Failure elsewhere cannot disguise abject Celtic challenge

1009

As the darkest clouds descend over Ibrox with news that medals in their trophy room have been poinded by sheriff officers, sentiment in our half of the city is no brighter.  Celtic’s best chance to win the league this season lies not in outpointing everyone else, or seeing their principle rivals lose 10 points, it is in the complete obliteration of Rangers, allowing us to take our chances with Motherwell, who can open up a six point gap between second and third against Celtic on Sunday.

Whatever the following weeks bring for Rangers, if Celtic winning the league is a consequence, we cannot allow the title to disguise the abject failure to be competitive so far this season.

It’s just you that gives me nightmares.

You see. I have this picture in my head of an x-cop rampaging through town in his black hack, paid for with some of my tax payers money, holding a semi(automatic) gun out the windy shooting Celtic employees he has been stalking while telling everyone he speaks for real Tims in real pubs the length and breadth of his small peanut sized mind.

The movie is called: Cop this Hacked Off Tim.

MWD I’m thinking the peanut sized brain may just be a tad on the large side though.

  2. Sorry, due to blantyretims rising age, his senility has increased tenfold in the space of 24hours. He’s currently trying to work out how to switch the computer on and tie his shoelaces. Normal service will be resumed when Mrs BT returns home, to help him out and up his dosage… :-)

  3. For the tough games ahead over the winter period we must look to dominate teams the way we used to under mon. My starting line up subject to injures would be,

    Forster

    Matthews K Wilson Mulgrew Izaguirre

    Brown Wanyama Kayal Ledley

    Stokes Hooper

This midfield, if played regularly, will allow us to impose our authority over the opposition and get a lead in games. This then gives us a platform to unleash the likes of forest, commons, mccourt and ki to unlock already tired defences and ultimately kill off games.

At the moment we are, and more importantly, are seen to be, a soft touch. For us to even begin to think about closing the gap on the fod then this must stop NOW.

Neil has to show authority but he also has to show trust. It’s time to pick a starting 11 and go with them. We know we have the better player it time to show the rest.

Btw as this is my first post then obviously i am a h** ;-)

  4. I do a lot of work for charity, obviously, but don’t like talking about it.

But, when it comes to indulging ole DBBIA in his homage to his musical hero Freddie Mercury I feel I may have to draw a line.

If you’d use a capital “I” when writing “i’m” the chances would decrease.

As the big news from Ibroke gets closer and closer, I was thinking about the really MAJOR headlines which Scottish football has created on UK news programmes throughout my time, early 60’s onwards.

But lets start with big stories which, although making National News throughout Britain, did not come into my major capacity.

Celtic win 9 in a row

    Rangers fans riot at Newcastle

    Rangers win ECWC

    Aberdeen win ECWC

    Celtic lose ECF to Feyenoord

Rangers fans in Villa park riots

Rangers equal 9 in a row

Fergus McCann takes over at Celtic

    Farrygate

    Dougiegate

    Dallasgate

    Cameron House Gate

    ……and a few others

However in my opinion the biggest headlines to come out of this country were-

Celtic become first British club to win the European Cup…1967

    The Ibrox Disaster…1971

    The Battle of Barcelona…1972

    The Willie Johnston drug scandal…1978

    The Battle of Hampden…..1980

Mo Johnston becomes Rangers first Catholic signing…1989

    The Manchester Riots…2008

    next……..’RANGERS FC IN ADMINISTRATION’..2011 ?

Thats how big a story the last one will be, make no mistake!

btw, notice the common denominator on every negative headline (apart from 71)?

I’ve probably missed some other majors so feel free to add.
