Mike’s Newcastle incentivised for Hearts

409

On Saturday morning I opined that Hearts were a busted flush. They’d shipped 10 goals in their previous four games, failing to win any (against Hamilton, St Johnstone, Inverness and Kilmarnock). They were certainly not a team I expected to see sitting second to us this morning.

All of a sudden there’s talk of the manager leaving and players look like they are fighting to impress.

You know how this is going to turn out? Hearts, who are chasing second in the league, are after Newcastle’s assistant. Newcastle’s owner isn’t likely to be hard to deal with. If Ian Cathro gets the job, you can expect to see Newcastle’s player surplus heading north in January. And unlike the five who left Newcastle for Glasgow two years ago, Cathro will know and select each one.

Which is good, as it might give us some competition in the second half of the season. As for those gambling the family aluminium that qualification for the Europa League next season will bring in a necessary £7m?

They may eventually conclude that having one of Europe’s richest men inside the tent is a whole lot better than making an enemy of him. Just a thought.

Ha! If you change your mind, and decide you need an agent …. let me know. Real talent deserves the best reprentation! Being an esteemed CQN’er, you get the family and friend rates, and only tasteful stuff, of course!

Shocking the prices. And wont say more about the OF price … okay, there I said it… it is the OF pricing strategy.

Had hoped to meet with CQN’er Tobago Street at last night’s TFC game, and start our own little version of CQN corner at Toronto’s BMO stadium. Looks like that might have to wait until next season now. Anyone else interested in joining us for next season, raise your hand.

In the interim, I will have to make do with meeting that other illustrious CQN’er , Torontony, next week for barbq ribs!

A very informative article by Tobias Jones – am sure a little more research would be very interesting.

SoT tells me TJ’s book ‘Dark Heart of Italy’ is a very interesting read on the; culture, politics and football in Serie A – I intend to get a copy and read it.

Mike, I love you, you’re one of my most favourite posters. However, the fact remains Michael that yer a lawyer so I’ll arrange my own agent should the bahookie go public! :-)

Everywhere else in the league is 20 odd quid apart from there which is nearly 50. Lots of money being made!

Yep £49 for a domestic game in Scotland is absolutely shocking. I wonder who came up with that price?

    —————————————————–

Good question – who does set the price??

  8. mike in toronto on

HT … okay …. but real talent like yours shouldn’t be hidden away …. the biggest talent deserves the best agent! Sign with me, and I’ll have your bahookie up in lights!

as your that student ticket …. shouldn’t that be reserved for another certain poster? And can I ask you not to offer it to him until I’m back on line? Thanks!

They were given leave to appeal to the Supreme Court in early March.

  10. To be fair Police and Stewarding costs will be huge for the Sevco games in comparison to other matches so there is some justification for a higher ticket price. £49 is a lot though.

Fair point – I’d love to see a cost breakdown of the £49!

Prices are set by The Precedent ;-)

In September we had a perfect opportunity to demonstrate our opinion of them being a new club and to charge them the same as every other visiting team, £29 I think. Instead we decide it’s not worth losing, what, £150,000 in extra gate revenue (being say 7,500 paying an extra £20 each). And that’s before the damage caused!

  14. Natknow

That isn’t publicly known though I’m pretty positive that the two clubs have come to an arrangement.

I would have made you a star!

On that note, I have to run.

Hail hail to one and all.

  16. Jobo.

Correct mate. I posted the very same at the time.

Sevco supporters were delighted to be charged £49 to come to Paradise.

To them it said same club/old firm back.

    Money over principle , sadly

I was told in a meeting that as a consequence of the interior infrastructure of the stadium we had to give them in excess of 7,000 for the games at Parkhead. When I pointed out that we offered Hearts and Aberdeen approximately 2,500 without issue I was met with silence.

  18. THE_HUDDLE on 1ST DECEMBER 2016 10:57 PM

I’d imagine no one will pay the £49 which will force them to reduce the cost??

    ——

Genius why I didn’t think of that!!! :-)

  19. Btw I’m in favour of charging our fans (non season ticket) 50 quid for matches against Sevco at Celtic Park. If they love the OF then hit them for top dollar.

If we reduced their allocation, they would reduce ours. Difficult enough to stay safe there with the whole of the Broomloan, but more so with only part of it.

Apart from that, why are we allocating so many to Aberdeen and Hearts? No way do they bring those numbers with them.

What about Celtic charging £105 for a season ticket for under 16s but for only 17 home games. Then £98 on top to attend the two games against the monkeys?

I’m happy to say that I’ll be back in Glasgow next Christmas.

    Is that not great?

Getting to the game. Morton’s rolls. (By the way, these are the things that matter when your an exile).

I’ll write to the SPFL and ask them for next year’s fixture list, as I’m sure they will have a draft done up already.

  27. HT

That’s not fair. What I said was, ‘Old Firm’ loving Celtic fans who don’t go to other games, 50 quid is fair game.
