Keane asks not to be considered

1184

Reports out of Ireland that Roy Keane is no longer in the running for the Celtic job are correct.  The former Sunderland and Ipswich boss asked not to be considered as Celtic have tightened their shortlist over the past few days.

The overwhelming majority of opinion on the blog and elsewhere is that Celtic would be taking an enormous risk with Roy Keane, feedback which I know has reached the club.  These decision are all risky, and there are no guarantees we will be able to do better than Roy, but I’d be prepared to take that risk.

Let me know if you would like to attend the CQN Question and Answer evening at the Manor Club, Wimbledon, on 21 June, with a confirmed line-up of Lisbon Lion, John Hughes, and our own Brogan Rogan and Auldheid, celticquicknews@gmail.com

Visit the CQN Bookstore to get Tommy Gemmell to sign your personal copy of his tome, All the Best.

Celtic are re-focussing their search for a new manager since RK says no???

So he was their prime target?

    Seriously?

    Jeez.

Just watched the documentary, found it sad rather than an inspiring prelude to the games.

Wonder how it turned out? I felt for the Jaconelli’s.

    Episode 2?

RK states that he has turned down Celtic in order to continue his excellent work with MON for Ireland unless of course Aston Villa want him.

Maybe, just maybe, Roy Keane thought the job would be too big and demanding for him. Maybe!

It looks like history that wasn’t meant to be. What it does for me though is float a darker cloud over the reasons for Neil Lennon’s departure and the strategy applied by the club to replace him; especially so if he gave due notice.

    Good Morning Timland.

Lot’s of conjecture about why RK knocked us

back, and in my opinion he did, time to look at

the candidates who have show interest in the

job, please, please, don’t allow this to become

    a farce.

If we don’t have someone in place for the end

of the week then PL should come in for criticism,

just get it done……have a great day cqn.

  16. Just watched Commonwealth City Ep 2&3. Very interesting documentary. Sad and uplifting at the same time. Amazing that the BBC avoided mentioning Celtic Park for all 3 episodes despite it being located a stones throw from the new Velodrome.

  17. Good morning CQners,

Amongst all the hype there is one thing that really doesn’t sit well – why did Martin O’Neil blab about Keane being approached by Celtic at the press conference. He, more than anyone would know that Celtic like to be discreet in these matters. With Dermot Desmond’s closeness to the Irish international scene it does look like he was prompted, if he wasn’t his role as Irish manager may be short.

Well done to the under 10’s – P14 D2 L1 – Now there’s a Celtic record to be proud of.

  18. Taurangabhoy on

I have kept my powder dry in the game of thrones drama. Here’s my take for all you betting people out there an outside piece of information not yet verified by J Titter.

The real reason that RK stepped out of the race was a request from ober furher Di Canio after Kojo’s threat to leave this sainted place.

Now if you look at other recent evidence it is clear that PL has been using RK as a smoke screen to get the real deal in the Country.

First of all it has not gone unnoticed that GCT is returning to Glasgow under the cover of retirement and has already purchased the said Edinburgy flat mention in the RK story.

001Bhoy has gone undercover and has been spotted at bounce games throughout Greece and the Adriatic.

Add this fact to SydneyTims recent spate of positive comments on Celtic stories and his softening on the WGS era it it clear that when the white smoke comes up we will have …………………………………………

SydneyTim’s wife as head coach with GCT number two and 001 bhoy scouting our next generation of Hoops.

Take it to the bank bhoys and ghirls. Moonhowlers are taking over.

I will be supporting whoever is priveledged to lead Celtic to hoopy days. Hail Hail.
