Extra week training in July has huge impact

2173

I was concerned about a trip to Estonia after hearing Hearts struggle in their home leg against Estonian opponents last week, so news that Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps beat Flora Tallinn was welcome, although the concern was tempered as news arrived that Hearts were three goals up in the away leg.

The lesson here is that in July, one more week’s training has a huge impact on performance.

Brendan Rodgers will be happy with how training has progressed thus far, but it’s only when players put multiple 90 minutes under their belts that they are ready for competitive action. There’s not necessarily a great deal of work to do to overcome Red Imps (no offence intended), but qualifiers come thick and fast thereafter. Despite beating Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday, I expect Celtic will be more motivated for Saturday’s game against Maribor.

It gets serious from now onwards.

    Thanks for the link mate.

Big Roddie with the first goal.

Never really rated Roddie as a young Bhoy but tell u what when I look at old footage he scored some number and real important goals.

I would have been 10 at that game and I guess it was the first time I saw those black numbers on the back of the hoops.

    Never liked that.

Gerry I share your disapointment about Davie in later life, but when I hear his name my mind rifts back to his performances in my youth.

I try not to let what he does now sully the memories.

His goal in the 85 cup Final might still be my favourite goal ever!

    HH and thanks Bhoys

  2. Well done Andy Murray, ruthlessly dealt with Ronic, who will go on to be a grand slam winner.

Also thought Kim Sears handed royal Kate her erse.

  3. SID,

Royal Kate is just an average looking woman of her age with money to dress well and have ‘beauticians’

If France score in the first 20-25 minutes it could be a decent game. If not it could be pretty dismal.

Not a big fan of the lump of wood, but this game might just suit him – Portugal will defend deep.

Not sure I’d have brought Pepe back in – always liable to do something stupid.

Great memories, Davie’s free kick nearly bettered by Frank rubberman McGarvey’s header…. Brilliant stuff

I’ve thought about this and reckon Andy Murray is by far the best Scottish Sportsperson I’ve seen in my lifetime (born in 61), can’t think of anyone better.

  8. The England team has just agreed to play a friendly against Iceland on Tuesday next to boost morale.

If that goes well they plan to play Tesco on Friday and Asda on Sunday…..

  9. Now I know that John James can make accusations for a bit of dramatic effect.

Having said that, I would like to know if Celtic have authorised the transfer of honours to Sevco, maybe Paul 67 can clear that up.

Now that UEFA have confirmed what we knew, I assume our club will take action to have the relevant records amended.

    They will right?

I`ve just had a look at great Scottish sportspeople. Andy wins for me.

In cycling, track is not up there with road so, for that reason, Chris Hoy loses out.

Think your bet is safe. As I said I have gone in again on Portrugal and Ronaldo to score at any time. Also same a wee France halftime, drawnfullmtime at 17, s with the bonus. So I splashed another quid/ euro on that.

Colin Jackson is my favourite ever bear. His goal in the 4-2 10 men won the league game swung it. Big Tel Butch and his og’s puts him in second place. Bobby Russell, who was a Celtic type player comes 3rd.
