Job done by those who wanted illicit chanting confrontation

1049

Make what you wish of Strathclyde Police reporting Celtic fans for “illicit chanting” to a Uefa match observer in October, the bottom line is that Uefa have fined Celtic €15,000 (around £12,700), established a benchmark for future action and more importantly sullied the club’s reputation.

Job done by those who wanted this confrontation to happen.

Sorry to talk about the huns again for a second

If, as some folks suspect, The Scottish gazillionaire Craig Whyte is actual a pre pack admin asset stripper and is just waiting until it suits him to call in the administrators on RFC I have some questions:

Craig Whyte, Gazillionaire extrordinaire, is allegedly currently not paying creditors and or staff NI and tax contributions, is this because if he plans to go into admin he might as well “get hung for a sheep as a lamb” and doesn’t care if the debt is 45 million or 55 million, cos he is not paying it anyway.

Regarding the on/off Jelavic january transfer, why would rangers want an alleged £10 million to arrive in the clubs coffers if they didn’t plan to pay any bills before the taxman cometh

Is this to fund the players wages etc until the taxman arrives?

    And Finally,

I’ve given up on waiting for our old dying, so called Scottish sports journalists commenting on the real issue. So, since he obviously feels he has a moral duty to get involved I wonder what Eddie Smith has to say about the general topic of financial sporting theft or even tax evasion.

    Glasgow’s wild and wet.

Still stunned and sickened, that Celtic have been stitched up in this matter, and I’m intrigued by what line, the club will take today.

I’d imagine Celtic’s legal advisors will be very busy over the next few days, and I don’t expect a response, that thousands of supporters

    eagerly await.

If we accept that Celtic weren’t aware of the details of the specific charge let alone a surprising the guilty verdict, then the matter has some way to run

    before it can be concluded.

In the meantime the football club is also preparing for a trip abroad, on that basis I’m not expecting communication.

Just read your post from last night, excellent.

    A thought

Not that I’m advocating singing about the IRA,although I do believe its a fundamental human right to be able to air your beliefs in public in such a way that doesn’t explicitly express violence but what gets me about this new legislation which is obviously aimed at such singing is it is being brought in by a nationalist government who have time and again played upon anti English feeling, with the nationalist cause in Ireland in mind and knowing that Scottish soldiers have fought against it as part of the British army, you would think somebody like Salmond, who is feverishly anti English, would tale into account how many bombs and ‘terror plots’ the IRA inflicted on Scotland, especially given the content of the very few songs relating to the organisation or should I say defunct organisation that get sung.

It’s with this in mind, these wee, simple ironies regarding the snp that I can really see that’s its more of an attack on Celtic and its wider culture.

  7. Has anyone actually had the courtesy to clarify what it is weve been found guilty and fined for?

Without going into the rights and wrongs of the political songs chants or add ons, what is it that UEFA and eddie Smith are so up in arms about?

    Come in eddie tell us

  8. Fortune Favours

You really are a stupid man, sorry immature child.

I take it you feel that anyone who doesn’t sing rebel songs (or is not happy to hear others sing them) at Celtic games is a really a hun and not a true Celtic supporter!

  9. Just read the Herald headline “Why selling Nikica Jelavic might actually revive Rangers”

    It’s so transparent it’s untrue.

  10. Been away skiing for the weekend – metre and a half of snow dumped on Val d’Iseres 3 days before we got there but beautiful weather for Saturday and Sunday. Snowed again yesterday so if anyone is out there you’ll have a blast.

Canamalar – not sure I can make the Marquis on Thursday, free booze and a free crack at some hotties at work at the Christmas Party [only kidding dear if you’re reading this site ;o) ], which I forgot about – awaits. That said, it’s a cab away from Cambridge Circus so if you’ll be there anyway, I will try to pop in for a scoop…

I’m not going to get into the songs debate again – I do hope the club appeals the verdict, asking exactly what it is we have been found guilty of, asking why the police “match commander” took no action at that match if these songs were against any existing legislation, pointing out that the SPL took no action against us and asking who exactly we might be offending. It’s not like the French have ever had disagreements with the British military and monarchy!

Have those who are recommending that we refrain from any IRA mentions been to the last few Home Games? The GB HAVE stopped the RA chant. Furthermore, I was at the Rennes game and, like others on here, heard no such chanting. Stop swallowing the media line. OUR FANS HAVE POLICED THEMSELVES AND NO LONGER CHANT THE PROBLEM CHANT.For those of you who say we shouldn`t give the Media a stick. Well, we have removed that stick. Has that stopped the media?

The establishment know full well that, we are sitting-ducks as, our bored are already in bed with the establishment!

The people we pay to run ‘our’ club have turned their backs on us and, that is a disgrace.

  20. Interesting press release from UEFA

FC Zenit St Petersburg have been fined a total of €50,000 for crowd incidents at two UEFA Champions League group stage matches.

The Russian club were fined for the setting off of fireworks, illicit banners, insufficient organisation and a pitch invasion. The punishments relate to Zenit’s Group G home games against FC Shakhtar Donetsk on 1 November and against APOEL FC on 23 November.

In another case, Scottish club Celtic FC have been handed a €15,000 fine for illicit chanting at their UEFA Europa League Group I match against Stade Rennais FC in Glasgow on 3 November.

Article 11 (2e) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations states that disciplinary measures may be taken for the use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit any message that is not fit for a sports event, in particular if it is of a political, offensive or provocative nature.

Appeals may be lodged against the verdicts of the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body within three days of the dispatch of the reasoned decisions.

Article 11 (2e) Sounds like a broad catch all

Are you honestly trying to tell everyone here, that there is an all-seated Stadium at Celtic Park? Does that includes seats for those dishing out half-cooked chicken burgers? Does that include seats for those bouncers given legal status by the polis who are instrumental in crushing our stupid, outspoken (and lets’ face it, far too vocal!) supporters? Does that include seats for horses that have walked the length of Glasgow Cross and London Road?

    I think not,

    Celtic Park should be closed.
