Things looked touch and go earlier today but Celtic pulled a late double swoop to sign John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City, and Stefan Scepovic on a four year deal from Sporting Gijon. Guidetti has been a Celtic transfer rumour since his 20 goals in 23 games stint at Feyenoord as a teenager in 2011-12. Now he’s on board, I’m holding out for news of Georgi Kinkladze.
Stefan Scepovic could have played his hand better over the last 24 hours; footballers are seldom accused of over-intellectualising their plans. Late interest from La Liga looked to have dealt Celtic a body-blow, but he’s ours now, and I’m pleased we got someone who was wanted by Spanish scouts.
That’s us finished for the summer window. Welcome to Celtic, John, Stefan.

Then surely at this time the flying of the saltire at any ground during a uefa game could be construed as political? beggars belief! por cierto
Transfer window closed – got me thinking about wages before I head for bed.
Falcao on approx £1K per day…………………
Lisbon Lions got £1K bonus (before tax) for winning the EC.
Financial madness!
Night all & H!H!
Oops. Sorry for offending grammar hounds with that ‘now’.
Oops. Actually no offence could be taken.

“Celtic’s hopes of signing John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City look to have been scuppered. They had hoped to add the Swede as well as Stefan Scepovic but the final details could not be processed before the Scottish FA’s midnight deadline.
“Although there is a possibility the SFA can appeal to Fifa over the circumstances, for the moment it looks like the Serbian Scepovic will prove to be Celtic’s only deadline day acquisition.”
Ooops!
Falcao should read £1K per HOUR (after tax)…………….
:-(
I demand to know the names of the UEFA observers who think the flying of a flag ( which is flown at UNESCO) is offensive.
I would like the club to ask UEFA to spell out on what grounds they consider that the flag is inappropriate
I suppose we will just pay the fine.

SSN just reported the same. Should’ve gone to bed when I was feeling good. First it was Cadette now it is Guidetti.
Goodnight this OAP needs his bed. As far as the the referendum is concerned (I do not usually discuss things like this on my football team’s site) I never thought I would have the opportunity in my lifetime to vote for Independence. I will of course be voting Yes, what true Scotsman would not. Goodnight
Re Guidetti
Given it’s a season long loan, and he is out of contract at the end of the season, would it not make sense for citeh to mutally consent him, and he can then join as a free agent?
Don`t know the reasons why the SFA couldn`t process the transfer before the midnight deadline.
I seem to recall in 2007 or 2008 Rangers signed Naismith on summer transfer deadline day, the deal was announced as having gone through after midnight with the SFA`s agreement as the delay had been caused due to their computers not working or some such likely excuse.
Guidetti not completed?…ffs Celtic!!
Would be interesting to contrast how the SFA handle the Guidietti transfer with how the English FA will deal with the Falcao transfer.
We would need to sign him then would we not, rather than borrow him?
….meanwhile live on SKY we see Ben Arfa become a Hull player as he signs his contract 00:45:player seen through the window ( appropriately after the window closes)
…..but back in Scotland the SFA have all gone to bed !
The Onlooker
Fkn shoite, wish I’d gone to bed when I was feeling better about things.
Maybe he could play as a trialist?
itsabouttim 0048:-
Yes, but we could sign him on a one-year deal and then neither he nor Celtic are in a worse position than they were before.
Only 2 things that I could see that would stop that happening:-
1. Whether man City were paying him any of his wages under the terms of the loan deal;
2. Whether there are any rules to prevent someone getting a free just after the deadline and then signing straight for a club who had previously lodged paperwork to sign him before the deadline.
Looks like I was right and the SFA goons did get Farry through the ouija board.
the glorious balance sheet.
Don’t think that would work
can only sign a player outside the window if player is a free agent … before the window is closed.
The Onlooker
I’m sure the good ol’ SFA will find a rule.
Good suggestion though.
As I said I was going to my bed then crash bang wollop the SFA balls it up for Celtic again. I fecking give up. Goodnight
I just want to see Parkhead rocking again

Why we should have attacked the bassas …all of them…everytime ….
Falcao still hasn’t signed!!! Why should be prevented because of a delay in getting the paperwork accepted?

Will be interesting to see if the SFA appeal to FIFA on our behalf on this.
A shame for the player who has had the chance to play first team football ripped away from him.
Maybe the BBC could campaign on our behalf for Guidetti`s transfer to go through. After all their sympathetic coverage of Legia Warsaw showed they have no time for football clubs being punished for red tape violations……aye right!

That’s not quite the story though is it. NL had applied for a job (can’t recall which one), DD found out and asked if, as a courtesy, NL could keep him/the board of any other jobs he went for. NL didn’t.
Now he didn’t have to, but given the huge risk that was taken to give him the managerial platform to break into the EPL, you think he might have.
Oh and when did he go from leaving due to budget constraints to being sacked?
Wait a minute, the Guidetti signing was being talked about on here hours before the deadline, so what happened with the SFA?
Ernie
I doubt it
Btw ..any tosser that disses Lenny is a no mark fandan …listening
The Onlooker 0056:-
Cheers for that, I thought there might have been something that stopped us from doing that to get around the rules.
The transfer window is an absurd system, there`s an 11pm deadline that’s not really an absolute deadline and it seems that individual FAs work to different times, some confirming transfers after other FAs shut up shop, no consistency at all.
Weeminger
No mind the agitator…look what we’ve ended with
If Arsenal can get 2 hr extension to sign Danny Welbeck the SFA will look ridiculous if their own rules prevent Guidetti coming north.
The Onlooker
EPL allow an extension of One hour.
Clubs must submit an outline deal and ask for extension.
EPL give permission or not.
I think it is called a deal sheet containing the elements of the deal and the details to be ironed out.
Good idea or not, it is available to all.
Up here, if you cast your mind back, an extension is what a certain team does not ask for but gets and then complains if it does not get another.
