Job done by those who wanted illicit chanting confrontation

1049

Make what you wish of Strathclyde Police reporting Celtic fans for “illicit chanting” to a Uefa match observer in October, the bottom line is that Uefa have fined Celtic €15,000 (around £12,700), established a benchmark for future action and more importantly sullied the club’s reputation.

Job done by those who wanted this confrontation to happen.

I know Estadio well. The medal you refer to was not awarded for those who took part in the Easter Rising. There were medals awarded for participation in The Rising on the 25th and 50th anniversaries but it was different to the one you linked.

  2. Why all the secrecy? Several games have come and gone since the Rennes incident and Celtic have now been found guilty and fined. For what? Why haven’t we been told what the transgression was? Surely it makes sense to let us know in order that it doesn’t happen again. Was it the Ooh ah?, the Fields? the Soldier’s Song?

My feeling is that we will never see the club or the authorities issue a list of banned songs because it would open up a pandora’s box of political and legal argument which would rumble on and on. An argument that they could probably never win.

I believe that they just dont want to hear ‘IRA’ mentioned and therefore just about anything else is ok, even if it is the most rebellious song in the book, which is a nonsense.

Ohhh….ok. But why did he suddenly appear along with 2 muppet huns this morning?

    BMCUW,

Greenjedi is a middleclass boorish bigot, he has no inclination to listen or debate the underlying issues, his only argumnt is appeasement. His motive for the condemnation of Celtic supporters for singing songs, is it may ingratiate us with the scottish establishment its his only goal, like that of the board, as far as I’m concerned heand his ilk are a waste of breath, possibly meeja.

So……the cheery, cheeky, chubby chappy wants his team to be treated fairly. You mean like all the other SPL teams Sally?

Nae mair dodgy penalties? Getting red and yellow cards where they’re merited? Being punished for manhandling referees, etc. etc. etc?

Be careful what you wish for O dignified one!

Honestly, if they want to run a sanitised club, why dont they find a rugby club, leave the heart and soul of the Celtic football club alone.

  16. Are people so short sighted and caught up in their usual behavioural cycle that they cannot see this is not a songs debate.

This is a freedom of speech debate.

This “fine” was triggered due to the politicising of the Police force. They are being politicised to bring equivalence. Equivalence to a situation where a minority is being targeted due to their religion and / or heritage. In a western society. In 2011.

The equivalence is coming about as they are trying to hide their dirty wee secrets so they don’t have to deal with the truth. So Salmond can try and creep into the EU with a mask of respectability over the true face of this greatest wee nation in the world.

This isn’t about ooh aah up the Ra, take your heads out of the sand.

  17. UEFA, what we’re up against.

I particularly like para (f). Not even Salmond would go that far. It’s like something from North Korea.

  19. I am an insomniac.

I have 2 sleeps until Christmas.

And I have just had a massive bank loan approved.

(Thak you you dirty Bankers – you feckers have no idea what me and Gabriel just went through).

    Greenjedi,

Consider that generous bank loan spent on you and the introduction of you to the Tim way of live.

Gabriel made a big deal about this being the right thing to do….

How do you like them bag of chips?

  20. UEFA also fined Legia Warsaw for displaying an illicit banner. The banner said “Jihad Legia”. They were fined €10,000 a couple of weeks ago.

So singing is officially 50% worse than a banner.

  21. RogueLeader:

I honestly believe it is no more than a consequence of a crude strategy of deflection. The huns are a farce, base and bitter, and to all intents and purposes, as things stand today, they are going down. They cannot accept personal responsibility for all their failings and in evils name, some from among them are doing their utmost to smear us too before they are flushed away.

  22. So to put this into context.

Celtic fined €15,000 for political chants (one assumes based on UEFA’s catch-all regulations).

Zenit fined €50,000 for displaying illicit banners, setting off smoke flares and having games stopped. In their game against Apoel, the match was held up for 3 mins in the first half while smoke cleared and in the second half, the referee had to take the players off the pitch for 7 minutes while fans invaded the pitch.

Where does all that aggression come from?

Why would you turn on yer fellow Celtic Supporters over a can of feckin coke??????

People like should be BANNED from the stadium. No arguments. Just be rid of that agression.

You single-handedly ruin the reputation of our club all because you’re feart of a wee feckin can of coke.
