Gaol for the Rangers

343

I hear regular reports that Our Hero is fastidious, clever, experienced and has expert legal advice on company rescue matters.  But I read (on Random Thoughts’ blog) that he doesn’t always take great care when filling out forms or doing paperwork.

Now he has a formidable foe on his case.  Alastair Johnston, the non-exec who may have been asleep at the wheel when Rangers FC PLC (in administration) were industriously working on schemes to avoid taxation, has written to the Crown Office asking them to investigate the acquisition of Rangers by Craig Whyte.  No Surrender Johnston, as he is knows in some parts, a sleeping giant of the sports industry, is awake and he’s darn irritated!

I love good irony.  Can you believe, he wrote to the CROWN Office!  Forces of the Crown are all over this situation already.  You have to wonder how deeply Her Majesty’s officers will delve now they’re on the case.

As anyone who has followed recent perjury trials in Scotland will know, not all alleged crimes are investigated, on occasion, action needs to be in the public interest, but you have to think that if our hero has failed to cross a t or dot an i, No Surrender Johnston will pursue Our Hero like the well-pensioned accountant he is.  If his suspicions are correct, I’m sure he will not rest until it’s Gaol for the Rangers miscreants.

I did think the same, considering they said that their first priority was that the game went ahead this weekend, that is a strange thing to say imo.

Things must be desperate if making sure a game goes ahead.

    ————————————————————————————————————————

Despite what the police said about worries over cash I think they had bigger worries over security and the carnage that might ensue had the game been called off. The extra injection of cash (if there is one – merchandising, catering etc seem to be out of their hands, maybe ticket sales, programmes??) may give the administrators some working capital but I think mostly it has been about delaying the inevitable.

What I will say is, like you, I am no expert. Educated guessing at best. But I am fairly confident that on this occasion I am probably right. Maybe.

Looks like we are on the same wave lenght :>)

I still want the sfa to be targeted, they have facilitated all this, they have been complicite in bringing the game to it’s knees.

And at the moment they look like they are getting away with it, I know things will come out in the wash, but it may well be too late to get the right people responsible.

  6. This thing about Ticketus 24m

” They went through a parent company account so we haven’t got visibility on that.”

Do the administrators have no rights to see parent company accounts?

Can Ticketus/Octopus (if they still exist) make demands of parent company?

Surely taking a load to RFC then passing it to ‘parent’ group to avoid repayment is fraud?

I still fear they may get off. I want Whyte in jail but not to leave Rangers blameless.

could it be a cut in the booty that he has been promised

he could quite simply say that his job is very difficult at the moment and for the fans to stick by him(which he has)

no need for him to even mention marty feldman

  9. SWFC owner Milan Mandaric “shocked” by links to Rangers. Has “no intention” of buying the club.

Businessman Milan Mandaric has dismissed reports linking him with buying troubled Rangers.

Press reports on Friday claimed Mr Mandaric was interested in buying over the Ibrox club after it was plunged into administration this week.

The former Portsmouth owner, who was recently cleared of tax evasion during his time at the club, said he “no interest” of becoming involved in Rangers.

Mr Mandaric, who currently owns Sheffield Wednesday, released a statement on the reports on Friday.

He said: “I am aware and shocked at the media reports today linking my name to an inquiry over the potential purchase of Glasgow Rangers Football Club.

“First and foremost, I can categorically deny that there is any substance to these stories and I am disappointed that such articles are printed without any foundation whatsoever. I have never had any dialogue or contact to anyone relating to Glasgow Rangers.

“Glasgow Rangers is a huge football club with a great heritage and history, but I already have that that here at Sheffield Wednesday.

“For clarity, I have not instructed any of my associates to register an interest in the administration process at Glasgow Rangers and I have no interest, now or in the future, of becoming involved in the club.”

On Thursday, administrators Duff and Phelps said they had received “several expressions of interest” in Rangers from outside the club.

However, the only public expression of interest in taking over the club is from ex-Rangers director Paul Murray who has stated he is considering a fans consortium to take over the current SPL champions.

in which case I believe Octopus Investments (ie Ticketus) to be a professional & smart outfit. still possible they screwed up but likely they took the necessary steps to ensure they get it back or at least wouldn’t simply lose the lot by Whyte closing down the current version of Rangers.

Worst… Partisan Belgrade 5-4 match. 60,000 walking out of the stadium in total silence, one voice pipes up “why did we send 10 men up for the corner?”

Getting ahead of myself here, once the FTT is published and Dignity is liquidated the following day then the Tic board have some interesting decisions to make.

It is a no-brainer that we will vote for a no-show for NewDignity in the SPL , however we do have a number of other cards to play as well. Off the back of the FTT , there will be a number of fundamental football rules which Dignity have charged a coach and horses through for more than 10 years, as well as the blatant cowboy behaviour of whyte & rfc this year.

What should the CFC response be?

Obviously, we need to push hard for the strongest punishments possible, when your opponents are on its way down , you just have got to keep the pressure on.

There are 2 related areas, however where we can pressure the SFA. Firstly, the SFA need to be brought to task over their handling of the monitoring contracts and finances at Dignity, and secondly there is clear imperative to punish Dignity’s past deeds by striking from the records their trophies and league titles during this period. By striking out their record, they lose the titles but they are not transferred to ourselves.

By positioning these 2 bargaining chips very closely together, through careful negotiation , we will get the titles and trophies removed from Dignity, as long as we accept a ‘truth style’ investigation, cards on the table but no one gets fired.

That would be a good deal , as in unpteen years , folk will just know that whatever went on, it must have been really bad, as titles were struck off.

In a strange sort of way I don’t blame the hun, they have shafted the rest of the teams in scotland cos they could, their masters that run the game have permited it and indeed were complient.

Unless the sfa are dissolved and started again with honest men running it, it will all be for nothing.
