Let’s have a change

375

Since Martin O’Neill arrived 15 years ago, the number of games Celtic have played with truly no pressure on is less than 30 (or about the same number we played the season before he arrived).  There’s almost always an angle when Celtic take the field, even after the league is won, whether there’s a cup final to prepare for, or a close rival to take on (as last week), or a trophy to collect (as next week).

But not tonight.  Tonight Celtic can take the field with a broader agenda than simply winning the game, we can experiment.  Hopefully we’ll not see players the manager doesn’t want, and there’s little point filling the team full of mainstays of the side.  Tonight is a chance of Darnell to continue his rehab, for Lukasz to give Gordon the night off, for (deep breath) Stefan Scepovic to lead the line!

Big Jason has had a fantastic season, but unless there’s enormous changes in Manchester, he’ll wave goodbye next week, so give Eoghan O’Connell a start.  It’s also an occasion when Ronny might want a look at Tom Rogic.  In fact, I want a look at Tom Rogic.

A change at goalkeeper, right back, central defence, centre mid and striker would give all areas of the team a fresh feel.  Let’s have it.

I’m with P67 on this one and hoping that the team is freshened up a wee bit. Ideally seeing 14 players that will still be with us next season.

    I’m on the fence :)

But if I had to chose I’d like to see a freshened up line up.

Waiting on team line up to see who my value goalscorer anytime in 90 mins will be tonight,

If playing going to take a chance on Darnell Fisher scoring his 1st goal for us, he got himself into a great position on Sunday then his composure went :))).

so he will be just that wee bit calmer tonight if the chance arises(pretty please):)))))

I think that your observation about Tom Rogic or Tam the Corgi as he is affectionately known is perhaps right on the nose…

You think he is a good five-side-player, but when you watch Ronny’s team pass and move in small areas of the pitch – very five-a-sideish always springs to mind – my mind anyway :o)

  10. BBC Scotland defends itself by saying it acts according to market conditions rather than population. Surely, the licence fee isn’t meant to be used for such purposes. Why then do they spend a fortune on the Boat Race?

I wonder if they could be taken to court for abuse of public funds.

    Interesting…w&*£ers.

  13. Glad we are trying someone else at left back, as we do need cover there. I think AM needs games. Would have liked to see Efe n charlie together, but perhaps its better to pair Efe with Denayer, to keep confidence higher, esp with the keeper change. Would have prefered a change upfront, midfield is fine, but hope TR gets a decent amount of time in the 2nd half.

Strictly speaking are they public funds?

  16. parkheadcumsalford @18:53,

I concur totally – haven’t read the statement yet, but if it’s saying that then we have to take the BBC to book.

HOW do they come close to justifying £200M + on English Football – the huge majority of peak highlights. Which they inflict all over the UK.

    Jobs for the boys/girls –

Scots are over one tenth of the population, and I’ll bet pay more than 10% of the domestic licence fee income.

    A Disgrace.

    quonno,

Was only in the old stand once or twice.Never knew they passed around SVdP boxes, even when we were being treated to the wee team playing the big team.

A bit late getting back on this one.

If I recall correctly, charity boxes SV de P amongst them were passed round main stand on a regular basis.

At an agm about ten years ago, matter of reconstituting some form of SV de P collection at CP was raised. I have a feeling that like Res 12 iit may have been kicked into long grass.

Maybe some SV de P poster knows a bit more about this.

On the subject of league reconstruction … from yesterday …

Doncaster, though, denied that a new 16 team top flight could be rushed through in time for next season as a safety net should Rangers fail to win promotion to the Premiership through the play-offs.

He said: “You would need unanimity from all 42 clubs if you were looking for change in time for next season. Realistically I don’t see that unanimity happening in time for next season. After next season we go back to the old voting rules and you might see more of a debate and more meaningful change.”
