Ladbrokes SPFL-PR warning media to stop title stripping talk

1623

I’m told by a broadcast journalist friend that Jim Traynor, of PR company Level5, started Newco Rangers broadcast media conference yesterday with a warning to journalists that discussion about title stripping was off limits.

The law was that if manager Mark Warburton was asked about the proposed sanction for Oldco Rangers financial doping the conference would be stopped.

Say what you like about journalists, but they regard being told what to ask, or not to ask, as a line in the sand issue. Traynor, a journalist for decades, should have known better than to make such a rookie mistake.

He was told that attempts to subvert discussion about Oldco being stripped of titles is not something that would be accommodated. By the broadcast media, anyway.

Warburton was subsequently asked about title stripping and although he was happy to answer, I’m told, this angered the would-be news-denier, whereupon he “lost his temper”.

Post-conference there was a bit of chat about how they would be able to appropriately report on less-partisan issues, like the Level5 PR-controlled Ladbrokes SPFL, although there was a consensus that “He’ll fall out with everyone soon enough. He always does”.

I haven’t heard other midfielders and strikers shouting instructions to their defence, that’s the difference for me.

Yep, a difficult away day, fingers crossed.

Billy isn’t well, just leave it mate.

Celtic and all the other spfl clubs are the ones who should take this forward.

For Marcus sake, I hope he scores a screamer to win a 7 goal thriller. For Celtic’s sake I hope we win by the odd goal, with quality performances by Every player, both sides.

“Bringing in a coach who had no experience in Europe”

Ronnie took Stromgodset into Europe- two narrow defeats to Atletico Madrid in 2011/12 and in 2013/14 they had a 5:2 agg. win against Debrecen before losing both games to Jablonec. I make that 6 ties in Europe- which of our previous managers had more European experience as a manager?

Marcus and Chris love Mr McIntyre from the Rock. He loves his Glasgow Tims in his team.

  6. Sftb. Ronny never had an international cap

Ronny never played in many European games

Stromsgodset lost 2 0 at home to athletico and lost 2 1 away. His other games were against 6th rate teams

Once again. Our biggest income stream is Europe He has no record or experience in Europe. Pushing full backs forward and supporting the wide players in Europe is called suicide 2nd or 3rd rate teams easily exploit this

    Can’t afford this

“Sftb. Ronny never had an international cap

Ronny never played in many European games”

Ah! but that was not the accusation was it? WHat is the association between playing ability and managerial competence? How many caps did Jock win? How many European games did he play?

“Stromsgodset lost 2 0 at home to athletico and lost 2 1 away. His other games were against 6th rate teams”

As I said, a narrow loss against a top team with a Norwegian “also-ran” team. That 6th rate team Debrecen have 7 seasons in CL qualifying this century. They lost to Man U in 3rd round qualifying in 2006, made CL group stages in 2009/10 losing narrowly to Liverpool twice and had a 3:4 result with Fiorentina- only Lyon gubbed them. Jablonec have played regularly in Europe since 97 and, though they usually get knocked out of qualifiers, they beat Copenhagen this year (a team that beat us) and lost 1:0 on agg. to Ajax. If that is 6th rate, you are using a very fine grading system.

“Once again. Our biggest income stream is Europe He has no record or experience in Europe. Pushing full backs forward and supporting the wide players in Europe is called suicide 2nd or 3rd rate teams easily exploit this”

Despite the evidence contradicting, you repeat the false accusation of “no experience in Europe”- sometimes you have to accept you said something wrong. Now, how about answering the question- which of our previous managers had more European experience as a manager?

Your comments about our playing style are legitimate observations but irrelevant to the point of your attack. Experienced coaches like Van Gaal piss of supporters of the clubs they manage too.

Beautiful analytically argued case for the defence.

No arguments exist for subjective perceptions.

You see the world as round or as a dish where you can fall off the edge. Until we learned to sail and return to our starting point, both viewpoints were valid.

There is a rhetorical argument for him not being a diddy though.

    1) He won a league title in Norway with an unfancied team- how many diddies do that?

    2) He landed a job with our club Celtic- how many diddies do that?

    3) He came close to a treble with us- how many diddies do that?

    4) There are many people on here calling him a diddy who have never achieved even a fraction of what RD has- how likely is it that they are the diddies?

Aff to ma kip- I have a plumber coming in the morning to fix a leaking shower- something wrang with the Boyata-Blackett valve, I think.

  14. Sftb. Neil Lennon played at a high level in Europe , understood Europe Still not a massive success. But our club have gone for someone who hardy played in Europe

Attack great at home against spfl teams who are playing 5 at back at 4 in front of back 5

In Europe teams are looking to counter attack

    3. You are serious here. The treble is one horse race for the last two years. And we lost

    4. Nice if you can get it. But he won’t be in Bussines for long

  15. Macjay. there was a poster on here about three year ago who predicted how the Thems would die. He seemed to have inside info. Anyroads. he nailed Sir Minty and kept saying “follow the money”. Hence my initial question. how right was he? The guy was spot on.

Why haven`t we moved on ?

Ronny hasn`t got it.He`s proved that.

    Over and over again.

We MUST accept that with regret , and move on.

That, I am sure, will happen and we will think :

“Why did we not do take this action earlier.”

Cut our losses ( 25 mill. squid approx ) and move on.

Ah mean, a bunch of well-heeled-Tories who take all your money off you….with ease…will fight to right the cheating corruption that, 53,000 Celtic supporters payed £100’s of millions into the game to watch a game that was rigged….and, worst of all….the Celtic Tory board new all along that, the game was rigged.

When oh when – Oh when will Celtic supporters realize that, to achieve ‘any’ sort of justice in Scottish football, especially for a team who play in green n white hoops….you ‘cant’ achieve this by, depending on a kowtowing-colluding Celtic board of Tory directors, fighting for justice for a rebellious support who wear green n white scarves….it cant / wont be done!

Celtic PLC are in bed with the scumbags who cheated you….what part of that, dont you understand?….ffs.

Hope you are well, got a decent wee lift during the week, had £2 lucky 15 on correct scores Portland 0-0 beat but Seattle won 2-1, Montreal won 2-1 so on Tuesday was waiting on Benfica 2-1 for a decent 3 out of 4, at 9.05pm when Benfica went 2-1 up I was offered half my (un)expected winnings as a cash out, thankfully I bottled the cash offer turned the iPad off, phone off as all my mates knew I was waiting on them, BT sports off and watched “Law & Order USA” or something, checked the account balance at 10pm and the cash was in, Mrs GFTB was pretty delighted and young Miss GFTB is off to the “Build a Bear” shop after mass today, the prices were 8/1, 15/2 and 7/1, as any other gambler if Portland had won 2-1 it could have got messy as I had a wee fiver on the accumulator
