Momentum ahead of Valencia tie

235

Having come through a tortuous December, Celtic will have the opportunity to regain momentum with six of their next seven games at home.  The only away match in the series a return to McDiarmid Park, where they inflicted a 0-6 defeat on St Johnstone earlier this season.

Sixth placed St Johnstone are the highest-ranking domestic team they face on that run, who Celtic also play at home on 30 January, before facing Valencia at Celtic Park on Valentine’s Day.

Forthcoming games against Airdrie in the Scottish Cup, then St Mirren and Hamilton in the league, will give Brendan Rodgers an opportunity to give Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo some game time.  We have time to prepare for the big game on Valentine’s.

Met Joel Garner once, a colossus of a man…

What a team those Windies were…

A guy you would look up to, in more ways than one.

Joel, Bigbird, was the tallest bowler ever at one point.

I think I would enjoy meeting most of that iconic team.

    Hail Hail

Great idea regarding a Reserves / YT stadium.

Doesn’t have to be at Barrowfield.

Crownpoint or Helenvale could be upgraded.

Just a case of start off with 2K Seats and see how it goes.

Anything is better than sending then off to Greenock.

It gives the impression that out of sight, out of mind is the modus operandi of the youths.

  3. Canman,

Agree, punt Ntcham if we can get a half decent fee. How many midfielders do we need – and – he gives a strong vibe of disinterest since the departure of Dembele .

  4. MIT

    Thanks for that info

Got hit with that stinking seaweed at the Sandals resort Barbados 2 year ago, not the best ?

Would Ya Ya and Wan Yam A – do as a CH pairing ??

  5. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Freisdorfer,

Reckon Dembele turned his head, if he’s that easily influenced he’s no use to us.

  6. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

    @FRIESDORFER on 14TH JANUARY 2019 8:12 PM

I’d only punt Ntcham if I had faith that we would use the money to invest in the team. However, given our (in)action following the sale of Armstrong and Dembele, I very much doubt selling Ntcham will benefit the team in any way.

  7. “ANGELGABRIEL on 14TH JANUARY 2019 7:59 PM

For those who like a punt…….

Auchinleck are 9/1 at home to Ayr on Saturday in the Scottish cup.

    Way overpriced.”

14s on Betfair, 10s Draw No Bet and 4s Home Win/Draw (2 chances).

Just a rumour or is it an informed rumour with info behind it?

If L/town is to shut then where is the full sized indoor pitch going to be sited?

L/town is great place for an academy but poor for a first team training ground.

How long has it been in operation?

10 or 12 years is my guess.

Quite a lot of investment to write off.

The price of prime building land must have gone up recently.

I would hate to think the L/town was a DD inspired arbitrage punt.

Oh well — ten years too late — our second rate property guy has finally got the message.

  9. I thought ? There was always plans to develop around Lennoxtoun facility

Was that not part of the deal on planning ?

Is it not – McTaggart and Mickel who own the ground around the old building etc ?

  10. £14m for Ncham

We might get former Newcastle Chancel Mbemba a CB,as part of the deal, another rumour…..

I have been told its well down the road.

Lennoxton is a great facility but I think the club missed a trick re fans goin to the shop etc. at Celtic Park.

Way back they could get tops etc signed by players goin to/from Barrowfield.

    Anyway….

I would move him on regardless. If, as I believe, his heart is not in it, he’s of little use.

I’m with you on this one, bhoy looks totally disinterested these days!

  14. Cathal 8.15

Thanks for that. I had only saw it priced on Willie Hills . I’ve got an account with Betfair, so will check that out . ?

I don’t like slagging Celtic players, but Nitcham was like playing with a man down at Poundland. He contributed zilch . A bad performance is always forgivable. Being completely anonymous isn’t…… Lustig was slaughtered for their goal . Check it out again, Nitcham should have doubled up with Lustig. Instead he was in no mans land , marking no one……. When I heard that there was a sickness bug in the squad, I immediately thought of Nitcham. If he wasn’t affected it’s a worry.

    Time will tell.

  15. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

    @FRIESDORFER on 14TH JANUARY 2019 8:27 PM

I would rather have Ntcham in the squad that have no replacement. We don’t need more money in the bank sitting collecting minimal interest.

  16. onenightinlisbon on

Ntcham has blown hot and cold this season but every player has his price. If we sold him though there is absolutely no guarantee any of the money would be reinvested in the squad – Dembele……

  17. ONENIGHTINLISBON on 14TH JANUARY 2019 8:37 PM

Sell Ntcham stick the money in the bank – it’s the Celtic way don’t you know?

Deal will happen…..at 11.59 pm on the 31st……

  18. there are parcels of land available for residential development allready in Lennoxtown.

I can see no commercial advantage at upping sticks and moving.

Particularly when Celtic have spent , maybe upwards of £12m on the structure of the site.

I recall a reason for moving away from Glasgow was that the best training facilities, of the big teams had a remoteness, an exclusiveness, we are here to work and learn. Remember Tommy toured many other places.

the romance around barrowfield, the place still stinks. better off in greenock -))))

read the finding of the audit report, celtic leaving that area now would be a political hot potato.

  19. Angel Gabriel –

On Bet365 you cab have Auchinleck at 14/1. Might put then on in a double with high flying EKFC who travel up to Inverness and are at 12/1.

EKFC currently 6 points clear at the top of the Lowland league and with a game in hand ;-)

My thoughts exactly pal, as long as I have supported Celtic – over 45 years I have never known the custodians of our club to invest from a position of strength. They have always waited until the have been pushed to do so. Despite the new signings being largely applauded by our supporters they are still lacking the real drive and ambition to go to the next level. As supporters we are treated like customers, second class ones at that.

If the board don’t spend the money for a year they can put it into a high interest account, 4% min. You know it makes sense ?

  22. Watching Citeh v Wolves. Wolves player red carded for a poor tackle. Jamie Carragher, ‘wasn’t a red card 15 years ago’.

Still not a red card in Scotland, Jamie. Unless it’s against a Hun.

Up Pittodrie way , it’s known as a ‘slip’.

  24. PL keeps saying we are a CL club, there has been feeble attempts to even show ambition to be a Europa League club, through lack of forward planning, and investment.

  25. I think Oli is a good player but now, in my opinion, wants to play elsewhere.

He was official MOM when we beat Sevco 1.0 this season, but some of his performances have been half arsed.

    Hail Hail

  26. Our Board don’t appear to be willing to even operate at our maximum capacity to try and achieve 10 in a row, never mind push the boat out. The Huns on the other hand are throwing the kitchen sink at stopping 10. To use a well worn quote by our host, you know how this story ends.

  27. ps,

bhoy across the street plays for our 19s.

tells me the players love cappielow in comparison to going to the airdrie ground.

and the staff like the cappielow pitch, its considered excellent.

BadaBing,I thought you knew what was happening at Barrowfield Training Ground?

I was told by someone who works at Lennoxtown, £2.4m being spent on Barrowfield, a couple of new pitches, indoor pitch, changing rooms, physio area. The ladies team and a lot of the youth teams were going to be relocated there, not heard anything about Lennoxtown, from a couple of earlier posts HH

On recognition of his kind gesture in giving up his £2.3m bonus it will be named the Lawwell sports arena

  30. I know we are only half way through the transfer window but given the recognition that we made a pig’s ear of the last one I expected more in the way of getting a RB and CH
