday are incalculable.

On the subject of Rennes on Thursday, I would give McCourt, Commons (if fit) and Sammy a run out. I would rest Ledley, Ki, and probably Hooper.
We simply aren’t good enogh for this competition at this moment in time and it was a bonus getting in there in the first place. Rest players for Sunday which is a far more crucial game.
The League has probably already gone but we need to fight like hell in every game from now on, and midweek games should not be a priority.

2010 Never Again
Apparently things have taken a twist at Murray Park.
It appears a memo has been circulated to the first team squad stating that it is the responsibility of the SFA to cover any player injured whilst actively involved in their official duties and NOT the club. There’s big trouble brewing I hear.
I still think we have the nucleus of a good squad. We have had some horrendous injuries, but the the constant chopping and changing and playing players out of position just isn’helping.
Lenny play players in their familiar positions as often as possible and if someone is injured or off form bring up one of the youngsters to deputise. At least everyone is playing in a recognised position and you get a gradual integration of youth and experience. You never know youth enthusiasm might even inspire the under acheivers. After sitting in abject misery on saturday im willing to try anything but moving players about is not working its only weakening the team more.
Oh on the naibalance issue he’s welcome to everything he gets. What goes around etc etc.

I’m glad Naismith is out for the season for 2 reasons- first I think that he is a very effective player, and if it wasnt for his odious personality I wouldnt have minded him in our team- his personality is the other reason I’m glad he’s out- you reap what you sow- and his injury came about as a result of him trying to injure an opponent. As for the text rumours maybe they are false, maybe they are true, but as they possibly concern our team then I think they at least merit a mention on here- dont censor discussion just because its negative about our team

Id hope there will be non stop fighting all week to be honest.
Id hope there are some within the dressing room who in all their entirety are desperate to win with Celtic. If there are – then there should be no more frustrated a men than them, at their team mates whom they know can do a helluva lot better if they had the same balls and will to win.
In that case – my own frustration would be found when I next went to tackle that team mate in training.
If Lennoxtown was a bed of roses full of mates having a laugh and joke amongst eachother, playing pranks and just being themselves this week – id want each and every one of them replaced in the 1st team.
