McCoist quite right to hold firm line

980

In terms of pure logic, Ally McCoist was quite right to insist, “I can also assure every Rangers fan I will not be accepting any talk of stripping the club of titles. That is something we will never accept and everyone at the club shares this view.”

It is outrageous to put Sevco in the position of accepting Rangers are stripped of previous league titles while due process has not been carried out.  The very fact that the SFA and SPL are negotiating with Sevco over this matter is reason enough for McCoist to issue a firm rebuttal.  Quite simply, if the authorities are prepared to negotiate, their offer should be rejected until the last moment possible, at which point they will be meekly accepted.

The SFA and SPL must allow due process to take place and remove any need for Sevco to rubber-stamp a judgement on Rangers.  It is wholly inappropriate to discuss or agree the consequences of a guilty verdict, or subsequent punishments (losing titles won illegally is not a punishment), until a verdict is recorded.

Due process, please, nothing more and nothing less.  If Rangers didn’t illegally register players for over a decade neither they nor Sevco have anything to worry about.

Hard to say bout Juarez as he didn’t seem to get a fair crack at it.

Guys like Cha would play constantly poor and be in before him.

An odd one. I think there was more to it than we know behind the scenes, or it could be he was just up against the Derry pele In Training every day and was made to look like a diddy!

On holiday so I have more spare time.

Annoyed that the now traditional Euro qualifier debacle is nearly upon us again as is the annual disappointment regarding buying a CB.

I am happy with the level of talent and the attempts to build an exciting young team, however the inability of PL to properly grow a squad and a business has me scunnered.

Two things are always true about the club – we have a history of making things difficult for ourselves and PL’s bonus keeps getting paid no matter the results on the park.

    Braga / Utrecht / Sion – I fear a pattern is developing.

It does and I agree that you’re extremely brave voicing that opinion.

Like you I’m a Catholic and my personal faith means a great deal to me. At the time of Franco’s rule much of Europe was in the grip of a Communism v Fascism fight, this continued until the 1960’s.

The Catholic Church had a greater fear of Communism, as did much of Europe. The hierarchy of the church got it wrong in my opinion, they bowed to Franco’s will for fear of persecution and concern at what would happen if he defeated the Socialists.

It’s difficult for many of us to comprehend the concerns of the time because we didn’t live then.

Fascists, stalinists, scientologists… All roarin drunk on certainty. Give me a man with doubt any day. I think i would’ve liked Thomas.

Doubt makes you hungry for knowledge, doubt breeds research and interest and progression. Doubt makes you compromise for love.

Certainty? Is for arrogant gits, and arrogance is the surest sign i know of emotional stupidity and people i want to ignore.

You may read a myriad of different books on the subject of the Spanish Civil War,but like everything else,it’s all about opinions.

Probably sad,but the thing in life that annoys me most is – people running down Celtic, have to accept it on CQN – but in the real world, the red mist descends!

Ah well,it’s no big deal anyway.

Hate myself for not resisting to join in…

Peter Lawwell has let me down in the past few years but he has called and played the Rangers situation very well this year. Therefore hiven the new circumstances we find ourselves in.. I would give him and a very conservative approach this year my full support until we see the lie of the land.

I have zero European expectation and will be happy to dominate domestically this year. Lenny has a treble to win… An improvement on last season.

If we can do that this year and next- we should then concern ourselves with denting Champions league.

Right now we get behind the push for domestic dominance- Lenny is still a rookie so no need to lumber him with unrealistic European expectation… IMO- but he should be expected to better last year.

    Sixteen roads,

Im makin no judgements, i dont – an never will have – the moral kudos to do so. I’m well aware that fascism, in the flavour of Mussolini and Franco, are seen in revisionist history as Nazi-lite.

Genuinely interested in why people would view these as acceptable. The argument that they were a product of their time is lazy. We know what these regimes beliefs and practices were.

Forget you are a catholic for a moment; was it right?

  27. 16 Roads

I’ve said it several times that, for all I love it and what it has offered me, CQN is not an accurate depiction of the Celtic support as a whole, so dinnae fret about it :-)
