No bids for Tierney and none wanted

297

Despite reports to the contrary, Celtic have not received a bid for Kieran Tierney and are not impressed by media attempts to unsettle the squad.  Kieran recently signed a six-year contract.  Celtic expect the player to be an integral part of team building over the next several years.  Having only just turned 21, they also expect his value to continue to appreciate.

Celtic do not have to sell and do not want to sell.  We are a well managed club with money available to fulfill strategic plans.  We have recruitment plans and budget in place for this summer; we are not planning to recruit a first choice left back or spend an unexpected windfall.  This attention is unwelcome and a distraction from Champions League preparations.

I also hear Kieran’s agent is relaxed with the player at Celtic and not agitating for a move.  I suspect Everton have let their trusted outlets know they are interested in the player, but it has not gone beyond that stage.

I was born in Rosevale St Partick. My uncle Jimmy Delaney lived round the corner in Beith St. This was mid 60s on to 9 in a row and Lisbon. Partick West became Green and White. The orange halls are closing. Their grandchildren are Celtic supporters. Magic

    What’s your international choices?

Saw Pink Floyd once years ago – on the same bill as The NIce, Andy Fairweather Lowe, The Move & Jimi Hendrix headlining. Old Greens Playhouse before it was rebranded as the Pollo. Floyd did 3 songs including their first ever single.

I lived in Beith Street for a while then we moved to Dennistoun’s Bellfield Street & I went to the old St Anne’s near Celtic Park, before we ended up in Castlemilk. The stories we can tell..

As for that generation – Dad in Halifaxs in RAF bomber command, Uncle Jimmy army gunner on merchant ships & he was sunk twice & survived a broken man. One uncle killed at Dunkirk & another lost a leg.

Another uncle survived the war & stayed in the merchant navy, but was stabbed to death near the docks in Buenos Aires…Still a cold case way down Argentina way..

Listening to one of the greatest songs ever written by Oxford’s greatest. Radiohead and But I am a creep, I am a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here?

    I don’t belong here.

  13. Interesting slant on John McGinn transfer from John James (so probably none sense like most of his fantasies). Hibs have £3m bids on the table from Brighton and Derby but the player wants to go to Celtic and has been advised to wait on Celtic who would prefer to sign him on a Bowman in January. Hibs are now getting twitchy they will lose out on any fee.

Re. Pink Flyod. Saw them at Stirling Uni, must have been 1970 or so. Think Atom Heart Mother had just come out – if that’s the one with the big coo on the cover. Anyway, first thing I heard coming out was “Well, they didn’t play anything as good as See Emily Play”. How right he was. Shine on Diamond Syd Barret.

Oh, and DD…… love most of your musical tastes and heroes, but ditch Tom Yorke and his lot- so boring, with a few noticeable exceptions, ya Creep :)))

  15. okay lads might have egg on my face over this, but I believe they changed their name to the sensational alex Harvey band, if I’m wrong apologies.hh.

  16. Went to Milan from Holland. Getting there was an adventure. Landed at Linate. Got to the game; sick as a parrot, afterwards, although not totally surprised. Then started back for Holland.

Arrived at airport terminal in Milan itself. Shut for the night. Some of the staff open a door and let those of us milling around outside stay the night.

Got back to the airport very early next morning for flight to Brussells. Feijenoord party left from next slot. Nightmare getting back as it was Ascension Thursday (I think) and a public holiday in Belgium.

Seen snippets but never watched the full game again. I did watch Seville again once a couple of years ago. A totally different experience, of course, apart from the result.

Still hate the noise of those horns……

I have seen some of the 30 for 30 films , all fascinating and great viewing .

The first one I saw was about the Southern Methodist University and their regular breaking of rules when they signed players. It was incredible what lengths they went to to entice the students they wanted for their football side.

The films as you said also highlight the conditions the poor and disadvantaged , irrsepective of colour, Americans have then the Universities taking advantage of the students by offering them all sorts.

  18. Just watched the MAGNIFISEVEN video

Very enjoyable, as you might imagine, but was a wee bit disappointed with Lenny and his repeated references to ‘Rangers’ and them being missing and therefore less of an experience and challenge. What does it take to understand ‘cheating’, ‘illegal registration’, SFA collusion, etc. and call it as it is/was?

  19. In 1972, Harvey formed the Sensational Alex Harvey Band (often shortened to SAHB) with guitarist Zal Cleminson, bassist Chris Glen, and cousins Hugh and Ted McKenna on keyboards and drums respectively, all previous members of progressive rock act Tear Gas.

The single that night in the Greens was See Emily Play…

The Nice was a 4 piece then & their single was “Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack”

Last two words were combos of band’s last names. (Emerson, O’List, Jackson, Davison)

Very progrock at the time. :o)

  21. Big Packy1

Think some of the members of Teargas joined wee Alex before he was SAHB.

Saw SAHB at Paradise and they blew my favourites, The Who, out the park. The Who were great that night, but wee Alex was, well, just sensational. How couldn’t he be…. he was returning to his birthplace- Janefield Street.
